Legislatures granted tax breaks that made it feasible, without which those plants wouldnt' have happened. The Reagan admin went protectionist a bit in the 80's when Japan refused to open it's markets. The building of the plants was a Japanese concession to lower the tariffs.
He doesn't have a point, not a legitimate one anyway. His "point", apparentely, is that India should be above reproach and that past injustice by someone else gives India a pass on its policies, many of which are damaging its people very badly.
What I find unpleasant and contemptible if your throwing around baseless charges of bigotry. I dont hold American Indian IT workers in contempt. I do hold those, both American and Indian and any other nationality, who are bleeding this country through outsourcing procedures in contemp as well as those who abuse the H-1B Visas. If you want to debate, fine, but drop the bogus racism charges.
How about applying some logic? The Americans who hold jobs from Japanese employers HERE aren't "Poaching" anything. The Japanese companies opened plants here did so as a condition to entry into the US market. These jobs wouldn't exist in Japan anway, since they were allowed to build the plants here as a precondition to allowing more of their cars to be sold here.Indian companies are using predatory outsourcing to ship jobs from America to India and are not creating net jobs here. Plus companies like Wipro and Tata are abusing the H-1B process to bring lower paid workers here.
Care to explain how a nuclear program (Not generically "Defense spending" deters terrorism from Pakistan (Hint: it doesn't) Yes we have problems, but to compare the our problems to the enormous problems of India is laughable. Katrina left thousands homeless. India's floods leave MILLIONS homeless and we don't have anything approaching 40% illiteracy.
A country with 40 percent illiteracy doesn't need a space program or more nuclear weapons. It is not a superpower and shoudlnd't strive to be one. It needs schools, teachers, paved streets, sanitary facilities, potatable water and power that doesnt' cut out for hours or days at a time. India needs to get its own house in order and stop trying to steal prosperity for a chosen few by poaching US jobs with sleazy outsourcing practices.
