For about the tenth time, This diary is about India. If it were about China or the United States I would be talking more about them. I hold all companies to this standard. As I have stated above I hold American companies in contemp for this.
It's one thing to make an argument, it's another thing for the argument to be CORRECT. Most offshore outsourcing projects fail to achieve the cost savings advertised and these BPOs almost never mention the failed projects and inevitable cost overruns. I've got a problem with companies that play dirty pool like this.
I'm wide awake thanks. Of course there's Siphoning going it. That's what BPO's do. They set up a skeleton crew here and come with intellectually dishonest presentations about how outsourcing saves $$ (it usually doens't) and they regurgitate catch phrases like "Core competencies". Are you sure you aren't Tom Friedman posting under an alias? And its' not "THE AMERICAN WAY" to send jobs fleeing the country. It's a small, warped portion of American that believes that this is good and helpful. Riddle me this: If outsourcing is so good for America, why won't the Bush admin release the report on its impact?
Both sides are to blame. As I have stated before I LOATHE the Americans who do this because they should care about jobs and economic growth in America. That said, it takes two to tango. Indian companies are predatory in the desire to syphon jobs away from the united states and they tend to be as intellectually dishonest about the alleged benefits and utter the same free trade shibboleths that American outsourcers do.
Wow. Could you cram more mindless French bashing into one post? France is in better stead than most of the world, both economically and socially. I'll take France's literacy rate, poverty rate, infant mortality rate etc over most countries in the world.
This is a false choice offered as part of the Free trade religion. No one's, at least not me, is arguing for US based companies that ONLY hire American workers. What we are arguing for is for American business to stop irresponsbily outsourcing. They come across as zombies chaning MUST. OURSOURCE. NOW rather than considering that their actions might be hurting the United States. Does anyone really believe American express would go out of business if it had its call center here and employed Americans (odd concept for an American company) rather than Bangalore?
