I blame US companies the MOST for this, but let's not kid ourselves, Indian companies are share the blame for this too. NASSCOM squeals and sends its lobbyists here any time someone even mentions keeps some jobs here and Indian firms do use the H-1bs to get a toehold here and displace American workers.
Again, this diary is about India. In much the same way, I would't criticize George Custer in a diary about failure in the Vietnam war. I don't have to explain anything to YOU. And you are quite wrong about Indian companies being a "small fraction" of the problem with H1bs. Indian firms take the majority of such visas.
Fair enough, But they have still never signed onto the NNPT and apparently don't intend on doing so. This deal to me seems penny wise and pound foolish and India appears to be rewarding US efforts by playing us v. Russia in the nuclear race. This doens't bode well for nuclear non-proliferation, IMHO. I agree with you about Pakistan adn our role there and yes, India is more responsible than Pakistan is with nuclear technology.
I havent blamed ONLY Indians. I hold Americans who do this in equally low regard. (Actually moreso, since as Americans, they should care about the well being of this nation.)This diary is about INDIA for Christ's sake. That's why the focus is on India. You see fit to interpret any criticism of it as hatred of Indians, which is not the case.
I don't single out Indian companies, but this diary is about India, hence the focus. And I see from you the same arguments that I see from free trade fundamentalists that we need to outsource to be "Compettive". Supposedly, this "Competitivenes" was to provide increased shareholder value. How's that working out?
I don't dislike the Indian people or India itself, but it your intellectually bankrupt attempt to squelch legitimate criticism as this diary attempted to do, you rely on the old stanby of personal attacks of "Bigotry" rather than facts and logic. You even accuse me of having No "Hard facts" when in fact, I am the only one who posted a factully based link to back up an allegation, in a case where I knew more about India that you did. And yes, I do see other viewpoints, but quite frankly in this debate, they are being thrown about as cavils, as if these somehow negate valid criticism. Good day to you.
All of Western Europe is NOT doing this. Britain is, but you will not see countries like France outsoucring governmental functions for example, to foreign BPO's the way US governmental agencies have. As for Indian poverty, we CAN influence that. We let India thumb its nose at the NNPT and then agreed to sell them nuclear technology anyway. We HAD leverage and let it go.
