"Bored" Obama Must Be Defeated

Frankly, I am tired of reading in almost every Op-Ed piece and every news piece that Obama is the "likely Democratic nominee." There is every reason to believe that he is failing to close to close the deal and with each passing day there is a new episode or news break to signal that he would be a weak candidate.

First of all, there was the slip by an aid in an article in the NYTimes that Obama is "bored" with the primary campaign and would prefer to be finished with Clinton and move onto a general election strategy. The fact that he is "bored" can be connected to the elitest comments he made in San Fran about "bitter" Americans who "cling" to guns and god. The fact that he is "bored" with the primary seems to signal that he feels entitled in some way to the nomination - just as he was bored in the Senate and decided that only being President would satisfy his ambition -

Would he get "bored" being President? Especially when he comes up against opposition that is much more forceful than what Clinton is posing right now.

There is also Wright. This man is not going to go away. Not only did he defend himseld over the last three days, he elaborated on what he had said, providing more fodder for just about everyone to toss back at Barack. He said is will go after Barack starting on Nov 5th to ennact radical policy proposals that are not in step with most of American tradition.

As regards Barack, he can say until the cows come home that Wright doesn't speak for him or his campaign, but everyone in the country already associates Wright with Obama. If it weren't for Obama, who went to that church for over 20 years and donated god's know how much money to it, no one would know who Wright was. Obama is saddled with Wright.

As Barack fails, Hillary is gainging momentum. Her baggage, even with Bill, is nothing compared to the mess Obama has going on right now.

Barack must be defeated. Hillary must be the nominee.

Re: "Bored" Obama Must Be Defeated

I'm sure that both candidates have felt "bored," "frustrated," and every other conceivable human emotion during the race to the nomination.  Of course, this isn't a direct quote from Obama himself, so your logic is even stretchier than its initial premise suggests.  Anyway, Clinton has far more baggage than many here would care to admit, if only because she's been in second place for so long that no one dwells on the many skeletons that the Republicans could (and would) drag out in the fall.  That no one has brought them up yet does not mean they don't exist.

Re: "Bored" Obama Must Be Defeated

Reverend Wright stated that attacks on him we're attacks on the A.A. church. Is Reverend Wright the representative for all A.A churches? If not, that's a rather arrogant statment.

The media dropped the ball....again. The media chose to ignore Rev. Wright. Tim Russert stated on his MSNBC weekend show that mainstream media was aware of Reverend Wright and chose to ignore the story for a long time even though the bloggers weren't ignoring the story. IMO, the media is partially responsible for the dilema the Democratic Party is in now.

Re: "Bored" Obama Must Be Defeated

I agree. The media has been an absolute failure, dwelling on bosnia, flag pins and Wright while letting slide a candidates' threat to commit genocide. The media in the rest of the world picked up the story:

BBC: Clinton's poll day threat to Iran
AFP: Clinton threatens to 'obliterate' Iran if Israel attacked
Jerusalem Post, Israel: Clinton: We could 'obliterate' Iran
The Standard, Hong Kong: Hillary would be willing to `obliterate' Iran
TV3 News, New Zealand: Clinton: US could `obliterate' Iran
The Province, Canada: Clinton would nuke Iran if Israel attacked
The Observer, UK: Incendiary talk
Bombay News, India: Clinton threatens Iran during TV interview
Antara, Indonesia: CIDES protests Hillary`s anti-Iran statement
Australian IT, Australia: Clinton resorts to fear tactics
Melbourne Herald Sun: D-day for Hillary Clinton
United States: Silence

Re: "Bored" Obama Must Be Defeated

If Barack is bored with campaigning who's to say he won't be bored at 3am when terrorists and other evil doers come for our women and children because they hate our way of life! Who's to say he won't get so bored that he actually falls asleep and his hand accidentally hits the "red button" to launch a nuclear attack against the axis of evil? Maybe he'll  even get so bored he'll forget to breath and he'll fall over dead!!!

Hillary Clinton has her flaws but one thing she doesn't get is bored.

-Ready from day one? Check
-Vetted? Check
-Baggage already rummaged through? Check
-Never gets bored? Check

I can see it now: The Swiftbored Vets for Excitement

Re: "Bored" Obama Must Be Defeated

If you think Hillary Clinton has been fully vetted, you are exhibiting wishful thinking.

http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/he ndrikhertzberg/2008/04/after-pennsylva.h tml
Hillary has her own vulnerability in this general area, and it is larger than the fact, mentioned by Obama in his riposte to her, that her husband, on his last day in office, commuted the sentences of a couple of old Weather Underground jailbirds. (After a decade and a half in stir, they had been denied parole, apparently unfairly. Good for Bill.) What Obama did not mention was Hillary's internship, back in the groovy summer of 1971, at the Oakland law firm of Treuhaft, Walker and Burnstein. Treuhaft (Robert Treuhaft, husband of Jessica Mitford) had left the Communist Party thirteen years earlier, but Walker (Doris Walker) was still a member, and the firm was a pillar of the Bay Area Old Left. I assume that Obama didn't mention this because doing so would have rightly pissed off a lot of Democrats, because he is running as a non-kneecapping uniter, and because there is no evidence that Clinton has or has ever had the slightest sympathy with Communism. (Of course, there is no such evidence with respect to Obama and Weather Underground-ism, either, but that didn't stop Hillary from twisting that particular knife.)

My point is that Hillary Clinton has not, in fact, survived the worst that the Republican attack machine (and its pilotless drones online and on talk radio) can dish out. We will learn what the worst really means if she is nominated. The Commie law firm will be only the beginning. Many tempting targets--from Bill's little-examined fund-raising and business activities during the past seven years to the prospect of his hanging around the White House in some as yet undefined role for another four or eight years to whatever leftovers from the Clinton "scandals" of the nineteen-nineties can be retrieved from the dumpster and reheated--remain to be machine-gunned. The whole Clinton marital soap opera, obviously off limits within the Democratic fold, will offer ample material for what Obama calls "distractions." To take the most obvious example, the former President's social life since leaving the White House will become, if not "fair game," big game--and some of these right-wing dirtbags are already hiring bearers and trying on pith helmets for the safari. Is this a "there" where the Democratic Party really wants to go?

Re: "Bored" Obama Must Be Defeated

And you can expect Willie Horton style ads about her going after a teenage rape victim when Clinton defended a rapist in AK.

Re: "Bored" Obama Must Be Defeated

Oh no doubt, probably have that guys picture, and then due to shiled laws, a generic little girl dropping a doll-- oh and a re-enactor reading the transcript in a scary voice for Hillary.

Hell, if they tie this into the fact taht Bill's best friend post presidency got busted down in Florida for Child prostitution well it might not play well.

We'll know if the media is in the tank depending on how they play the FALN story if the election goes to PR, if Fox lets the pardons of Puerto Rican terrorists-- possibly to help hillary in 2000-- who killed people and maimed an NYPD officer go, well I think the proof of the GOP holding its fire till Hillary gets the nom will be pretty clear to everyone.

She's ready for this...she's salivating for her turn to deal with the GOP machine...she's made for this kinda stuff...obama stinks at this!

Yeah, I mean she's so good at this stuff that she's trusted by what 1/3 of the public? Oh, but she is the only one of the three remaining canidates who has that negative approval/disapproval number that voters just love!

Re: "Bored" Obama Must Be Defeated

Give me a break, seriously. We are all bored and burnt out this primary campaign. Of course he wants to get past Clinton and be able to start the general election campaign against McCain. Whats surprising there?

Everyday Obama is picking up more endorsements on his way to the threshold he needs to secure the nomination. Obama is the "likely Democratic nominee."

Why hasn't Hillary closed the deal yet?

Serious question.

Re: Why hasn't Hillary closed the deal yet?

Because her opponent is a fresh-faced, smart, well funded and gifted politician who has locked up a critical Democratic base constituency at 85%+ and even given Wright has yet to face a full scale media take-down.

They're actually being kind

"Likely" nominee. He is the nominee. Thank goodness this will be over within about 5 weeks. This is both silly and destructive.

Re: "Bored" Obama Must Be Defeated

God help Obama if people start printing all the stuff they've known about him but have head back under the press's "don't ask, don't tell" policy concerning anything negative about Obama.

The guy's history in Chicago could sink ten people's campaigns.

Obama's a "cool cat" but he's used up all nine lives.

If we nominate him, we should change our party name to "Lemmings"

Obama's chicken.

He needs to go home to Chicago and roost.

Re: "Bored" Obama Must Be Defeated

No, he is not the nominee.  He hasn't earned squat.  Further, she can't take anything from him, because it is not his to take.

At this point neither will have the pledged delegate total.  She most likely will have the popular vote before anything is done with Florida and Michigan.

Polls have him dropping. Currently she is doing well against McCain ( better than Obama is doing against McCain), and she is gaining with Independents.

Um, what, without MI and FL she's down more than half a million votes, please tell me how and where she makes that up?
