• Yeah, Bachman and Palin and the teabagger set to invade DC are fine folk, warm and cuddly and sure not to do anything stupid like start a shooting war in the ME.

    Yeah right.

    We are the nutty ones.

The problem I see in Democrats over the last 40 years is 1) They simply lack the fight, the hunger to make the kill that the Republicans have.   Republicans love to win an election and then jump and down and stomp on their enemies throats.  Heck, even when they lose, they don't care, they keep stomping, keep kicking, keep punching.

Democrats win an election and run off to tweet, twitter, watch some vampire nonsense, or parse Ukranian elections.

    2) Many among us constantly get lulled into thinking oh the Republicans are no worse than us.  Our guy is not better than a Republican.   "There isn't a dimes worth of difference between Al Gore and George Bush." ... We'll there was, wasn't there.

Some people need to soul search and decide if politics and government is meaningful to them and they are in it for the long haul, or these subjects are just a diversion between other activities.

  • So we are as crazy as the Republicans now.  If we actually work to pass something... which in DC always requires some compromise ... then the people who reached out to one or two or three of the moderately sane Republicans are to be banished.

If that is true the government is truely screwed.   If Dems won't be the adults we are screwed.   Because we know the Repubs won't be.

The only one that comes close is Hillary, but she doesn't have the same political skills.

    But those ships have sailed.

We have to save the Obama Presidency at this point.

He could seriously be a 1 termer if the left and the netroots don't engage the teabaggers.

But look at the size of our agencies now.    They are so huge that 1 1/2 years in there are probably programs and little projects and departments, etc. that Holder / Obama haven't even come close to getting a handle on, heck they may not even know all of them.

The Dept. of Homeland Security is so HUUUGE how much change do you think can be made there in 4 years?

Add in the slow process of confirming people.

Our government just limps a long doing the same thing as yesterday, I bet, in many cases.

As for the smoke ... I miss it ... boy would I love some seedless hydro right about now.   But those days are over for me.   I've always joke I'll start smoking again when I turn 65.

Thanks for pointing this obvious fact out, as I have been saying for a long time that he is simply lingering in the mid 40s, not bad for a not great economy, slow to get better, and a bitter onslaught from Fox, AM Radio, and the Teabaggers.

We need to get the facts out and we need to gut the teabaggers (in a political way, not like an actual fish).

These teabaggers are f'ing crazy and it doesn't appear that either the Democratic or Republican establishment can check them.   I really think something has to be done by the Democratic grassroots, or netroots to do it.   They are getting no pushbook, they are getting a ton of free media time, and they are getting largely a free pass from every corner.

I say fight these f'ers like our lives depended on it.   If they ever gained real power ... the White House ... one of them just might unleash Nukes, invade Iran, etc.

Just curious ... and I admit I don't know how the DOJ works ... but is it possible that just 1 1/2 years in that Holder doesn't have all his people / policies set in place yet, and that some holdovers or career people are still carrying out old policies?

Maybe they are talking priorities 1 through 7 and this is number 8 or 9.

    I dunno.

    Just asking.

  • Well I am sure you will like John Boehner .. and maybe Mitch McConnell too ... a whole lot better.

The power you seek can only come over time.   I actually give the conservatives credit for this reason.  Since the 1960s they have toiled and kept at, dealt with setbacks,  to get to where they are today which is in control of one of the 2 major parties, and about to regain a serious chunk of power (The House) after having only lost it for 4 years.

Back in '06 I really thought the Democrats had a chance to maybe hold Congress for a good bit of time ... 8 to 12 years maybe.   Nope.   Liberals seem bent on giving it away much much faster.

Also remember that a lot those people don't even know they are racist.    Some do ... of course they lie about it and say they are not.

But I do think there are just some old, cranky "the world is going to hell in a had basket" types and I do there are some serious -- and crazy -- libertarians.
