Tell her to leave the baby home.

Okay. This not going to be an analysis of the low and lower, or dumb and dumber points of La Palin's performance last night.
We all know that she isn't qualified to be VP, or for that matter, even Gov. of Alaska, or mayor of her town.
Her "creds" such as they are, are rooted in her "Mommy-ness" and "Fundi-ness". You know - all that right-wingnut focus on the family stuff.
Hockey mom, soccer mom, PTA mom and yes - mother of a Down's syndrome child.
Well Sarah, I give you a fail. After dozing off during the debate, I woke up right at the end to the sound of my husband yelling at the television.
My husband worked with Down's syndrome children for many years.
He wanted to know, "Why in the hell does that woman have her baby out at 11PM, being lugged around by a young kid who almost dropped him?"
Startled awake, I looked over as a crowd of tall, adult people rushed the stage, surrounding La Palin, and sure enough there was her youngest daughter, almost trampled in the stampede, looking like she was about to fall, lugging Trig. She looked overwhelmed, and lost.
Finally, when the cameras were trained on Mommy Dearest, she reached down, hefted the baby for a photo op - and then dumped him unceremoniously back on her little girl.
Trig - the prop. He could be a Cabbage Patch kid for all she seems to care.
My cousin called me - she's a retired ob-gyn nurse who ran a training program for young moms at Pennsylvania Hospital for years. She has been appalled by the flagrant violation of infant care protocols exhibited by Palin - bringing an infant into crowds, as a showpiece, without a concern for her baby's health and well being.
Why weren't those kids at home with a sitter?
My goddaughter is a nurse-midwife. Same opinion.
My students discussed the debate today in class; they also had real problems with her trotting out her "compassion" for parents with special needs children, when she exhibited not one shred of compassion when Joe Biden mentioned his own challenges being a dad dealing with injured sons, after the death of his wife and baby daughter.
She didn't blink; just nattered on with her Maverick mantra.
Hell - she doesn't exhibit any compassion for her own baby.
For her - children are for sound-bites, shout outs to 3rd graders who haven't got a clue, to show us all how she cares for kids, and families and "real" people. The same way she trots out words like "tolerate" for gay people and her "one of my best friends is gay" crap.
Sarah Palin - I don't know you. I don't like your politics, and I wouldn't want to go to lunch with you. I didn't like you, your lipstick, or your pit-bull persona, but as a woman, and a "mom" you disgust me.
Go home. Or leave you kids home. Or both.
I've had it.
End of rant.
