One Week Left to Help Jobless Ohioans!
by Nonpartisan, Wed Apr 22, 2009 at 06:41:53 PM EDT
A week ago, I told you about Energize Clinton County, a grassroots organization run by two recent college graduates (Mark Rembert and Taylor Stuckert) who want to turn their economically devastated community of Clinton County into a Green Enterprise Zone (an idea created by Obama green jobs czar Van Jones).
Mark and Taylor's non-profit organization is currently one of ten candidates for five $10,000 Energize Your Community grants administered by Mountain Dew. They have one week left to win this grant, which is awarded based on which of the ten community organizations get the most online votes. I'll let Taylor and Mark take it from here, from an e-mail they sent me this evening:
HAPPY EARTH DAY!!
THANKS TO ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE DEDICATED YOURSELF FOR THIS FIRST WEEK-----ONLY 1 MORE TO GO!
In case you haven't had a chance to vote, need a reminder, or simply need to know that it's almost over, THERE'S ONLY ONE WEEK OF VOTING LEFT for the grant.
So tell anyone you haven't told (possibly including yourself) that he or she should take a few seconds a day to vote for us to receive $10,000.
The link is: Energize Your Community
Here are the instructions....
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:
(1) Visit Energize Your Community
(2) Bookmark it and set it as your home page (it's only for 2 weeks)
(3) Click (1) "Project Gallery," (2) "Vote For Finalists"
(4) Vote for ENERGIZE CLINTON COUNTY (the first time you'll have to register an account to vote, but you only have to do it once)
(5) Repeat STEP (3) once a day FOR JUST ONE WEEK
This part of the process requires registering an account with the grant sponsor, Mountain Dew. If you would like to avoid receiving unwanted e-mails from Mt. Dew, please make sure you UNCHECK all the boxes during the registration to ensure that you are not added to any mailing lists.
We greatly appreciate your support!!
To those of you who've been casting your votes every day, or even those who've done so once: THANK YOU. To the rest of you, please vote for this deserving community organization today, and tomorrow, and for the rest of the week. To learn more about why, read this diary or go to the Energize Clinton County website.
Thanks very much for your time and support.
