Obama Can Win the Working Class ... all of them

"Broadening the tax code" is what Republicans say they want to do.   That will solve our problems.   That means raising taxes on the poor and working class.  It is that simple   For once Republicans are ADMITTING they want to raise taxes.

Arianna Huffington, How Sincere Is She?

The question needs to be asked.   This women is not without means.   She is also the former wife of a Republican.    She is not friendly to Democrats in DC in the least.   Granted bashing Democrats in DC these days is like shooting fish in a barrel. It is popular sport.   But what are her motives?   How committed to Democrats is she?  How committed to Republicans?

Democrats Grab Lead in Generic

In two of the lastest polls out - Gallup, and Reuters / Ipsos Democrats have overtaken the Republican and lead 46 to 45 in generic congressional polling.

Will this change the media obcession with calling the landslide complete before the votes are even cast?   Probably not.

But it is good news none the less.

More Than a Dimes Worth of Difference

 More than a dollar.

Remember?   A lot of posters here are probably too young.   A lot of the Democrats where unhappy that Clinton, forced to deal with a conservative controlled Congress passed a lot of legislation that was not exactly liberal.

When Al Gore ran for President in 2000 a lot of the detractors cried out "there isn't a dime worth of difference between Al Gore and George Bush."   This was their rational for staying home or worse voting Green, for Nader.

I have said here before that if I admire the conservatives for one thing, it is they have stuck to it, and never given up.  Their activists on am radio and cable tv never give up.   Their base, the most doesn't give up.   They just keep fighting.

From the early 60s and the days of people like Goldwater and Buckley and the emergance of Reagan, they are something like 'Terminators' ... they just keep coming.

Democrats seem to come and go.

The problem I see in Democrats over the last 40 years is:

 1) They simply lack the fight, the hunger to make the kill that the Republicans have.   Republicans love to win an election and then jump and down and stomp on their enemies throats.  Heck, even when they lose, they don't care, they keep stomping, keep kicking, keep punching.

Democrats win an election and run off to tweet, twitter, watch some vampire nonsense, or parse Ukranian elections.  Worse we seem to like quickly starting to attack the Democrat that just won.

 2) Many among us constantly get lulled into thinking oh the Republicans are no worse than us.  Our guy is not better than a Republican.   "There isn't a dimes worth of difference between Al Gore and George Bush." ... We'll there was, wasn't there.

Some people need to soul search and decide if politics and government is meaningful to them, as it is to the Republican base, still driven to conquer, still driven to grab a decisive majority on the Court, and if  they are in it for the long haul, or these subjects are just a diversion between other activities.

Anyone see Biden on Maddow last night?   He said it pretty plain and he was right.

The people we are opposing are scary and want to do harmful things ... crazy things.   We need to fight back and stop them.   The other side is playing of for keeps.   I hope that we are realizing that we need to be prepared to do the same.

No more 'racism' ... we need CODE!

Republicans are famous for their code speak.

Reagan at Philadelphia MS, Bush 43 at Bob Jones, Gingrich with his "Kenyan", Beck with his ... well he didn't use code, he just called Obama racist.

We need to be smarter.

We white voters are still the majority in this nation and white voters ... especially white racist voters ... don't like be called racist.

Stop using the term.  We are smart people.  We can speak in code.   Just say Beck or Gingrich are "showing their true colors" ... or something similar.

Oh and stop saying "rich".   Americans love rich people.   We like rich athletes, we care about Paris Hilton, etc. etc. etc.   Say "people making over 250,000" or the "top 2%" (on second thought say the people making over 250,000).   Attack the rich you attack many of our heros, celebs, etc.   Heck Obama is "rich".

Dems learn from the Repubs.  As much as I hate them, they are better at POLITICS than us.  Oh, don't give me some namby pamby you don't care about politics bs.   POLITICS IS HOW GOVERNMENT GETS DONE.   Like it or not.

Kos, Cry Babies and Nadarites

I have heard or read very little from liberal muckity mucks last evening, or this morning, about the total collapse of the Democratic base in yesterdays elections.  What was more important on the to do list yesterday than stopping by the polls to cast a vote?   I did however catch Kos, linked to via the Huffington Post, crying and whining and making excuses for the failure of the base to turnout.

If this guy is supposed to be one of the leaders of the liberal movement, then the liberal movement is in trouble if you ask me.

Gunshots Hit Peter DeFazio's Office, Federal Courthouse

I am sort of shocked that this is not getting more play ... or maybe it is and I am just missing it sitting here in front of my computer, but a gunman fired several shots at a Federal Courthouse in Eugene, Oregan, hitting the offices of (D) Rep. Peter DeFazio.

The attack happened overnight it appears when no one was in the office and no one was harmed.  The FBI is investigating.

Obama Takes It to Fox, Netroots Leaves Him Out to Dry

Where are the letters to the editors (stamped envelopes still get the most attention)?   Where are emails flooding in boxes?   Where are the callers to the radio talk shows?   Where is the support for Obama on the left?

This is reminding me of August and the townhall death panel bullshit, where conservatives, and drunk, lazy, or stupid (or all three) journalists ruled the day on health care and prgressive where on holiday.  The White House has again mounted a charge only to find their troops are skulkers.

Simple Executive Salary Fix

I have had this idea for addressing the outrageous executive salaries that we have seen explode recent years kicking around in my head and thought I would lay it out here and see if anyone thought it was a good idea.

In short I propose something of a luxury tax - on companies, not individuals - who take home extremely high amounts of compensation.
