    I completely agree with you.

It is racism at it's worse and I said yesterday, can you imagine if Hillary pushed all whites to vote for her because she's white, or the women because she's a woman.

I find John Lewis' switch equal to being a traitor.

He knows and is friends with the Clintons, he knows their hearts and that is the point of being a Super delegate.

I know you mean well with your diary, but I don't think it's a good idea to post things like this.

No one should or should not vote for someone for fear they might die.

You could say the same about Hillary, those that fear a black president probably fear a woman President.

Look at Bhutto - she just gave her life to run for Pres.

But we can't look at it that way.

I believe if anyone has knowledge that Obama or Hillary's security detail is not adequate, they should contact the candidate's campaign and the citie's police depart and lodge a complaint....

  • I'm not allowed to respond for fear of being kicked off the site again!! (lol)

yes, he will of course get the majority of the dem base - but I think Mccain has a good shot at the older white folks....and these are the consistent, reliable voters....and mccain has a shot at the security moms....

The voters that were going for Hillary based on experience....some of those voters may turn to Mccain...not all, of course, just some...

I remember the time. And, at the time I said, I would not have voted for it....BUT.....

She was a Senator from NY.  3,000 citizens in HER state were murdered.

The sentiment in the country at the time was COWBOY - go get 'em...

The thought at the time was that the intel was valid.

She made a LONG (and I mean long)ass speech on the floor specifically stating IT WAS NOT A VOTE TO GO TO WAR THAT GOING TO WAR WAS THE LAST RESORT....

She voted to support the President, which in past administrations, congress often voted to support the president in these situations....

The last thing any of the senators wanted to appear was WEAK.

Her vote was 'typical' among many democrats and republicans at the time.

So - looking back - I can completely forgive her for this.

    ESPECIALLY

When she has done so many other wonderful things for people throughout her life.

    AND

remember, her and Schumer were successful in getting BILLIONS OF FEDERAL DOLLARS to fund the new WTC.....

    PLUS

She was far more instrumental in helping the 9/11 widows and rescue workers get healthcare and funds secured....

among NYFD - they LOVE Hillary and she was far more popular than Giuliani.....in NY. based on all the work she did on behalf of 9/11 victims.

I also think if you are a Senator or Congressman that is truly, truly against the war - then be a real "man" like Kucinich and vote against the funding and call for bush's impeachment....

Obama never did this....his votes followed hillary's...

Well daydream #1 - she is the real and ultimate comeback kid!!!

    But more likely....daydream #2....

She wins OH/RI, does well in TX maybe wins/maybe not....

My suggestion as her campaign manager:  Take a vacation to Puerto Rico. Move out of the spotlight for 1 or 2 weeks.

Let the Rezko trial unfold, let the media go after obama and don't reveal anything.

Let Obama and McCain duke it out and see how he does.

If Obama falters, if he starts to lose ground, if Rezko proves to be a potential problem.

Come back from vacation and soldier onto a win in PA.

If Obama's momentum continues and he seems to do well against the media odds - then seriously consider dropping out.

    BUT

    She doesn't have to.

I am certainly one of her supporters that will go with her all the way to the convention floor if she wants to.....

Yes, I do give him credit for this. For exciting new voters and younger voters....

Maybe I'm a little skeptical and here's why....

For the most part - Hillary does better with the BASE of our party.

Obama and McCain did not do well with the base of their parties (yes, this is getting better).

So - what does that tell me? It tells me that Hillary has the support of the base of the party. So right off the bat she can rest assured that democrats will come out and vote for her in droves.

The Independents, however, are like bisexuals - they can go either way, yes, you need them in a general election, but they are fair weathered....they might stick, they might not.

So - I had always made the assumption that Hillary with strong support of the party (to win the nomination) could then start to peel away at the indies and repugs that are unhappy with mccain...

But with obama, he's got strong support from the indies and lesser support from the base of the party (working class dems) - so, that leaves an opening for McCain to pull some of these people over.

I don't believe in the polls. I always thought Hillary would be stronger in the GE against McCain on 3 fronts:

    1. she has the base of our party (he doesn't have the base of his party)

    2. she has the women's vote and could pull over ALOT more since this vote is 52-54% of the voting public, we have already seen the REP party lose women down to only 48% of their vote.

In Obama v McCain - many of these women (older white women and security moms) will break back towards mcain the war hero.

    3. Generational. Obama has the young vote vs. McCain having the old vote. But guess what? The old ones are the consistent voters. I always pictured that Hillary would pull these from McCain because she does very well with older voters.

So - yes - I will give Obama TONS of credit for bringing in new voters - but, please give hillary credit for decimating the republican party of female voters....in some of our primaries over 60% of dem voters were women!!! Unprecedented.

AND - WILL THE INDIES stick with Obama by the time the right wing is done with him? They are not to be counted on, in my opinon.....

I've been frustrated and angry for months.

It's so obvious to me, everything you are saying and yes, to me, it is because she's a woman...

But what is really frustrating me is that Hillary is THE woman. I'm hurt and angry because I simply don't see another woman on the horizon that will go as far as Hillary, that is as smart as Hillary, that is as capable of Hillary.

I'm watching MY dream turn into a nightmare - to see a woman President, but not just any woman - THE woman....it's not like I'd vote for elizabeth dole just because she's a woman....it has to be the right one...

Hillary is THE RIGHT ONE. and that's what hurts...

I hate to sound racist, but if women rallied round  hillary to the extent that the african american community rallies round obama - well - needless to say, she would win.

I believe the media, the right wing, realized early on that this was Hillary's biggest weapon - so painting her as divisive, polarizing, etc...it's a tool to scare people into not voting for her....

here are some results of Hillary vs McCain in the primaries regarding Independents:

CA - she beat McCain by 16% among Independents

NY - she beat McCain by 208% among Indies

NJ - she beat him by 73%

MA - she beat him by 116%

    GA - by 36%

    MO - by 15%

    TN - by 41%

Mind you - he had a lot of other republicans on the ballot with him, BUT McCain was the strongest of the republicans with Independents....

The truth of Hillary's REAL advantage over McCain - WOMEN.....

That's why the polls don't matter....

Women have left the Republican party.

If Hillary is not on the DEM ticket, women (especially older white women and security moms) will make their way back over to McCain....

  • on a comment on Don't Count Hillary Out Just Yet over 6 years ago

Yes the popular vote does count.

    BUT

I wonder how different it would have turned out if alot of those states (the bigger ones) like WA and MN would have turned out if they were primaries instead of caucuses...

I understand that it's irrelevant, but it matters because a primary is far more accurate and similar to the GE.

When 80% of the voters are displaced due to stupid caucus rules, then some of these states don't reflect the true choice of voters, particularly those that couldn't make the vote.

I think I saw some #'s from WA state primary and although Obama still won, it was only by 1-2%....very different story than what the caucus produced...

I find this whole thing very racist.

How disgusting that african american delegates (super and otherwise) are being pressured to vote for obama.

What if every white person was pressured to support clinton - wouldn't that be racist?

I lose more and more respect for obama every time I read something like this.

If I'm a personal friend of the Clintons and have been for years and years - I know their hearts and minds inside and out - well, then I'm not changing my vote.

That's the whole point of super delegates.

    Geez....

maybe we should pressure every female to vote for hillary.

Never count out a Clinton....they just keep coming back...like the ever-ready battery....

I still have faith and hope in the people of TX, OH, RI that they will see the "real" light.

I think if Obama wants to Privatize Social Security   - this is a BIG issue and against core basic democratic values.

but, I've never heard him say that - I don't see any evidence that this is true.
