Most NY Democrats voters were Clinton Supporters, so it's hardly surprising that most of the complaints from Democrats about Kennedy would be coming from Clinton primary backers. It doesn't follow that they are bitter PUMAS, however.
Nobody would have serious problems against Peter King. It's virtually impossible for a Republican to win statewide election in NY anymore. If King runs, he will lose by a solid margin to any Democrat short of Elliot Spitzer or Al Sharpton. The way things are going, he probably can't even count on safe re-election to his own House seat for much longer. The NY GOP is a dying breed.
The Constitution sets bare minimum legal qualifications. Millions of New Yorkers meet those those standard, including many who have done much more to serve this state. I admire Caroline Kennedy and is she does get the appointment, I can live with it. But I wish someone else would get it.
But at least Clinton had to run for the seat and win in a highly contested election. If she gets it, and it looks like she probably will, Caroline will have it handed to her and her first election will be as in incumbent.
I am not particularly worried about having the name recogition to take on Peter King. The NY GOP is a dying breed. It's a matter of time before King won't be able to hold his own House seat due to demographics. Rudy, I think, is finished in any sort of politics too. I think Carolyn Maloney, if even the opportunity, would defeat him by a solid margin in a senate race.
How does this clown remain here? As I have said before, I have no problem with opposing viewpoints being presented here, even far right one, if they are done in an intelligent manner, with some facts and substance and without moronic right wing talk radio cliches. Sadly, this poster fails in those areas repeatedly.
