Obama on NBC, Hillary on ABC

I am watching the first half of the Obama on Meet the Press.  Hillary doesn't come on my cable until 10:30.  Feel free to chime in about either program.

So far they are talking about Wright.  OBama is insisting that Wright added to his divisive statements before he denounced him.  I think that is very untrue and of course Timmy is treating him with kid gloves.

Update [2008-5-4 10:31:39 by TeresaInPa]: I am switching to ABC. Please feel free to continue to tell us what Obama is saying.

Re: Obama on NBC, Hillary on ABC

Anyone know if there is a webstream for Hill's ABC town hall? :(

so far this seems like an oportunity

for Obama to explain his problem with Wright.  I have never seen Timmy be this gentle with a candidate.  IS he about to ask him if he wants a pillow?

Re: so far this seems like an oportunity

Well - there's a reason Barack was only willing to do a controlled, carefully scripted event.  I'm sure these questions were worked out well in advance so that Barack could have his lines memorized.

He does not do well with extemporaneous questions because the advertising luster doesn't cover up for his lack of knowledge on the issues if he is put on the spot.

Re: Obama on NBC, Hillary on ABC

I can't wait for Wright's October surprise. I just hope to God Obama isn't our nominee.

Re: Obama on NBC, Hillary on ABC

The book he's writing, you mean?  I'm sure there will be another public outburst before July anyway.

Oh lord

I hope the audience questions to Hillary are tougher and more interesting than this..

Re: Obama on NBC, Hillary on ABC

If someone performs your marriage and baptizes your children, doesn't that sort of make that person your spiritual adviser? Obama just said Wright has never been his spiritual adviser.

by zenful6219 2008-05-04 06:16AM | 0 recs
he has said many times in the past

that he WAS his spiritual adviser.

Re: spiitual advisor/ NOT

Isn't Obama contradicting himself?  I'm pretty sure he has said before that Wright was his spiritual advisor.

and, where did Obama get the title of his book from: Audacity of Hope?

Re: spiitual advisor/ NOT

He has variously refered to Wright has his spiritual advisor, his mentor, and the spiritual equivalent of a father.

Obama trusts the American people

according to him they are going to see that he is not Reverend Wright.

woops... he is lying
claiming Hillary challenged his patriotism.
They showed a clip of him saying the other candidates are talking about him on the campaign trail.  That is of course untrue, Clinton is not talking about him. Now he is claiming she questioned his patriotism?  Sigh

Gas tax...

Obama claiming that McCain first introduced the gas tax idea and Hillary "jumped on it". That's not true, Hillary talked about it months ago.

So this is just an hours worth of his chance to attack Hillary.  Boring

Re: Gas tax...

When you're losing - go negative.  If he is going negative during this Russert interview, it means their internals show them losing Indiana and not doing as well as they had hoped in North Carolina.

Re: Obama on NBC, Hillary on ABC

Obama thinks the gas tax holiday is a gimmick. But, he tried it three times in Illinois.

Re: Obama on NBC, Hillary on ABC

Doesn't it make you suspicious that Tim Russert is treating Obama the way he would Bush or Cheney?

by zenful6219 2008-05-04 06:26AM | 0 recs
lying about Clinton AGAIN
he is saying she never stood up for fuel efficiency or a energy plan.
But in fact she has a good energy plan, he should read it.  And of course Timmy didn't mention that Obama voted for Cheney's energy plan.

Re: lying about Clinton AGAIN

See previous post - the candidate that goes negative is the candidate that's losing.  That's why he went hard negative in Penn.  Just smile and take comfort in it; its like admitting defeat.

Re: Obama on NBC, Hillary on ABC

Obama's got so many big ideas. Maybe, in 20-30 years, he'll realize some of his ideas. Until then, we need Clinton.

by zenful6219 2008-05-04 06:28AM | 0 recs
I believe that Obama is GWB II

and that he has NO big ideas.  I think he is just saying whatever his people want to hear.

Oops, George Stephanopolis (sp?) just came on.

Re: Obama on NBC, Hillary on ABC

Did Mr. i dont go negative call HRC a panderer?

Then sure i voted for a gas holiday but HRC panders.

Why does he keep looking down? He looks and talks just like his narrative. Talking down to people. That is know more that everyone else.

Re: wimp factor

HRC goes into not one, but two lion's dens:  first on Olbermann, then on O'Reilly.  Today she takes questions -- tough ones -- direct from the citizens of Indiana and North Carolina in a town hall type forum.  Obama was invited, but chose not to participate.  He was also invited by HRC to join her in "Lincoln/Douglas" style debates one on one with no moderator.  Again, Obama says no.  He'd rather play softball with Russert on NBC.
