Obama Boxed In?

Quick question, and sorry for making this a diary, but it's been awhile since we've beaten the dead horse that is Hillary for SoS.

How is Obama being boxed in here? Most accounts say that he made an offer already. So what is the drama here? OMG, now he HAS to give her the job that he just offered her and that was hers to take if she wanted it! It's hilarious how much they LOVE the idea of Hillary being an unreasonable, crazy person.

Seriously, let's say I have a bunch of apples and I offer you one. You say, "Hmm, only if my husband doesn't want it." Your husband says, "Nah, that's okay, you can have it." Then someone else says, "Oh, they've COMPLETELY played you! Now you HAVE to give them the apple or you'll look like a jerk!"

Granted, there have been gigantic leaks on this, but once she's into the Obama camp, it seems like it will be easier to control if they vet her people. And maybe that's the real story here, that some of Hillary's people don't want her to take this job. Maybe they're pissed at Obama from the primaries, maybe they were hoping she'd run in 2012, maybe they just want her to stay in the Senate. But if anyone is trying to play mind games here, I doubt it's Hillary.

Re: Obama Boxed In?

Its kinda of a non-story for me. She'ld be great, she and Bill have to decide to take it. It has its plusses and minuses.

I don't get the controversy, nor have I seen too much complaining about it...

Haha.  I love good metaphors.

I think at some point the English Majors in the press who never got around to writing the Great American Novel decided that they'd collectively try their hand at penning The Clintons.

Re: Obama Boxed In?

The media is, once again, doing what they can to make Hillary and Bill look bad.

The bases are covered either way

Obama has an "out."  As usual.

Ted Kennedy was calling on Hillary Clinton to lead the Senate's health care push this week; if she decides not to take the SoS job, she has a great and very personal reason not to: she has some seriously unfinished business with health care legislation ranging back to 1994.  Who would blame her for taking up Ted Kennedy on an offer to personally redeem herself on a past disappointment?

Obama looks good because he offered her possibly the most critical cabinet position for today's problems, Clinton gets her due and has a choice between two very tempting options where nobody is going to second-guess her final decision.  Well, some folks will, because it's Hillary, but nobody credible.

Maybe it wasn't offered before the leaks?

Just a guess... but maybe he got played.

Anyway, I'm hoping she turns it down so Richardson can do it right, instead of trying to prove his toughness but fucking with venezuela and Iran, which is what i think Clnton will do.

Re: Obama Boxed In?

Stop falling for the media!

Every single day, the saga on Hillary as SOS has been different. The news out of MSNBC has conflicted with CNN's. The Huffington posts scoop has been different from Politico.

Even NY Times keeps on changing its rumor mill.

At the end of the day, only a very tiny, few select people really know what is going on.

That includes Barack, Hillary, Bill, Michelle, Rham.

Everyone keeps on speculating based on unsubstantiated facts.

Some here have already attacked & judge  Hillary based on daily rumors.

Just STOP & WAIT for the announcement

Re: Obama Boxed In?

It's true. We keep hearing how leaky everything is, but nobody knows anything about what is really happening, there's just speculation by more people.

wow, I thought obama would unite us

but instead, he just offered the post to burnish his whole "reaching out" to his rivals credentials, not that he actually intended to give her the post. Wow, just wow.

Re: wow, I thought obama would unite us

I don't think that's really true. By most accounts, he offered the post, and it was a smart move. His people might have been annoyed at the process, but he made the choice.

Why doesn't Obama have mind control lasers?

Serious question.

Re: wow, I thought obama would unite us

Do you have any interests besides CLINTON, and the proper respect towards them?  It's fucking bizarre.

Also: huh?

Not sure what this means, but let's face it, this isn't much of a diary, let alone one which should ever be recommended.
