I'm also raising an issue that the progressive blogosphere has chosen to ignore.

Artur Davis made this point on MSNBC the other day that he would thinks that with the election of Obama he would like to see democrats get out of the "blacks can't win statewide" mindset and do things to encourage their success.

I am not being a "race-baiter"  but am pointing out a fact. If you cannot handle the facts, then go ahead and ban me and prove my point.

I think your comments on the Florida Senate race and the thoughts of national dems is telling.  Kendrick Meeks is a solid candidate and he is currently running yet it appears that the white democratic establishment will once again not support a black candidate for statewide office.

I don't really care for Bobby Rush but he has a point about white democrats and your comments and the reactions from others yesterday just proves it.

    You should be ashamed.

  • I understand your point about JJJ but the others? Even as caretakers?

Reid isn't helping his cause by not forcefully denying the accusations which lets the mind wander..

  • Also, I have heard about Duckworth for awhile. She lost her race in a dem year. HOw the hell is she electable?

I've also heard of Dan Seals who happens to be black and mentioned as a candidate as well because he appeals to whites. That's nice but he doesn't appeal to blacks and his appeal based on the fact that he is light skinned? Oh and the man lost twice.

I'm starting to think that the dems are as nuts as the repubs.

  • How do you know he wasn't arguing about race? Time and time again race has been used as a reason why blacks shouldn't be supported for statewide office.

I am sure that if the establishment believed that blacks could win statewide office, you would have seen party elders nurturing black pols and providing their networks and machines to help get them elected. Again, look at Obama. He had NONE of the dem establishment backing him from even when he ran for Senate in 2004.

It is because he fostered a strong bond with the AA community was he able to focus all of his time on downstate IL and win.

I believe the report. Sources have been calling JJJ unelectable for months now and given that there are ZERO black senators why shouldn't we believe this report.

Please keep in mind that this argument that blacks are not electable statewide has been used for years and it is not surprising that Harry Reid would not think that elected black officials would not be acceptable.

I know the progressive blogs do not want to talk about it but you guys need to understand that to many blacks like myself it is completely unacceptable that out of 100 senators there are zero blacks and have only been 3 since Reconstruction.  Explain to me why is that especially among the democrats who can thank many of their electoral successes to blacks being a consistent voting block.

Face it, the democratic establishment doesn't support black officials running for statewide office. Do I need to remind you of Obama?

I would also point out that he was a reporter before Politico so he wasn't just a blogger.

I think Jonathan Martin is quite fair and a decent reporter.

I'm disappointed Todd that you would follow David Sirota. He's has just been awful recently.

This is absurd. How do we even know that he is really groping Clinton? Could it be just that he is holding the cardboard up?

These cries of sexism are absurd.  Where was everyone when Michelle was treated poorly throughout the campaign?

  • comment on a post Yes, Obama is a centrist on foreign affairs over 5 years ago

I'm tired of the criticisms of black politicians and nothign about white ones. The man isn't even President yet and the bashing begins.

It wouldn't surprise me if Sirota and Jerome tried to turn Obama into David Dinkins.

    Ugh, enough.

Somewhat good news is that Chris Cillizza reports that he only has a 50-50 chance. That would probably explain why he's scrambling to get senators on board.

Actually you should. McCain's group was always men which is why he has been able to keep the race close nationally.  It's the female vote you need to watch and according to the polls have been going for Obama by about the same margin as men are going for McCain.
