She's just pining for the fiords! (Update with Video)

For all of you Monty Python fans:

Customer: "He's not pining! He's passed on! This parrot is no more! He has ceased to be! He's expired and gone to meet his maker! He's a stiff! Bereft of life, he rests in peace! . . . His metabolic processes are now history! He's off the twig! He's kicked the bucket, he's shuffled off his mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleeding choir invisible! This is an ex-parrot!"

What has this got to do with the primary election? For that you'll have to wander over to the Washington Post and read Dana Milbank's latest column. Mr. Milbank tells of his experiences yesterday in the Clinton campaign press entourage.

Re: She's just pining for the fiords!

Any Clinton supporters read the headlines today?

If a tree falls and nobody is around to hear it...

does it make a sound?

No major outlet (not even most blogs) are taking her candidacy

serioulsy anymore. After tonights massive win, she got

NO HEADLINES. Face it. It's over.

She's Huckabee.

I meant "last nights" win.

That's my favorite Monty Python skit

As much as I love Python...

I don't really see any reason in piling on Clinton or her candidacy.

Get it through your head that it's good for us if she continues to run.

(D) Voter turnout = good
(D) fundraising = good
(D) media coverage = good
(D) ground game volunteering = good

Stop obeying the pundits and start thinking about the good of the party.

Re: As much as I love Python...

She will continue to run until June 3rd, and I don't begrudge her that, but it's hardly good. In fact, the fact the press is starting to ignore her is good news for the party.

1. Inability to turn conversation to McCain = Bad

  1. Consuming limited media time with Hillary/Obama race = Bad
  2. Wasting all this money, much of it coming from small donors = Bad
  3. Inability to schedule debates, etc., with McCain = bad
  4. Inability to start mending the party = Bad

Re: As much as I love Python...

Obama is already turning the conversation to McCain... and has been for awhile now.

McCain is only going to look more lackluster as the Democratic primary ends.  Really, he's downright boring compared to either of them.  People are going to see him and get pissed.  Where's the entertainment value in Old White Guy?  Oh yeah, the entertainment value is that he's generally got his facts wrong.

The money isn't "wasted" if it goes back into the community (stimulating the local economies) in the process of drawing attention to our candidates.  How much is getting the best and toughest nominee worth?  Further, there's plenty of room for more donations if people choose to do so.

If the small donors weren't excited enough to donate for the primaries in the first place, then that money probably wouldn't be there in the fall anyway.  I will concede that this theory does run aground somewhat on Clinton's debt... but she needs to pay it off, and there's no other way of doing that besides keeping the race going for her fundraising.

Debates?  Oh, there will be debates soon enough.  There were TOO MANY debates on our side.  I would be cool with three or four debates total, making each one count.

As for party mending, the onus for that is on Clinton to set the tone for the post-primary season.  Driving her out of the race isn't going to make her conducive to healing.

Re: As much as I love Python...

Nobody is driving her out of the race. She's in to June 3rd, unless she wants out earlier. That's a given.

Re: As much as I love Python...

I get what you are saying but have you seen the hit jobs on
Obama that get on the Rec.List?

He is our presumptive nominee and is getting hit hard by fellow

I try to be as nice and as cordial as possible but some people just
want to stay in the mud and whine when the facts are brought up.

Eh, they're silly

No need to stoop to their level.

Correct them and move on.

Re: She's just pining for the fiords!

Thankfully what you write here doesn't really matter. She'll continue through June 3rd and then it will be over. Instead of nitpicking on her, how about volunteering for the Obama campaign?
