Typical White Guy and my enduring prejudice

I'm guilty.  String me up on the nearest tree.

This typical, Jewish white guy who has never voted for anything but democrats.  This white guy who's first campaign was George McGovern in 1972.  This white guy boomer who fought against Vietnam and marched alongside all sorts of humans.  This white guy who in the first "Student Strike" was the first one in the ROTC building at ASU.  This fat Jew kid, white guy, democrat from a very lily white state has one serious prejudice that I cannot break.

I really, really don't trust, don't like and quite frankly run the other way whenever I'm near a Republican.

There I said it.  I am prejudiced against Republicans.

Can Obama cure me of my hate?

This prejudice is deep seated.  I just don't trust Republicans at all.  Not one of them.

It began in 1972 when this innocent kid saw his honorable candidate made to look the fool.  We heard of Watergate and all they did but did nobody ever wondered what else they did to steal that election.

Then I remember Jimmy Carter waiting out the hostage crisis while his presidency crumbled.  He was not smart to to that but it did give us Nightline which also promised to stay on the air until the hostages were released.  Well the hostages were released.  The Republicans had their friends hold them until Reagan was in office then that day it ended.  The wrong wing will tell us it is because the Iranians feared Ronnie but I believe it is because they helped him get elected.

I'm sure there are hundreds of other examples but we'll skip forward to Mr. Gore in 2000.  Does anyone reading this blog think that shrub won fair and square?

And Kerry in 2004, but wait.  As a Deaniac I witnessed the press take down of Howard Dean.  It began way before the scream but that is the best evidence.  Not only the press but the consistent republican cry of we want to run against Dean.  When rethugs say they want to run agin' someone you can be sure it's designed to scare Dems away.  They wanted Kerry, they got Kerry and then they proceeded to make the war hero look like a traitor.

In between 2000 and 2004, we in New Hampshire had our very own rethug theft.  John Sununu wanted to be Senator so badly that they paid professionals to jam Democratic phone lines on election day. All phone lines in all offices throughout the state.  Anyone wanting a ride to the polls was shit out of luck.  People went to jail for that one.

I really do not like Republicans Senator Obama.
I don't like them with a smile.
I don't like the with a laugh.
I do not like them Senator Obama.

I really do not like Republicans Senator Obama.
I don't like them in a caucus.
I don't like them in a primary.
I do not like them Senator Obama.

I am so prejudiced that I just can't get by the thought that millions have crossed party lines to vote for Obama.  There is nothing you can say to convince me otherwise.  And the Obama campaign actively sought their votes.

I believe that they intentionally screwed with the Florida primary in the hopes that something would happen like we have going on now.  I believe their well thought out plan was based on the knowledge that after 8 years of Bush and numerous scandals the GOP was totally screwed unless they could guarantee the Democrats nominate someone who is 100% un-electable or to so divide the democratic party that we'd have a hard time coming together in November.

Do you forget that back when Hillary was inevitable all we heard was "but the republicans want to run against Hillary".  We Clinton supporters tried to get you to think.  We tried to open your minds.  I guess we're just not as good as the Republicans at swaying the democratic vote.

They are really really good at what they do but for some reason, intelligent dems think that they don't do that anymore.  They don't screw with our primary's.  They won't try once more to pick our nominee.  Sorry folks but it is time you woke up and realized you've been swindled again.

Yes.  I am very prejudiced against republicans and democrats who fall for their tricks year after year after year.

You're not alone, Hampster...

I guess I'm also a typical prejudiced white guy. I also don't like CReeps. I've seen what Dumbya the Commander Guy has done to screw up my dad's medical care, and what Ahhnuld the Governator has done here in Kolifoynya to deny such "horrid" things as universal health care and marriage equality. I just don't like the GOP.

Re: Typical White Guy and my enduring prejudice
Tsk, tsk. Such divisive language!

I was a Deaniac, too. I thought he was the strongest choice for the nomination. But nooo, they told us. A Dean nomination was SUCH a bad idea. Kerry was SO much more electable. Hah! And look what happened.

Now Obama is considered the "electable" one. Just like Kerry.

about as electable as Kucinich

but wait Dennis maybe would do better than BO can.

Is it a prejudice we can cure

with hope?  Can we cure it by being nice to them?

I'd like to know.

Re: Typical White Guy and my enduring prejudice

Yep, we tried to warn 'em. Why would the Republicans vocalize that they wanted to run against Hillary so badly...to scare the Democrats to death, and into voting for Obama. The Republicans were the only ones to vet Obama, our lovely "liberal" media certainly didn't. It was just a matter of time before this was going to happen. It's like a wild fire on a windy day.

Re: Typical White Guy and my enduring prejudice

Oh NewHampster, you speak my language!  We are like a bunch of Charlie Browns believing oh so sincerely, that Lucy will not move the football this time, and every time, we learn that she got us again.

I, however, believe that Obama is curing me of that prejudice, and the only reason is that he is so cozying up to those dastardly Republicans that I am starting to equate them in my mind.

TO ALL OF YOU OBAMA SUPPORTERS:  I know his policies are vastly different then those of the Republicans.  It is something in his soul or demeanor that seems to be the same.  And that something is, he is a user.  He is playing us as much as they are.  And even worse, he is more like Charlie Brown then we are.  He trusts that the Republicans will support him in the general election, and he thinks that if somehow he wins the GE, he can count on them to work with him in the name of national unity and harmony.  What an ironic combination of traits.

I don't know if I will go so far as voting for a Republican in the fall if Hillary should not be the nominee (throwing salt over my shoulder as some sort of  residual superstitions) but I at the very least will be staying home.

Interesting description of BO

A user.

That nails it on the head.  We've all tried at one time or other to say what it is about him and you cj have put it all into one word.  User.

Obama is a user.  Using all of us.

Re: Typical White Guy and my enduring prejudice

i agree that obama's a user. i love this party too much not to vote for the nominee, however sorry a fucker he may be. by way of displaying my credentials, i voted for mcgovern, carter in 1980, dukakis, mondale, gore, and kerry.
