Congratulations from Obama Supporters. Celebrate!

I'd like to offer this diary as a place for Obama supporters to congratulate Senator Clinton and her supporters on their big victory in West Virginia tonight. They've worked really hard and this should be a time of celebration for them.

I'd also like to suggest that Obama supporters on this site pay them the greatest respect that we can, and leave the site for the the rest of the day. I hope that most Obama supporters will agree with me that this is their time. I fully expect things to be said that Obama supporters may disagree with, but let's not make this a night to engage in arguments. I think we should all go elsewhere for a while, and return maybe tomorrow afternoon.

I offer this as a sign of respect to our fellow Democrats in the Clinton camp, and I hope Obama supporters will rec this diary, add a comment with their congratulations, and then disappear for a while.

Quite Patronizing

I'm sure this diary wouldn't have appeared if the media hadn't been suggesting for the past week that Obama has it all sown up. Please save it, this is a competition until the end (onto the convention i need be...hopefully)

Re: Quite Patronizing

I don't see it as patronizing at all. Supporters on both sides have congratulated the opposing side on their wins in the past.

Perhaps you're just a little too edgy.

Congratulations on your win.

Not my victory

This is a new tone. Conviniently appearing when Obama seems to have the nomination. NOW you need Hillary supporters so you wish to make nice. A few weeks ago she was the devil incarnate. I'm not buying ANY of these diaries

negative. Have fun being bitter.

by babbitt 2008-05-13 03:45PM | 0 recs
No it's not a new tone

Here is my diary from the Pennsylvania primary where I congratulated Hillary.  And it was not the only Obama supporter diary to do so.  We are always happy to congratulate a Democrat on a win.

I'm pretty sure I've congratulated the other camp

Regardless of the score, all the way back to the heart-breaker in New Hampshire.

But whatever. Apparently tonight is just be rude night.

I would be happy if they don't leave but they cease making rude and insulting comments about WVa voters.  Attacking Hillary is one thing but attacking voters for their choice (WHICH IS THEIR RIGHT TO MAKE) is hurting their cause.

Re: Frankly...

I agree.  As an Obama supporter, I wanted to offer my congratulations, but I was going to take issue with the suggestion to leave.  I split my time between kos and here, so I am well used to seeing outlandish posts on both sides :)

Tell me why I shouldn't?

Re: She is not necessarily reflective of all...

I never said that, but her campaign was more than happy to FORCE clinton to say all that white love race baiting on the radio.

I don't blame Hillary, on the best of days ALL politicians are someone's pawn.

I dont blame WV'ings either.  I blame the federal government.

I saw more than a few WV voters who said they would never vote for a black man for any reason. Are these the kind of people you think are being ridiculed?

I can't understand why?

Re: Congratulations from Obama Supporters

Would this have come if Hillary won big in Indiana...NO. The reaction would have been "Great, she can't get the nomination, please drop out. Scorched earth is destroying t he party) ect, ect.

by Wiseprince 2008-05-13 03:44PM | 0 recs
It came before her win in Indiana...

on the date of her win in Indiana and obviously after.  If you don't want to accept our congratulations, that's fine.  But it's just rewriting history to say that we have not been so gracious in the past.

by nklein 2008-05-13 03:48PM | 0 recs
Re: It came before her win in Indiana...

I can post the quotes of all the, "Bill is Racist" and, "Hillary is trying to destroy the party" comments. Should I link you to the, "Hillary is a Republican" and the, "Drop out now" diaries? Maybe you would rather read some of the mocking type diaries instead. Please, I am well aware of what has been going on in the so called Liberal blogosphere. Maybe you would like to read the, "I will never vote for Hillary" or the "Vote McCain over Hillary" diaries. Really now. This is patronizing

by Wiseprince 2008-05-13 03:53PM | 0 recs
There's been nasty words on both sides...

but I've only seen congratulations come from most Obama's supporters when she's won.  Check out my comment upthread and click on the link.  This isn't new.

Heck, I'll congratulate Clinton supporters

It's a nice win by a big margin. A lot of hard work goes into every victory and this one is no different.

Re: Heck, I'll congratulate Clinton supporters

Wow, Obama supporters are so nice and respectful. Not a mean bone in them. I think it's clear that this is the memo from the campaign. Be nice to Hillary so we can use her in November to sure up thhe white and latino vote. Interestingly enough on Super Tuesday,1 and 2, those votes didn't seem all to important. No, at that time they were fools who were being fooled by Hillary and Racist Bill

Re: Heck, I'll congratulate Clinton supporters

Wow, you have figured us ALL out, haven't you, you clever person.

Except, I have never called Bill OR Hillary racist, nor their voters fools.

But, didn't stop YOU from lumping us all together and insulting us, now, did it?

by WashStateBlue 2008-05-13 03:53PM | 0 recs
Re: Heck, I'll congratulate Clinton supporters

It seems quite clear to me that these types of diaries would have been few and very far between only a week ago. At that time it was all about how Hillary is destroying the party. Whether or not YOU were directly responsible is not the point. The tone from Obama supporters was not what I"m seeing tonight. I find it somewhat amusing that now you want unity.

Re: Heck, I'll congratulate Clinton supporters

So, instead, you would like to continue the Jihad?

There are plenty of Obama A-holes supporters that will oblige you, but, I have seen a lot of the posters here (you tend to pick out the like minded folks when you are in the minority) and most on this thread are not the dive bombers and flame baiters?

Just saying....Not ALL Obama supporters are A-holes, really, some of us love our kids, our dogs, a good glass of red...

And America as well?

Victory for Sen. Clinton, from the point of view of a Obama supporter.

Hillary, Chelsea and Bill worked very hard in the state and right candidate won the state.

by Wiseprince 2008-05-13 03:54PM | 0 recs
Honest answer..

What do we have to say tonight, our candidate likely lost 70/30.

We could make excuses, blame the demographics, race, education level ect..ect.. but what would be the point?

In the end this is a contest of wins and losses in an attempt to accumulate delegates.  Your candidate Sen. Clinton had had a great night, enjoy!

BTW looks like she will net 12 delegates tonight, congratulations, thats as much as PA, not a bad night at all.

Recommended (while I still have that ability).  Obviously, Clinton still has very committed supporters across the country.  West Virginia happens to be a state with a lot of them.

How does it feel to still be able to rec diaries?

Re: I wish I could...

Seems to be a temporary phenomenon on mydd.  A lot of Obama supporters had that ability yanked, I don't know why I survived.  I recced the same diaries they recced.  But I just dropped a zero on Jerome in the Preening diary so I expect I'll lose that ability (and probably my account) soon.

I could care less about each and every the patrionizing Obama posts of congratulations.

From Air America to Kos to Olbermann right down to the very Obama supporter on the net, I could care less what you do or say. Since we are all just uneducated, bitter, racist white trash to you, go away to your hate filled, Hillary loathing blogs and MSNBO.

Don't be angry...

They are just passionate about their candidate.  I've tried to think about how I would feel in their shoes.

I would be heartbroken!

I think what we are seeing is that it's worse to get this far than to loose at the start.  With so many ups and downs passions run high.

I am sincere in my expression of congratulations of team Clinton tonight, enjoy.

Re: Congratulations from Obama Supporters.

You are quite wrong as usual for BO folks.

Hate is all about the online supporters of BO with their pathological hatred of Hillary and her supporters. What I wrote is that I now ignore them, don't patronize them, and sure a hell don't join forces with them.

Your comment seems just like how you guys manufactured Bill Clinton into a ranting racist by spinning what he said like a pretzel. You take what I wrote as same hate filled screed simply because I now ignore them.

Pretty incredible and I take my pretzels with yellow mustard.

It's too late

Three sentences in wherever Obama supporters comment on Clinton blogs they reveal themselves. Forget it! Obama and his campaign have to change their tone to get back the voters they under the bus.

Creative Class 13% (see Florida's book)
Blacks 13%
18-29 year old eligible voters 25%

Women 51%
Working class 33%
Latinos 15%
Asians 5%
Elderly 12%
Gays 10%

CLINTON WINS 126 > 51.

Re: Congratulations from Obama Supporters. Celebra

I certainly offer my congratulations.

WV really represents better than any other state that key demographic that Hillary owns over Obama, and this win really demonstrates why, as a united ticket, they'd absolutely crush McCain.

Re: Congratulations from Obama Supporters. Celebra

Congrats on winning West Virginia! I support Obama, but I love a strong woman.  With the shit the Republicans have thrown at Hillary over the last 16 years, she deserves a hell of a lot of credit for fighting the good fight through it all.  She has done great things for this country, and she has paved the way for the first woman President, even if it isn't her.  Though, I wouldn't bet against her making it to the Oval office someday.  Anyway, congrats on the big win!

Congrats to the Senator Clinton and the Party

Any win is a good win.  I think there are some very good reasons for voting for Clinton even though I didn't.

Obama and Clinton have each gotten roughly half the votes in this tough primary season.

I was an Edwards supporter, but I am very proud of a party that has given us the first woman and the first African-American candidates with very good chances of winning the presidency.

History has already been made.

She made me cry tonight.

I wrote a really harsh diary today criticizing Hillary's campaign tactics. (Mark Penn's tactics in particular.)

Tonight, she made me cry.

She was full of graciousness, strength, class, charm, and her ever-present wit and brilliance. I wanted to go up and shake her hand, and thank her for inspiring more devotion and love in women, the elderly, the working class, independents, and yes, African Americans (Stephanie Tubbs-Jones was great to hear from tonight, as always) than the right wing's nonsense would have led me to think possible.

She also made me believe that she will work her guts out to elect a Dem to the White House, whoever it is.

Congratulations to Senator Clinton, and to all the people who worked so hard in WV on Clinton's behalf. I didn't see racists or "the uninformed" in her cheering audience tonight. I saw people who feel grateful to the Clintons, remember much better times under Clinton stewardship, and who admire the hell out of Hillary, if not plain love her.

It was really special and humbling to watch.

We CAN come together. Yes, we can. Yes, we will.
