Well since the diary is shit, maybe i can learn something here. Does anyone know if Obama regularly attended this church? I mean he was a member and had a relationship with Wright, but was he there every Sunday.
I kind of tend to doubt it given his religious background. But if he wasn't there all that much, it would lend credibility to his statements that he hadn't heard anything like this.
And, in fairnes, I will add that, as an Obama supporter, I think it is a perfectly valid criticism of him that he does not speak out againt these things more forcefully. I attribute it largely to his usual understated communication style when not delvering a speech in front of a live audience. But I think it is a valid criticism.
Other than what you identify, the other issue I'd take with the diary is that whileObama and his supporters have perhaps not sufficiently acknowledged the obstacles Sen. Clinton has had to overcome in this race, it is also true that she began it with what should have been overwhelming advantages.
That's their position indeed. But according to BTD they are not challenging the appropriateness of the penatly being imposed in the first instance. They are merely arguing that the penalities should be lifted to help us in the general. Thus they have abandoned any rules based claim they may have had and ceded the high ground.
Perhaps. But that argument hasn't gotten and traction and it's largely played out. Her stringest reason to stay in was to seat FL and MI. I'm sure she'll say that why she's going to the convention but she's conceded the high ground on the issue now.
This concession also could set the stage for negotiations between the campaigns.
