Obama Releases Latest Transparency Tool

I assure you that this kind of thing would have never taken place other than under an obama administration. It may turn out to be a gimmic and nobody in the administration pays attention to it.   But I have my doubts about that after we took a look at his internet team and how obama took strength and heed from his grassroots followers.

This is a fine tool and serves both obama and the Americans well. serves Obama well because he gets a live snapshot of what issues concern the American people / voters  . serves Americans because they can push their concern knowing that there is some chance that it would be looked at if the issues are a shared concern within our country.

ONLY thing I'm apprehensive about it the DOWN voting by fanatical obama fans.  Nothing close to even a peep about any displeasure at obama 's administration is allowed to stay on rather it gets down voted into oblivion.  I guess the man crush club from mydd infiltrated that website. :P

The Obama transition rolled out a new version of one of its transparency tools on Monday: an updated website that allows interested observers to more easily read and submit questions to the staff.

A few weeks ago, the President-elect's new media team put together an "Open For Questions" feature that provided a platform for citizens to query the team on relevant topics. The move was hailed by good-government groups as a nod towards inclusiveness and accountability. There were some complaints, however, as questions surrounding Obama's involvement (or lack thereof) in the Rod Blagojevich controversy were flagged by users and pushed to the bottom of popularity rankings.

Nevertheless, the general goal of the venture was met. Visitors to change.gov pushed to the forefront questions that they most wanted the President-elect to field. Now, they will have an easier time doing it. The new function to the site allows viewers to sort questions -- on which they can vote -- by category or topic.

Bottom line: 2 thumbs Up.

Why no link?

Afraid too many Obama fans here would down-rate your questions about his birth certificate?

I can tell it burns you to write diaries like this

I know you have to keep up the illusion of just a "concerned" Democrat to maintain legitimacy, but you're not fooling anybody.

Re: Why no link?

knowing that you walk with blinders on I decided to throw you a hint bone- within the quote in the diary- is your link.

by MumbaiBurns 2008-12-30 05:10AM | 0 recs
Did you remove the link?

Funny, if you had a link, it's now gone.

Anyway, it's shoddy diary writing to exclude reasonable links within the diary itself.  Even if it's in the link that you (don't) provide, you would be more convincing if you didn't make people Where's Waldo their way through.

Re: Did you remove the link?

OYE dunce. IT is within the quote within the diary and has been there all the time.

by MumbaiBurns 2008-12-30 05:20AM | 0 recs
That's not a link

You can click on a link.  "change.gov", while enough information for many, is still not a link.

Re: Did you remove the link?

Either you are lying, or you have no idea how to provide readers with a link.

Since I can see a web address in the quote you provided (but no link), I am guessing you are the latter.

Re: Did you remove the link?

and stooges roll in . change.gov is your link but it is not hyperlinked for you to click from here. can you manage to get your noses from the assumed position to visit and read up the link?

"hint bone"?

Dude, I totally popped a hint bone reading this.

Seriously, if English is not your native language, don't try to use too many colloquial expressions.  You will fail.

Democracy sucks. I'd prefer that a tiny yet fanatical fringe get to set the tone and agenda.

What species IS Obama? Homo Sapiens? If so, where are the DNA samples?? There are serious questions to be answered.

Re: Obama Releases Latest Transparency Tool

You complete the case. among everything written in the diary , you put your head down and charge at the one statement asking that it be free of your kind when warranted.

This is a classic example above of fanatical obamaites. It was even documented by politico that people like you guys can't handle any reasonable objections and questions on that site.

by MumbaiBurns 2008-12-30 05:05AM | 0 recs
Oh, documented by the Politico. Well then.

You mean the right-leaning website whose comment sections are nearly clogged with dead-ender Bushites?

The Politico is a good site, if you read it with the grain of salt that they're skewed Republican.

Righto. Here we go.

The top 10 things Mumbles really meant with the above:

#10. You're a perpetual brown noser.

#9. You're constantly burning up.

Re: Righto. Here we go.

#8.  You're such a liar that your nose reaches Hawaii, where it both meets Barack Obama and gets a tan.

Well, at least I tried...

Re: Righto. Here we go.

#7 You have a sunny disposition?

There are only so many ways to view noses and tans, 24/7.

by Sumo Vita 2008-12-31 04:24AM | 0 recs
And conversely

It seems you couldn't write a diary without your "man crush" fixation slipping in there. How shocking that someone commented on it!

Politico, wow.

Re: Obama Releases Latest Transparency Tool

Come on folks. I rarely agree ( dare I say never) with Mumbia, but he writes a decent piece about the the Obama website voicing general praise. He has a minor concern with dissent being voted down and out a  bit too quickly. A fair concern. And we pile on.

A case of a over reaction IMHO.

by jsfox 2008-12-30 05:20AM | 0 recs
My concern was procedural

He wrote a diary about a web tool with no clickable link.  He has no trouble linking articles that slam Democrats.  It's either intentional, or shoddy diary writing.

Sure I threw on some sarcasm, but Mumbles here probably deserves it.

Re: My concern was procedural

welcome to the INTERNETS.  when you see a link don't get all flustered that you have to copy and paste into the address bar and mommy did not prepare it as hyperlink for you.  I know you suffer from ObamaOfelia of the brain but that's no excuse not being able to go a web address because it was not presented as  'clickable' .

What an idiot.

I can do it easily

Some people are not as web savvy.  I like to think that these people deserve to have a link to this great tool that you're touting, especially when, in other diaries, you have no trouble linking the story that might be embarassing for Democrats.

I guess, what I'm saying is, if you're going to come to a progressive blog and pretend to care about progressive causes, you could at least try to be considerate of web etiquette, even when it goes against your agenda even a little bit.

Re: I can do it easily

Lookie here- we have judge Judy of progressive  netiquettes. Because lord knows substance does not matter , it how you put a lipstick on the pig that matters to you.

by MumbaiBurns 2008-12-30 06:37AM | 0 recs

Though I would've gone with the "Ann Landers" or "Miss Manners" of progressive netiquette.  Judge Judy isn't really known for massive amounts of tact.

Anyway, I gave you credit in my diary on this subject (look one up from here on the list).  It's the tactful thing to do.

I don't know what I ever did without you

It boggles my mind that somehow I managed to write about Obama's transition problems with NASA, Al-Qaida's complaints about unfair media bias, local Minnesota recount news, and personal accounts of political apathy I see in my daily life without your lead.

by Dracomicron 2008-12-30 06:53AM | 0 recs
Re: I don't know what I ever did without you

and the sum total of you is shown today to throw a hussy fit over a hyper link.  Have at it kid , be happy with your diary, it put few seconds of a smile on my face that I perturbed you again.

If anything, this has given me peace of mind.  I was having trouble finding inspiration on what to write about, what with all the media's blathering on non-issues like Caroline Kennedy or Pastor Warren.

Some people? no only a dunce like you cannot copy and paste an address while being registered on, of all things a blog on the web.

Re: I can do it easily

"the Democrat I'm" might have taken the initial comment as a suggestion, offered gratitude for the constructive input, and amended the dairy to include a clear link.

But then we wouldn't have all of these lovely cliche insults to entertain us.

Cheers, "the Democrat I'm."

Re: I can do it easily

the democrat you and you're pals are - are  the mirror image of our version of the bushies that hangs on the color of the skin of the diary over its content.

Re: I can do it easily

There is only one user I have encountered on MyDD who seems to have a sexual obsession with Obama: "the Democrat I'm."  No one else here regularly sexualizes discussion of the president-elect.

And I find your claim that my support for Obama is or was ever superficial or simple to be absurd.  Given that I have written diaries and comments that are critical of Obama, it seems impossible to substantiate.  But without that accusation, you have no real arguments against me.  So plug and play, my friend.  That seems to be your game of choice.

We certainly agree on the fact that I'm nothing like "the Democrat I'm."  I don't employ homophobic or anti-Semitic slurs.  I don't bring other users' families up to insult them.  I don't reflexively insult those who disagree with me.  I strive to be clear without relying on mangled cliches.  I am a very different kind of democrat than "the Democrat I'm."

May I ask you, for all the time you have spent on this blog, do you think you have ever persuaded anyone of anything or added anything constructive to their understanding of any issue?  And shouldn't those be the goals of participation here?

Re: My concern was procedural
A website address is not a link.  The terms link and hyperlink are interchangeable, no-one sees a non-clickable web address as a link.
Is it hard to copy and past the address into the address bar?  No.  But it is considered reasonable, and you obviously know how.  But instead you seem more interested in exchanging insults.

You're not going to get me to respond in kind to your calling me an idiot.  I corrected your mistaken terminology and if this is the level of response you're able to muster, I'm just going to shrug and move on.
by bottl4 2008-12-30 07:54AM | 0 recs
Re: My concern was procedural

the terminology and reason why i called you a follower of idiots is because , your argument is merely your perception. setting aside the fact it affirms by statement when you join in a debate not about the diary but why the link within was not hyperlinked.

a Link is the address to view/entry point into a site on the net or network and a hyper link makes it so that reaching that gateway from within the post is possible( if allowed).

by MumbaiBurns 2008-12-30 09:29AM | 0 recs
Re: My concern was procedural
Well, at least you're responding to the content of the critique now.  It is not my perception that a link is not just a web address, it is multiple sources that indicate that a link is not just a web address, but "a selectable connection".
This was just one of multiple entries I found defining link in this manner.  I'd be interested to see if you can point to a single source backing up your definition.

Say, I know what a stickler for rules these PUMA's be....They act like MyDD police whenever something gets in their snout they don't like.

Well, I think there is some rule about 2 diaries per day.

That means, Mumbai is done for today, no more shots at glutting up the diaries with his pearls of..well, you can all decide what they are nuggets of.

by WashStateBlue 2008-12-30 07:07AM | 0 recs

PUMA may not ever have a single mention after this election cycle but rest assured the collective pole they put up your ass, chaffed it, would assure you hold on to that acronym for the rest of your pathetic life.

Haha.  I'm sure PUMA is absolutely thrilled that the sum and substance of their political contributions is to irritate people on message boards.  Allegedly.

Here's to hoping it stays that way.  Anyway, we can't be too irritated or we would be here: MyDD is where they clumsily attempt to interact with civilized society.
