I did not ever say in the above post that being black somehow improves ones qualifications.

I did, however, say that it means I'm more excited about Obama's candidacy.

Just as I said that I would be more excited by a Clinton candidacy.

    You're throwing up a strawman.

I suppose, for me, being rather not a child of the culture wars, I can't fully appreciate what it is that makes the reaction to White Guilt so strong, and, as such, your point about the political violence of the 60s is both very interesting and well taken.

a vote of present has the same effect as a vote of no. do your homework. this was a strategy set up in consultation with pro-choice groups.

    I'm glad you did.

The metric of a popular vote is flawed on many levels. And I'm getting tired of hearing people claim that not seating FL and MI is undemocratic then turn around and "disenfranchise" caucus states.

while it seems that bashing has become a sport, in continuing to contribute to this divide - you are helping to ensure a republican wh come november.

This Obama supporter couldn't agree more.

    for this diary.

    Very informative.

I actually just spat up a little bit of the water I was drinking.

  • The reality is a lot more complex and nuanced than your aphorism here would lead us to believe. You know as well as I that the candidates signed a pledge not to campaign in either state and Obama didn't have his name on the ballot in MI.

I don't want to go off topic and get into some long argument over FL and MI, but I'll say this: there are plenty of good arguments for seating the delegates. There are. But it's simplistic to sum up the situation as undemocratic then declare Obama a bad Democrat.

This kind of black-and-white thinking is not good for the party and not good for your interests.
