Obama and the MSNBC deal

We all know when John kerry was coronated by the media - before any
voter had a chance to weigh in. It was a public afair, with someone
like Pitt present, broadcasting it on the internet like it was
something good
http://www.truthout.org/docs_03/121003A. shtml

No such publicity this time.
However looking back something makes sense: When Faux started attacking him
last year, Obama declared he'll never go on Faux anymore.
I thought at the time that it was an act of courage from Obama - and
applauded it. While still happy that Faux got sidelined, knowing Obama
better - he never had an act of courage in his life. I believe it was
the time when the deal with Faux's competitor, MSNBC was signed and
sealed: "turn your back on them and we'll be your campaign surrogates".
What followed is my proof. The famous campaign memo which "was
not given to the media" - the one Sharptonizing the Clintons before SC,
was executed point by point by MSNBC - like any good surrogate would.
It would be interesting to see where the deal gets shoved now
that the RNC concerns go towards the GE.

GOP got their men. On both sides.

I think it's safe to say that the fix is in - the designated loser and the designated winner are installed - corporate media can stop pretending now.
For those of you who bought the Obama love from the past few months, try to remember past elections
I reminisced some of it here:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/dis cuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address =132x4346496
Of course, it was not just media, it was GOP-ers crossing over in all the open elections and all that money the Wall Street put into  a candidate whose legislative record is naming a Post Office and giving help to Congo

Obama's Congressional Record

110th Congress, Obama: no bills.

109th Congress, Obama:
S.2125 : A bill to promote relief, security, and democracy in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.Sponsor: Sen Obama, Barack (introduced 12/16/2005) Latest Major Action: Became Public Law No: 109-456

S.3757 : A bill to designate the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 950 Missouri Avenue in East St. Louis, Illinois, as the "Katherine Dunham Post Office Building". Sponsor: Sen Obama, Barack (introduced 7/27/2006) Note: For further action, see H.R.5929, which became Public Law 109-333 on 10/12/2006.

Why? because the Clintons can win elections against GOP-ers (not just Alan Keyes) - and also, one can let history show that any democrat did anything good after St Ronnie.
So, now, they fixed our primary for us.
I am taking some solace that they had to work much harder than in the past.
What next?
Watch the corporate media turn against their "noble warrior" and embrace the previously mocked McCain. Resko & other scandals kept under wraps will come out and then some.
Watch the former Obama "new voters" - GOP and indies go back home.
Which will lead to 3 possible outcomes:
1.Obama loses. very badly.

  1. The despised baby boomers rally around him anyway and he wins - but they steal it. Not wanting to be called a crybaby - he folds.
  2. A long shot - he wins and takes office. if you think you saw malaise during the Carter years, you ain't see nothing yet

Predictions for SC and beyond

1.SC is wide open - for the 3 candidates any of them could win
Polls are bogus as they fail to account for two things:
  1. how many women will show for Hillary
  2. how many GOPers will show for Obama (the "Bush OK-ed his spiritual adviser endorsing Obama was directive to go Obama rather than Edwards like they did in the past)
Caldwell said he called Bush to inform him of his decision to support Obama and that the president was "OK" with it, adding that the minister's presidential choice would not affect their relationship." http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/ap/tx/5470598.html
  3. If Hillary loses, she'll give a concession speech, thanking volunteers
  4. if Obama loses - he'll either give the victory speech again or blow town again and put somethng strange on his website
  5. Whether Hillary finishes 2nd or third by next Tuesday (Florida) it'll be forgotten.
  6. If Edwards wins, Obama is out that day
  7. Hillary will handily win most of the Super Tuesday, settling the primaries

Caucus - Star Trek style:

The name of the game is called, uh ...
fizzbin.
Fizzbin?
Fizzbin. It's, uh ... not too difficult.
Each player gets six cards,
except for the player
on the dealer's right, who gets seven.
On the right?
The second card is turned up, except on Tuesdays.
On Tuesday.
[Kirk] Mm-hmm.
Oh, look what you got, twojacks.
You got a half fizzbin already.
I need another jack.
No. If you got another jack,
why, you'd have a sralk.
A sralk?
Yes. You'd be disqualified.
You need a king and a deuce,
except at night, when you'd need a queen and a 4.
Except at night.
Right.
Oh, look at that.
You've got another jack!
Ha ha ha!
How lucky you are! How wonderful for you.
If you didn't get another jack,
if you'd gotten a king,
why, then, you'd get another card,
except when it's dark, you'd give it back.
If it were dark on Tuesday.
But what you're after is a royal fizzbin,
but the odds in getting a royal fizzbin are astron --
Spock, what are the odds in getting a royal fizzbin?
I've never computed them.
Well, they're astronomical, believe me.
Now, for the last card. We'll call it a kronk.
You got that?

Why Obama's remarks touched a nerve with us

It's his enduring legacy of BS.
I won't deal with people he killed in wars, Aids neglect etc. They've been brought up by others. It's the think tanks altering the national perceptions - that still at work today. Obama buying into it - doesn't help.
Before Reagan, liberals were the people challenging the establishment - for all the right reasons. They were the rebels, the idealists - and they were cool. Conservatives were - your obtuse parents, missing the point on everything.
By the time RW bought the media and their think tanks spread their memes through it - it was all upside down:
Liberals were irresponsible, dirty hippies guilty of past "excesses". You'd think they meant drugs - but Reagan's base knew it meant civil rights - one of those secret code words like "states rights".
Their think tanks came with the "political Correctness" - another way to legitimize bigotry. It perfectly turned the tables on liberals. Now they were no longer the cool rebels but the prissy schoolmarms who will hit you with the ruler if you "innocently" say "nigger" - just for laughs. The conservatives became the free spirited, humorous ones that the PC police just wouldn't leave be! (later on this image was reinforced with blonde spokespersons like Coulter et al) The think tank media started calling conservatives "the cool kids" and liberals the PC police. And all the while, they were laughing all the way to the bank, cutting social programs and the rich people's taxes.
The lies have been sustained by the "liberal media " (that's one meme that died!) to this day.
So, I am asking Obama's supporters - in all honesty: can you see why we hit the ceiling when I read stuff like:

"A lot of liberal rhetoric did seem to value rights and entitlements over duties and responsibilities."
and

"Nevertheless, by promising to side with those who worked hard, obeyed the law, cared for their families, loved their country, Reagan offered Americans a sense of common purpose that liberals seemed no longer able to muster."

If you can't just imagine, years from now, a candidate in your party, praising Bush's resolve in the war on terror and his accomplishments in promoting "family values"

For disclosure - I am speaking for people who LIVED during Reagan years. I am an undecided voter and have no goal of taking Obama down or helping any other campaign.

Facialexpressionsgate - it backfired. Let go of it!

Offensive threads keep appearing here - so many - I decided to start one on the issues too. We are being called vacuous
http://www.democraticunderground.com/dis cuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address =389x2639282
and excitable
http://www.democraticunderground.com/dis cuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address =389x2639447
I had voted against Hillary in the senate race, but yesterday, I could have voted for her. The difference between the Iowa women and the NH women was  Facialexpressionsgate.
MSM wanted to create a scream story and trained its cameras and venom on her non-stop. "The moment". "The anger". "The tears". Major news stories all.
They forgot that Hillary has been through stuff like this - and Bill's approval was at 70% during the impeachment.
The gender issue was irrelevant during Iowa. But was created by the unacceptable behavior. I guess it's up to you if this race is open (as I'd like it to be) - or it's sealed now.
And just so it's very clear - attacks on the candidate - on issues - do not create a gender issue. Only treating her as a "woman" as opposed to a senator - with a checkered record - does.

Obama - ahead of Clinton Machine AND the mighty Blogosphere

Mydd had an article where it explained the Obama movement
http://mydd.com/story/2008/1/5/223227/67 68
"A careful observer of the Obama and Clinton campaigns' youth turnout efforts could have seen the results coming. Hillary's team were told to invite young people over for a night of watching TV shows like Gray's Anatomy or The Office, and use that opportunity to engage them in a conversation on the issues. Obama's team went about finding its cadre of supporters by using their website, built off of the FaceBook operating system or platform, in tune with Millennial's social networking habits. Once they found potential supporters, Obama's team didn't ask them to watch television, something Millennials do infrequently, unless it's on their laptop with shows downloaded from the Net, but to hang out at the local bar. There Michelle Obama, or "the closer" as her husband calls her, asked them to come out on caucus night and change America's politics forever." end quote

To which I add - Obama got these new voters while Edwards who was the last one in internet activity in 2004, merely cultivated his old "netroots" (from Kerry campaign and a few other old venues - by pumping advertising money  Kos, Democratic Underground et al and surrogate posts and mostly - trying to craft for himself a persona to fit those blogs and forums demands (way different than the 2004 candidate).
But this is 2008 - and new people vote today, people who don't give a damn about Kos, DU, but somehow discovered Obama and were inspired by him and brought into the political process.
Sorry, "netroots" - the word itself is antiquated already...

Faux Forum massaging McCain last night

Last night - everyone was attacked except McCain (and Rudy). When Romney was on, you had writing underneath: "McCain is a Christian..."
or "Romney was born in Detroit..." Amazing manipulation - almost like the Simpsons episode on the debates..Poor Huckabee - I have never seen a GOP-er so savagely attacked on Faux!
But Chris Wallace was all hearts and smiles for McCain!
At one point, Chris Wallace was asking each candidate the "your worst" quesiton - just "girlfriend" and recommending Kerik" for Rudy, pardons for Huckabee, I think negative ads for Romney. The appropriate subtitles lingered on the screen.
For McCain : "You would be the oldest candidate - and said you'd only run for one term. Would you pledge that?"
Yup. Can't see anything worse about McCain than being old.

Republicans in the Debate on facing Obama

I was almost shocked when I heard the GOP candidates abswers on possibly facing Obama in GE. They were all...rational,
These were the same people throwing out puerile
quips about Hillary to amuse their supporters - totally out of context: "Maybe I'll send Hillary on Mars" heh, heh...
This time, they actually answered like candidates
instead of mental patients.
I think it's interesting that thay are not as
sure - at least on TV that they can treat Obama like that...
