MyDD's future is brighter...take the ball and run.

Hillary's recent arrival at the land of statistical impossibility has been a god-send for MyDD.  It means that the loopier ideas being posted come across just as that..."loopy." It also means that the talking point machine from HRC no longer dominates the rec list 24/7/365.  This shoving of talking points down the collective gullet of MyDD has been a great disservice.

Hey, have a revolution.  Throw out the ruling party and take the site back.  Talk about McCain, Iraq, Bush, the soldiers, the economy, the environment, etc.  You can even ignore Obama.  Yet, rise from the ashes.  Kick out those surrogates, kick out those people who do the oddest of contortions.  Despite some recent advances on MyDD, today, there were two top rec'ed diaries which sucked up your energy with the ground breaking news...a small paper, Argus Leader, backs Hillary.  Not only were both posts redundant, they were of no real moment.  The Argus Leader has as the other top story, someone took a lawn mower for an uneventful joy ride.  This is a state with 15 delegates and few few total voters.  If HRC wins with amazing numbers in SD it will not put even the smallest of dents into the numbers.  Yet, this is headline news on the rec list that a paper with a daily circulation of less than 60K backs Hillary.  Why?  Push back.  Take your site back.  Talk about things other than a race which would appear to be over.  Even if it is not "over" then start to do some justice to the site and become "bigger."

I know there is going to be a flood of hostile reactions.  Yet, think about it.  What is the future of your beloved site if the world is right and the race between Hillary and Obama is over?  There remains an ember here.  One which could light a fire and become relevant to the important remaining points.  Take a breath and start building.  The other day your top diarist won top billing on the site by reposting a talking points bulletin which was first posted in Feb.!!  Stop letting people, directed by candidates, from putting nails in your collective coffin.  REVOLT...take your site back.  You are dynamic and edgy participants looking for change.  Let your voices break through.

It starts with the siteleader.

The tone is set by Jerome. Until he stops writing hit pieces and disabling pro-Obama accounts while sheltering protected members, this site won't stop sliding into oblivion simply because Hillary concedes.

look at the diary below mine!!!.

It goes after Obama's church, his wife, etc.  Is this the future?  It will not win the GE and will kill this site.  It's old, it's hate, it not relevant.

Re: look at the diary below mine!!!.

Don't worry about that diary, it's just a freeper having fun with us.

Re: look at the diary below mine!!!.

That is just Begala.  Jerome's pet troll.

Ignore him.  Everyone else does.

The reason this site has so many trolls like that

is because illogic and dishonesty is protected in the name of being fair to Hillary.  It opens the door to being messed with.

Re: MyDD's future is brighter...take the ball and

Any Democrat that tries to derail another Democrat post June 3rd, is no longer a Democrat!

Re: MyDD's future is brighter...take the ball and

I feel uncomfortable with defining what is, and what is not, a democrat.  It create more hostility than inclusion.  I think the question is rather, what is best for the Party.

Re: MyDD's future is brighter...take the ball and

You support the nominee or you do not, that is what makes you a Democrat.

Joe Liberman and Zell Miller, for instances, are not Democrats.

Re: MyDD's future is brighter...take the ball and

It will be interesting to watch Jerome, Alegre, TexasDarlin and others after June 3rd.

Paint me cynical, but I don't see a big,  Kumbaya-singing group hug taking place on this site.  Does ANYONE actually think the most prolific diarist on this site will support the Democratic Party now that Clinton is not the nominee?  Anyone?

by rf7777 2008-05-30 12:21PM | 0 recs
Of Course

though with the caveat that I think the title of most prolific poster might change owners.

Re: MyDD's future is brighter...take the ball and

The talking-point-in-waiting seems to be that "superdelegates don't really vote until the convention". This may well be used as an excuse to perpetuate spreading lies about Obama until then.

I'm not getting my hopes up.

Re: MyDD's future is brighter...take the ball and

The Washington Post had an interesting article today about how the Super D's have stopped listening to HRC.  Thus, that boat has sailed the train station.  Thus, people posting here should move beyond that losing talking point and start building something for the future.

the people here can make these darker forces irrelevant.  or they can keep digging despite having hit rock bottom.

Alegre has been a godsend

Alegre has been a godsend for this site and the Clinton campaign.

Laughs at the parody troll

I see you read my diary on trolls, I am glad you are just mocking the slant of the site instead of working all out for John McCain.

John McCain is bad, Jerome Armstrong is merely on the road to hackery.

Therefore Jerome Armstrong > John McCain

Re: Laughs at the parody troll

Agree totally about John McCain

Bush Third Term
100 Years In Iraq
Caters to Pat Robertson and John Hagee
The Supreme Court

and on and on and on.

Re: Alegre has been a godsend

she has sucked the air out of this site  by speaking for HRC, directly.  This is not to disagree with her.  This is to say that she has alienated more people than not.  No one wants to come to a site and read one person's diaries, who works closely with a campaign, and will be three of the five top rec'ed diaries at a given time.  Even if she is the word of god, and right, she kills this site.  Sometimes I think it looks selfish to use the site as one's personal message board as they hop to and fro from campaign events.  Again, I don't disagree with her.  I just think a democratic site with a hope for diverse views and diaries should not be HRC/one person's board.

To be fair to Allegre

she was great for Dailykos.  That is, when she quit posting distracting bullshit there and she took so many bullshitters with her.

Re: MyDD's future is brighter...take the ball and

The sad thing is that Hillary-haters (I won't say Obama supporters, because a lot of them don't hate Hillary) will still continue with their bashing.

Look, it's over.  I know it & I am a strong supporter of Hillary.  Yet that doesn't stop anti-Hillary diaries cropping up

I was taught that winners should be gracious and not keep bitch-slapping the loser down.

Somehow, I don't remember any Democrat doing that in the past.

hillary hatering diary

if this is hillary hating i can only imagine what you think of the rest of the world.  this is not hillary hating at all.  it is a suggestion we move on.  the voting is over it is time to get with it.

Re: hillary hatering diary

I didn't state this was a Hillary hating diary.  I was commenting on some of the comments here from Hillary-haters.

Please ask them to move on as well.

Re: MyDD's future is brighter...take the ball and

When Hillary concedes, then we stop attacking Hillary.

But as long as Hillary tries to steal votes in Michigan and Florida from primaries where no campaigning was allowed, as long as she tries to drum up anti-Obama resentment, as long as she keeps bashing Obama and helping McCain, then no. She can't have it both ways.
