I Hope Hillary Is Laughing Inside [UPDATED]

I hope Hillary is laughing inside. Eric Holder and Hillary Clinton were the ones who were supposed to face trouble in the Senate for confirmation. Holder and Clinton were supposed to face tough hearings in the committees. But....what has happened?

Richardson....gone, Daschle.....gone, Nancy Killefer....gone. Geithner almost faultered on his own tax issues, like Daschle and Killefer.

What happened? There was a public vetting of Clinton and Holder but not of the other three.

Richardson can go suck an egg...he deserve what he gets.
Dachle did not like Clintons and said it publicly...karma comes quick doesn't Senator?
Killefer sounds like she got caught up in the Obama elite club.
Geithner barely made it after a thin public vetting before his hearing.

Eric Holder is now in charge, the news is not focused on him...

Hillary should be laughing inside, her credibilty just keeps growing.

Go get 'em Mrs. Clinton.

"I talked in my confirmation hearings about smart power. Well, smart power relies on smart people, and we have an abundance of them in this building and at USAID. But I’ve also told my teammates in the State family that we’re going to have to be smarter about how we do what we must for our country. There are many ways that we can improve on what we do on a daily basis. And I want to work with my friends in Congress on behalf of our Administration to really look for those efficiencies and those changes that will make what we do more effective, more cost-effective, so that we can be out there around the world delivering America’s message, certainly doing all we must to protect and defend our security, but also advancing our interests and furthering our values." Hillary Clinton 2-2-09

That is leadership we can believe in too.

Re: I Hope Hillary Is Laughing Inside

I think people generally agreed that she'd sail through confirmation.

Holder was the one that people thought their might be problems with, but it had nothing to do with your Clinton fetish.

Re: I Hope Hillary Is Laughing Inside

Clinton fetish or not, they were grouped together as to who is going to have the toughest time to be confirmed...and it wasn't them.

I find kind of interested that half of the problems makers for Obama are the ones that disassociated themselves from Clinton.

Re: I Hope Hillary Is Laughing Inside

On what planet?

The reason Holder was supposed to be problematic was because Senate Republicans said publicly "we are going to review this one very carefully, specifically his record of pardons".  The theory that I heard the most was that they were running interference for the White House in case Bush decided to pardon everyone, he could get away with it if you also had the Marc Rich pardon in the news simultaneously.

I never heard a single person say that Clinton would have a problem.  Every single talking head on CNN and MSNBC (I don't watch FOX) actually said the exact opposite.  Why would she?  She's qualified, she's a former Senator so she knows the people voting on her personally - it's obvious.

Thanks for paying attention everyone.

The problems:
Clinton Foundation
Her campaign debt (do me a favor and research the McCain/Feingold law before you write an unknowledable response)
Her own help with the Clinton Foundation
Her vote on the Irag War
Her vote on the Iranian National Guard
Her advisement on the Kosvo War

So before you blow this dairy off....please stop picking and choosing what you want to hear on the networks. Go back on YouTube and see what critisms came forth when the news broke.

I believe now she is all laughing....but not at Obama now...

But it also requires some training.  Most people, who are not skilled in the arts, begin by blowing diaries ON.

Blowing diaries ON is a very boring (and spiritually degrading) experience.

I agree with fogiv if she is laughing at all she is laughing at the absurdity of this diary and the PUMA class in general.

Wow, what a diary!

Do you owe Hillary money? Do you have a crush on her and hope to sleep with her? I mean, this diary is so pathetically absurd in its bitterness towards anyone who has ever spoken against Hillary, I simply had to ask.

No one who was credible, thought Hillary would face a tough confirmation. No one!

What has Richardson done to deserve such emnity? There has not even been an allegation of wrongdoing against him...why are you still bitter? Would Richardson's endorsement have somehow let Hillary come back from the dead, politically speaking? No!!

The Obama elite club? Are we back to this nonsense? As if Hillary Clinton, a multi-millionaire former US Senator, former First Lady, current Secretary of State is simply a working gal fighting those damn blue bloods. Are we really back to that nonsense?

Sounds like Sarah Palin logic to me.

Yes, this is the universes scale for karma

Is all measured vis a vis the Clintons.

Dachle did not like Clintons and said it publicly...karma comes quick doesn't Senator?

I know this is going to come as a shock to the PUMA class and it's fellow travelers, but all problems that befall people are NOT traceable back to if they were supporters of the Clintons.

Daschule, Richardsons wounds were self-inflicted and had NOTHING to do with the Clintons, if or when they betrayed them, etc..

This world view, that everything relates to the Clintons somehow is a very strange thing indeed, it certainly seems to be the overriding focus of a suprising number of bloggers viewpoints.

I disagree with the premise...

No one expected Clinton to have a tough time being confirmed. Aside from the collegiality of the senate, Hillary gained all the credibility she needed by coming within inches of the presidency.

I don't hope, but expect that Hillary is probably crying inside considering she totally got pawned by Obama and his campaign. He said he was going to bring change to Washington, change even from the Clinton era.

So far it looks like same old, same old to me. I don't think even Hillary would have nominated someone like Gregg to commerce. LOL!

Re: I Hope Hillary Is Laughing Inside

As an inveterate Clinton supporter, I am much impressed by President Obama.  He has proven himself immensely intelligent, perspicacious, and most meticulous in his Cabinet nominations.

He may well become one of our greatest Presidents, and I will be among those honored to have proclaimed him as such.

Regarding the several also-rans, it is a fact that the Clintons, being long in the international news and long investigated, have also long been vetted.  Surviving many years of Kenneth Starr inquisitions makes any subsequent investigations seem tame by comparison.

The truly odd thing about the Clintons is that while much of the mainstream media has hated them with very strong invective for many years, the Clintons ultimately prove triumphant, while many less seasoned politicos fall to the wayside.

Bill Clinton was after all, "the one that got away," and he was not, as were members of the Bush dynasty, "to the manner born."  Yet most tellingly, the elder Bush and Bill Clinton have become very engaging friends--and their recent joint public appearances are marvelous to behold.

I believe that President Obama came to understand well that Clinton genius for survival, and political persuasive skill that is pure platinum.  And President Obama knew when coming to the presidency that for much of the world the Clintons are superstars.

Thus, selecting Hillary for Secretary of State was a brilliant move, because it indicated a "two-fer"--two stars on the world stage, long ago vetted, long ago proven tough enough to survive both Ken Starr and impeachment.  Even their most vitriolic adversaries have a sense of grudging respect for a couple who have been through the ringer--and then some.

But now is not the time to open old primary wounds.  The nation, indeed the world, is teetering on financial collapse and polemical turmoil.  Now is the time for rational thought processes to prevail.  And President Obama has proven himself brilliantly suited to the task.

I will always believe that next to the towering FDR, Bill Clinton was the twentieth century's greatest American President.

No, not the overblown media honey Ronald Reagan, who in fact did not end the Soviet Union (it imploded) and whose savage economic policy ("greed is good" was the mantra of the day) in fact led us to the financial crisis we are in today.

No, not Lyndon Johnson, who while a superb legislator, was a disaster regarding Vietnam and the internal turmoil that war forever engendered.

And no, not Theodore Roosevelt, who while a Reniassance Man, was also a very mypoic jingoist, nor even Woodrow Wilson, the professorial visionary who was also much too aloof and dispassioned.

But yes, Bill Clinton, whose 1994 budget bill was passed without a single Republican vote, costing the Democrats the Congress that year.  But which then proved to create the longest peacetime expansion of the United States economy in the nation's history.  And who, while maintaining peace on a world stage, successfully concluded the Kosovo War and brought lasting peace to Northern Ireland.

What Bill Clinton might have achieved with a Democratic majority for the whole of his terms, and a Press less prone to condemn his every turn, one can only imagine.

But for FDR, Bill Clinton was the twentieth century's best.

And I believe that President Obama may well be regarded one day with the same reverence that is FDR and Lincoln--the Presidents with whom he most relates.

But if President Obama's greatness even matches Bill Clinton's, he will still be regarded as one of the nation's truly great Chief Executives.

And this Clintonite is very happy with the actions of President Obama thus far.

I have a feeling Hillary and Bill have bemused little grins on their faces about now.

Bill Richardson can go to hell.  Same with Tom Daschle, a guy who goes measure for measure with any corrupt Republican.  He and Pelosi pressued the super-delegates to endorse Obama.  We know goddamned well what they did to Hillary.

And don't forget Sweet Caroline.  Her Uncle Teddy (another Hillary back-stabber) didn't succeed in getting his inept niece that nice Senate seat that Hillary resigned from.

F*ck the bunch of them.

What goes around comes around.

Hillary Clinton is one of the strongest, most honorable Democrat leaders in the country.

Well if the economy does not turn around either, all the news papers and pundits predict a one term President Obama.

Re: I Hope Hillary Is Laughing Inside

All the newspapers and pundits were predicting Clinton vs. Guiliani for the Presidency so we know how great their fortune-telling powers are...

I derive no pleasure

As a strong Clinton supporter, I derive no pleasure from missteps by the Obama Administration. This neither benefits the party nor the country. It's a sad day for the country.

Oh, yes

The country will never recover from Tom Daschle withdrawing his name from consideration as HHS Secretary.

This is truly a sad day for America.

I'm wearing a black arm-band, myself.

Re: I derive no pleasure

I think you're laughing your ass off at Obama at this point, and desperately hoping that Hillary Clinton runs in 2012. Though what you think Clinton could possibly promise the Democratic party at this point is very curious.

Re: I Hope Hillary Is Laughing Inside [UPDATED]

Of course she is ... she switched to Geico and saved a ton of money on her car insurance.

P.S.

Can we get rid of our Nancy K. and bring "Nancy Killefer" back?

Re: I Hope Hillary Is Laughing Inside [UPDATED]

I truly regret that Obama's picks are all having problems. It's a shame that the so-called smartest people can place themselves in such a bad light. Now, I'm a big Hillary supporter as well, yet I want Obama to succeed because it would help the country immensely. Also, with a successful Obama, there may be a Hillary redux, come 2016.

Re: just one question...

I, too, agree that there are many sockpuppets in this thread.  Another brilliant post, Canadian Gal.  I hope to see more!

Re: I Hope Hillary Is Laughing Inside [UPDATED]

So apparently, "Karma" is the idea, central to the Hindu, religion that the flow of world history is specifically designed to punish those insufficiently loyal to Bill and Hillary Clinton.  Amazing that the better part of a billion people worldwide believe in it.

If I had a cult of a few hundred people thinking that the world works literally to my exclusive benefit, I'd probably be a little overconfident too.

Re: I Hope Hillary Is Laughing Inside [UPDATED]

I did vote for Obama and I support him now, because he is the leader of our party and he will be the nominee in 2012. However, with that being said I truly enjoyed watching Bill Richardson go down in flames, Caroline Kennedy was more self inflicted but still enjoyable after she railed against dynastic politics. The Clinton Administration is well represented in the Obama admin. Other than the fuck up of having Tim Kaine as DNC Chair, everything is fine. It could be worse: Kathleen Sebelius would have put the entire nation to sleep if she had a leadership role.

Highly shame rec'd!

Enjoy your spot at the top of the MyDD w(rec)k list. It's precisely where such bitter, vindictive drivel belongs.
