Open Letter to FOX News

"Dear FOX News,

As a politically liberal, feminist leaning, 40 something women I just want to say thank you for your recent coverage of Senator Clinton's bid for the Democratic Presidential nomination. I turned to FOX in desperation when the fawning coverage of Senator Obama by the other cable news networks became too much for me to bear as a Hillary supporter. Please note that the non-partisan Center for Media and Public Affairs has recently found that the Fox broadcast network's coverage of Senator Clinton was the most fair from October 1st, 2007 to January 27th, 2008, with around 50% positive coverage. Compare that to the between 62 to 84% positive coverage of Senator Obama, and 58 to 64% negative coverage of Senator Clinton by the three other major networks during that time. Well done.

The Center did not study cable news networks like FOX's, CNN, or MSNBC. I used to be a faithful CNN viewer, and a casual MSNBC viewer but no more. Like I said, I switched to FOX in desperation because the other cable news networks have by and large given up all pretense of fairness and objectivity. I have been pleasantly surprised by the coverage I have seen so far. I had heard about sexist remarks made by FOX commentators in the past but I have witnessed none as yet. Apparently the leopard can change its spots after all. FOX's coverage has in fact been overall more respectful of my candidate than any I've seen elsewhere for the past few weeks. Keep up the good work. You've got my attention, at least throught the primaries."

It's come to this.

Re: Open Letter to FOX News

Nope. I expect fairness in journalism. Like I said, I turned to FOX in desperation. I never, ever watched them before. That they don't really care for any of the candidates, including McCain from what I can tell, keeps them somewhat honest. At least since I've been watching for the past couple weeks or so.

Re: Open Letter to FOX News
So you're saying that because they're biased toward covering Clinton favorably in order to secure her the nomination that they're somehow being truthful and fair? Wow.

Re: Open Letter to FOX News

No, I said they were fair, as in 50% positive coverage, and 50% negative coverage. They were also fair to the other candidates. Look it surprised me too. I was never a FOX fan and held them in disdain since the network began. I'm a feminist and thought of FOX as the anti-thesis of feminism. I'm just reporting on what I saw on FOX and other networks over the past couple of weeks. I know they have been horrible in the past.

Re: Open Letter to FOX News

ugh i can hardly stand to watch fox, even though i generally agree.  CNN hasn't been too bad actually towards Clinton these days, during the height of ObamaHype, they were awful, but after March 4th, I saw a few of them begin to like Hillary again.

Bottom Line: Pick Clinton, because Pastor Wright is a campaign killer.  Just a few ads with him in it in places like Ohio and Obama is done.

Re: Open Letter to FOX News

How though? It's too late to pick Clinton. Without FL and MI revotes its mathematically impossible to overcome Obamas pledged delegate win and his popular vote win (which stands at 800k according to RCP).

How should the party pick clinton with only 10 states left there is no ground to be made up?

Two words/kind just one:

SuperDelegates! If Obama keeps tumbling downwards and it looks almost impossible for him to win G.E, that is their responsibility to the party

Re: Open Letter to FOX News

by including the vote count towards popular vote. if they do , in thik she like 80k votes under obama right now

Re: Open Letter to FOX News
Oh my god, don't thank FAUX for anything! The only thing worse than appreciating the way Fox handles something is letting them KNOW you appreciated it. Once you start down that path, forever will it dominate your destiny.

Re: Open Letter to FOX News

I'm kind of scared that they will convert me to the dark side. So far I still believe in global warming and universal health care. I promise to visit CNet regularly. Honestly, I just turned them on one day to have a laugh at what they were saying but they turned out to be more fair to Hillary (at this point) than CNN and MSNBC.

Re: Open Letter to FOX News
Don't forget, though, they will turn on her. Hannity was yapping about Vince Foster recently (within the last month).

Re: Open Letter to FOX News

I know they will. They know they will. I will obviously switch at that point. It's not like they are in favor of her, they are just being fair, for the moment.

My goodness. The downward spiral continues in terms of whom you consider to be allies.

Re: Open Letter to FOX News

You do realize that if Clinton gets the nomination, they'll go right back to sliming her, right?

Don't kid yourselves.

Absolutely. I can change the channel at that point. I have the power!

Wright will be forgotten in 2 weeks, mark my words.
If the right wing fascists say him, I will say Hagee.

He may leave the news cycle, but

people don't forget stuff like that.

Re: Open Letter to FOX News

I hope you add this post script: PS- Thank You Sean Hannity for unciovering the truth, if it weren't for you we wouldn't know about Wright, or the fact that Bill Clinton let Osama get away, if you had uncovered tapes confirming both of these things we would have never known. Go John McCain

Oops, hit the wrong key there.

My teenage daughter caught me watching FOX the other day and gave me the evil eye.   She's an Obama supporter, of course, with a crush on Anderson Cooper who has a crush on Obama.   Nice threesome.   :)

I watch Greta's show.. I admit it.  I can't stand Hannity.  Bill O'Reilly is just a total assclown.

Re: Open Letter to FOX News

If you like FOX aka GOP News, you'll love listening to Rush Limbaugh.

Although I'm firmly committed to Obama, I will admit that the initial coverage was strongly slanted towards Obama. However, I do find much more balance than before.

It's just like overreacting to the newest rock star. The media builds them out so that they can then destroy them. It drives ratings which is what their bottom line is all about.

But please, that has nothing to do with the candidates. Either one of them is more than happy to accept an uneven playing field if it's in their favor.

Re: Open Letter to FOX News

I'll admit that the initial coverage favored Obama, but HRC didn't help herself much either with some of Penn's missteps.

The pendulum swung back towards favoring HRC over the last few weeks since Wisconsin... i imagine since the "Perfect Union" will likely swing back...hopefully this time though it will stay neutral.

Re: Open Letter to FOX News

...having said that...I'd rather endure ANY kind of coverage than to subject myself to the US's own Al Jazeera network.

How can y'all stand the REST of the content when they aren't favoring Hillary?
