Duckworth Opponent Roskam Wants MORE GUNS on Suburban Streets

I wouldn't have thought it possible, but the 6th Congressional District of Illinois may elect a new Congressman that is even more conservative on gun control issues than Henry Hyde.

In today's Daily Herald, ( story.asp?id=207984) Roskam came out OPPOSING A BAN ON ASSAULT WEAPONS, which even Hyde supports.

Of course, this would be par for the course for a candidate that walks precincts with the NRA.  ( .aspx?ID=8)  Conspicuous how they don't mention Roskam's name, isn't it?  The original invitation was all about Roskam, including a special campaign brief for members.

Who has more credibility on gun issues?  Tammy Duckworth, who knows the difference between assault weapons and guns that are appropriate for hunting or Peter Roskam, who supports laissez faire gun laws.

Just another example of the lobbyists propping up dangerous candidates for their dangerous ends.

Y'all should check out Tammy. (  Now that's a real war hero who knows what guns can, and should, do.

This is an outrage! Though I would, of course, expect something so heinous from Peter Roskam, the LESS qualified candidate in this year's 6th District race. GO TAMMY!

Uh, how can Democrats effectively stand up for rights when we don't stand up for the rights in the Bill of Rights?

Re: Duckworth Opponent Roskam Wants MORE GUNS on S

So Duckworth is going to run in a, what, R+8 district on the platform of taking your guns away?  Isn't that how we lost the Congress in '94?  And the  gun issue was high on the minds of Ohio and Florida voters in the last two presidential elections, too.  It's that Kerry NRA poodle that gave us four more years of Bush.

The top issues we lost over in '94 were the failure of Hillarycare and the so-called Assault Weapon Ban that bans guns based on their appearance.  Doesn't seem like we've learned any lessons, though.  This is exactly what to think about when you wonder why Republicans seem to determined to mindlessly hurt gays or women;  plenty of Dems would like to do the same to gun owners and small business.

Soo...Duckworth's opponent has the same position on the mis-named "Assault Weapons" ban that Russ Feingold, Byron Dorgan, and Mary Landrieu do.

What was the purpose of your post?  Do you want Duckworth to lose?

Re: Duckworth Opponent Roskam Wants MORE GUNS

Got the Brady Campaign pissed enough to protest the Roskam event.  And R+3.  Do your research.
