Re: PA-Sen: State Party to challenge Green signatures

The big Green boogy-man is back! The courts will protect us! Run to the courts! Run to courts!

One of the things wrong with the Democratic Party is that it can't (or won't) challenge the Green Party's ideas....just its signatures.

Since Greens are mostly disillusioned Democrats, it would be much better for the party to appeal to them rather than make a cynical fool of itself fearing and fighting what amounts to a shadow.

I agree.

It would apparently kill us to nominate a real Democrat for the Senate, so what do we do? Challenge the Greens!

Because, really, all the Democrats' problems, both in Pennsylvania and nationwide, can be directly traced back to the Greens, and not the fuckups of our party's leaders.

Re: I agree.

Yes. The Green party is just a strawman for the Democratic party to blame it's own failures (to those who should be its own voters) upon.

But instead of giving them candidates they can vote for, it tries to take away their choice. The end result being badwill and people who just won't vote anyway.

The Democratic Party gains nothing but self defeating satisfaction from keeping Green candidates off of ballots.

The real problem is states like PA with unreasonable ballot access regulations. Can cut both ways, as it also burdens Libertarian and Constitution Party candidates.

Re: Re: PA-Sen: State Party to challenge Green si

Neither the Constitution Party nor the Libertarians had any problem getting onto the PA ballot in 2004, without any paid assistance from the Hoeffel campaign (which otherwise surely would have benefitted from having people on the ballot to take votes from Specter).

I'm All for It
This is no different than using the courts to play ballot games with Tom Delay's district in Texas. Good for the Dems.

Re: I'm All for It

It's funny how Dems don't want to take on the big bad Republicans and use DeLay's redistricting scheme against them in states controlled by Democrats, but don't hesitate to take on the puny little Greens and blame them for defeat.

Maybe "It's telling" would be more a accurate thing to say.

Re: Re: PA-Sen: State Party to challenge Green si

Since Greens are mostly disillusioned Democrats

Really?  So their donors are mostly disillusioned Democrats?  No, wait, they're all Republicans.  But the petition circulators must all be former Democrats?  Oops, they're actually Santorum campaign workers and paid workers funded by Republican donations.

The Green campaign in Pennsylvania is a complete and utter sham.   It's a Republican organized and funded effort to strip votes from Casey.  And the Democrats should play along why?  Please don't insult my intelligence so.

And there appears to be some credible evidence that they committed fraud in gathering their signatures.  Do you really want to associate yourself with a campaign that commits widespread fraud?

PA-Sen: State Party to challenge Green

So their donors are mostly disillusioned Democrats?  No, wait, they're all Republicans.

That may be true. But why isn't any sort of proof of it ever provided? I've seen too many self serving smears over the years to take partisan charges at face value.

But if even if Repos are funding the Greens, the way to counter it is to give people better reasons to vote Democratic -- and let Republicans waste their money instead of wasting Democratic dollars and goodwill on lawsuits to thwart democracy.

Blah blah blah, the old "I'm too lazy to use Google excuse."  There are none so blind as those who refuse to see.  So try here,  since you are lazy enough to get people to do your own research.

And if you want to come back with the "It's not my job to research your allegations" line, save it.  That's the same as admitting that you want to remain willfully ignorant because you can't handle reality.  You know, just like the creationists.

Re: PA-Sen: State Party to challenge Green

Thank you for the link. No thank you for the personal insults.

It's sad when Democrats act like Republicans -- but then, that's why some Dems vote Green these days.
