Almost No Writers Needed- Palin Writes For Palin SNL Skit

Ok I don't know how comfortable I am with the skinning of Sarah Palin.  I thought the early eagerness to diminish her actually helped her (in the short term)  While I knew there was true irony  in the fact that this no sex ed, pro life, creationist had a pregnent teen, I also knew it was a loosing proposition politically.

With all those disclaimers, I say...

Sarah Has Jumped The Shark!

Re: No Writers Needed- Palin as Palin SNL

Is there supposed to be a video embedded, because I don't see anything but blank space under "See below..."?

Re: No Writers Needed- Palin as Palin SNL

Thank you, that's strange

When I pull up the post I see the NBC video, even when I'm not in "edit" mode...

Re: No Writers Needed- Palin as Palin SNL

Writers were definitely needed. Otherwise, we wouldn't have that great "I met Bono, the King of Ireland" line.

Re: No Writers Needed- Palin as Palin SNL

oh, they probably didn't really need them, just a transcript would have been as funny, but, would have violated copyright laws.  Would have had to  list her as a writer and then she'd claim the experience.

I'd like to use a lifeline...

Me too...

If she is elected, America WILL be a TV game show.

Sadly, for a lot of voters who support her, it is already.

Re: I'd like to use a lifeline...

That's what reality TV and non-stop celebrity coverage has done to's turned everything into an "I can do that!" situation. "Hey, being a candidate isn't so hard! I could totally do it if given the chance...and what do you know, Sarah Palin is just like me!!" It's sad that even in positions of global importance like this, we celebrate mediocrity and deride exceptionalism.

And if this isn't a new TV game show, then it certainly is a terrible Disney movie (as Matt Damon said). Coming to theatres in January 2009 if we can't stop its release: 1

Re: Almost No Writers Needed- Palin Writes For Pal

Bill Clinton on MTP made a good point today about the VP debate.

Anyone who is STILL undecided despite Sarah Palin's behavior and knowledge is, in a sense, (brain dead) --I mean, is still taking her seriously. Bill was arguing that Biden just needs to out-debate her (which he can do without even preparing) rather than attack her.

Re: Almost No Writers Needed- Palin Writes For Pal

I agree.  The mean spirited attacks are what helped create that McCain lead in the first place.  He can demonstrate her ignorance without actually going at her, simply by being Joe Biden and having a wealth of knowledge that she lacks.

Maritime border and trade missions

When Palin mentioned those two in connection with Russia in the Couric interview, it felt very rehearsed, especially the maritime reference. As if she really knows that term.

Anyway, why didn't Couric followup on the trade missions and ask her what she did during those missions that gave her an international perspective? Was it a real mission or some formal honoring a sister city kind of crap? Hell, DID SHE EVEN ENTERTAIN A REAL TRADE MISSION? The way Palin just mentioned it so briefly leads me to believe that even if there was  a mission, Palin just had a perfunctory role.

Re: Maritime border and trade missions

As it turns out, there are no record of trade missions, so far. lie_about_trade_missions_0927.html

Research doesn't show a single Alaska-Russia trade mission since former Democratic governor Tony Knowles visited Siberia in 1997, when Palin was running Wasilla, according to

When the reporter asked gubernatorial spokeswoman Kate Morgan about this issue, she refused to answer. Morgan claimed she couldn't legally discuss the matter because she is a state employee and the reporter had learned about the trade missions through the Couric interview, which stems from her bid for the Oval Office.

Re: Maritime border and trade missions

The democrats need to run a LIAR LIAR campaign against Palin by indirect supporters. We need to make this twit's name mud. It may not convert the base to our side. But it will at least dampen some of the exuberance which is what we need to prevent some of that exuberance from spilling over to the non -diehards in the base.
