Gary Hart and the Hair Problem in 1984 (Re: Edwards)

John Edwards isn't the first guy to have hair controversy.  In 1984 Gary Hart had a bit of a hair problem too.  He had beautiful hair and he was very good at keeping it looking just right.  Some people, in a sort of whispered, wondered if Gary was just too vain to be a true Man of the People.

Bloggers Keep Missing The Obama Story

(Cross-posted at Daily Kos)

That is a provocative title but I'm experiencing a strong case of deja vu.  Three months ago bloggers and everyone else professed amazement at Obama's number of donors and fundraising success.  Then it died down and pretty much all I saw for the next few months was a lot of meaningless snarky nit-picking about Obama's perceived campaign strategy or utterance by him or a staff person, but really nothing about the what drives Obama and what is propelling his campaign.  Me included.  And I admit I'm judging blogs mostly by MyDD & DailyKos.  Thus, I'm sure I'm slandering a lot of bloggers who I don't read, but it's how I feel, sorry.  A lot of smart people seem to enjoy finding little things to knock Obama about.  That is good, it keeps his stratospheric expectations down to earthly levels.  Nothing is worse for a 2008 campaign than unrealistic expectations in 2007.

YearlyKos 6/17 DC Grassroots Fundraiser

Thanks again to everyone who helped with and attended the YKos grassroots fundraiser at Local 16 in DC Sunday evening.  with online & the door it raised between $2,500 & 3,000.  A good time was had by all.  It was an ecclectic group with many, many very popular bloggers, local activists, TBA attendees from all over the country and a fine group of speakers.  I won't begin to list all of the great bloggers because I know I'll leave too many people out, suffice it to say that if an asteroid had hit the place the bloggosphere would have been about half wiped out.

Clinton,Richardson at NJDC/Who Will Tell Hillary?

If, in the spring of 1991, then all-but declared Presidential candidate Bill Clinton had given a well-crafted, well-received good speech in which he mentioned only in passing the leading issue of the time, the economy, somebody from his inner circle would have scolded him about the omission in no uncertain terms.  Candidate Bill Clinton might have gotten mad but he would have listened to James Carville or more likely his closest advisor, Hillary Clinton.  Candidate Clinton would not let such a mistake happen again.  The year is 2007, who is going to tell Hillary?
