Time to Rally Behind Obama

The cover of this week's New Yorker (coming out tomorrow) depicts Obama as tribal, Michelle as a 70's Afro-coiffed machine-gunned First Lady...they are burning the American Flag in the fireplace..and there is a picture of Bin Laden on the wall that looks somewhat like Obama..WTF!! This is a liberal mag..and obvious to us..it is supposed to be satire..but how many people who hold or are leaning towards these convictions about the Obamas..will believe this is a verificiation...What were they
thinking?

....damn....In one singular move, The New Yorker is about to undue 19 months of campaigning. Fuck.

Taps talks about it being a recruitment poster for those on The Right. I can't believe this. If I had a New Yorker subscription...I would cancel it. They may think it is 'Ironic', but this is why I always bitch about Democrats. This gives Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity a green light to do the same thing, just as Hillary's attacks are being used to bring down other parts of Obama's case. I'm not 'offended' by the image.

I actually think it is funny and ironic, especially the flag burning and the terrorist fist jab, but I am outrageously offended by the bad strategy of it. I mean, I see Rivers' point in the comments, that it could be scary-brilliant by pre-empting everything that would come, but I'm upset with it right now. Obama is just about to leave the country on his first foreign policy trip. No one knows what is going to happen, but given our image abroad, I think his appeal may be exponentially greater OVER SEAS than here. I think it is going to get crazy attention. So why would anyone want to distract from that? Obama is going to rule the next two weeks of news cycles with POSITIVE coverage of his trip abroad and the hope that the world sees in him. Obama has an 85% approval rating in France. Restoring respect for America is one of Obama's biggest draws as it helps all of us financially and security wise. America not trusting him on foreign policy is a chief barrier to his victory. This trip goes a long way to start overcoming that. And what does the most liberal magazine in the country do? They throw out something to derail all of Obama's carefully laid plans. Fuck you, New Yorker. Fuck you.

I Just showed this to my wife. She said "If you wouldn't have told me that was satire, I would have thought it was serious. I don't know anything about the New Yorker." She also said "The irony will be lost on stupid people". This is why we should be upset.

'Netroots' should be ashamed of themselves

No doubt this is a Democratic year, but that doesn't prevent Democrats from trying to find a way to lose. The current methodology is by attacking their candidate. Everyone knows The Right is unhappy with McCain, but the reason they win and Democrats lose is that they will choose party over candidate. Not the Democrats, who have a certain knack for screwing up sure things.

It is very simple really. The media is like a two-year old child. They will repeat what they are told by some outside source. If the Democrats profess happiness with Obama, all stories will reflect this and will shift the focus onto McCain's problems. But when there is dissatisfaction in the ranks...MYDD, Daily Kos, Huffington, TPM, Open Left, etc.,...all the sudden Obama has liabilities which leads the dumb media to exploring all of this other liabilities(Islamic name, black, Rev. Wright, no experience, etc.).

All liberal bloggers who have put this dumb FISA issue and Obama's move to the center up as a rallying cry on their sites, which he must do to win, morons, as not enough people agree with you and your leftist views, should be dragged out back and beaten....to quote Bill McNeal.

He broke faith,
said Matt Stoller, a political consultant and blogger at OpenLeft.com.
Obama pledged to filibuster, and he is part of that old politics, in this case, that he said he wasn't. It will spur us to challenge him
.

It angers the blogosphere to its core
, said Jane Hamsher, founder of the popular blog Firedoglake.com.
We want to be able to know: What did you do? If we can get that information, we can make sure they don't do that again. We can get the public engaged
.

Another Republican term is what angers me.

Markos Moulitsas Zuniga, founder of Daily Kos, said Monday on MSNBC's "Countdown With Keith Olbermann":

Let's be honest, it is either Obama or John McCain. So we really don't have much of a choice
.

At stake for Obama in the FISA vote is the intensity of support for Obama, Moulitsas said.

What is at stake in the 'Netroots'. Mr Moulitsas is your grandstanding attempt to gain further entry into the mainstream. With all it's fame and fortune at the expense of electing a Democratic president.

He goes on:

I don't want to hear him talk about leadership. I don't want to hear him talk about defending the Constitution. I want to see him do it," he said. "If he does, it will increase the intensity and level of support he gets from base Democrats. If he doesn't, we may worry he is just another one of these spineless Democrats who are more afraid of controversy in doing the right thing than they are in actually doing the right thing.

By the by, Keith Olbermann's special comment is on this very subject, how the FISA bill none of you have read but love to criticize Obama for selling you out over, is actually so poorly written that it doesn't prevent any of the Telecommunications companies from being CRIMINALLY prosecuted. It just prevents civil cases...i.e...all of Daily Kos joining up in a class action civil lawsuit because, most assuredly, the government is having the Telecoms monitor every single movement of yours.

Stop shooting yourself, Democrats, and the causes of the left by being petulent whiny bastards. The Right doesn't do this and The Right wins. The left does this and the left loses. It really isn't that hard.....don't shit where you eat.

These Netroots take themselves too seriously. The media is now feeding of their childish tantrums. I'm sick of them making Democrats lose.

Obama as nominee has to appeal to ALL Americans not just Democrats. If Obama loses, then this party is OVER. No party that loses 3 times in a row will be viewed seriously.

Shame on the 'NetRoots' bloggers who want to increase their fame and make 'statement's.

Shame on Mydd, Kos, Openleft, Salon.com, shame on you all. Who want fame and don't want to win.

Bring Hillary back she is a fighter

Matt Stoller at www.openleft.com nailed it today.

Today is the day that our weak nominee smeared a 4 star General who came out to surrogate for him.

Today is the day that tons and tons of people, stopped supporting actively Obama now. They share my fury at his curdling meek smear at Gen. Clark.

Not only Gen. Clark but Moveon.org today. Don't forget the 527's that he decided to dismantle two weeks. They are all gone now.

Our nominee is relying on a 'sophisticated nuanced' strategy that he hopes with a 30% turnout inrease in AA's will carry him to victory in November. That is it folks.

Turnout Turnout Turnout.

I want a leader with spine and balls and knows how to fight.
Today Obama decided that he would rather smear Gen. Clark than cover for him.
Hillary would never have apologized. Never. She is strong.

Obama has proved to me today that he is weak.

Don't you dare call me a TROLL. Scan my early diaries you can see, I was out Obama. One things gets me bad. It's Weakness. I hate it. Today Obama displayed it. What happened to the 'fight back' he promised. Sorry. That is 'nuanced'. www.openleft.com

Obama is Weak

Obama today. His actions is gettting beyond me. Where is the fire and strength inside him to attack???

Day in day out he is willing to tell the world of the 'honoruble national service' of Mccain. While McCain never pays him back the compluiments. What is he doing??
On the day he won the primary battle. June 3rd. McCain showed himself little when he refused to honour Obama. Yet Obama bows down and down to 'honour' him. SICK.

Gen Clark delivers a laser guided missile on McCain and he stand one day later to 'reject him'.

He has dismantled Democratic 527's earlier this month.

What is he doing?? Does he think he can play nice with the Republicans??

He is weak?

I'm furious.

If he doesn't show fire. I refuse to help him, anymore.

I'm sick of weak democrats.

TODAY:

Only reference to McCain is to honor him, says he "endured physical torment in service to our country."

Implictly rebukes Wesley Clark's comment about McCain, saying "no one should devalue" the service of America's veterans- "that goes for supporters on both sides."

Obama statement says "of course he rejects" Clark's comment disparaging McCain's military service.

Gen. Wesley Clark Nails McCain on Face The Nation

It's about time that someone reminded all of us that "being shot down" does not qualify a candidate on foreign policy... and on national television.

Senator John McCain has repeatedly used his "hero" status as to elevate himself to "expert" on foreign policy.  His supporters have reminded us all of his five years as a POW.  Once again, before the stoning starts let me say that no one is doubting or casting a shadow on Senator McCain's heroism.

But, it took Wesley Clark to put it in perspective on national television.

"He has been a voice on the Senate Armed Services Committee. And he has traveled all over the world. But he hasn't held executive responsibility. That large squadron in the Navy that he commanded -- that wasn't a wartime squadron," Clark said.

"I don't think getting in a fighter plane and getting shot down is a qualification to become president."

Thank you, Wesley Clark!  It's about time someone said it out loud.  In fact, Clark went a little farther than I thought he would in setting the record straight and leveling the playing field.

On the same program, Senator Joe Lieberman, who apparently is playing the role of McCain's wing man, made some statements that were misleading.

"Sen. Obama, unfortunately, like a lot of the Democratic leadership, continues to take a position that we ought to withdraw ... even though the new policy is working," said Lieberman. "If we had done what Sen. Obama asked us to do for the last couple of years, today Iran and Al Qaeda would be in control of Iraq. It would be a terrible defeat for us and our allies in the Middle East and throughout the world."

Lieberman continued to say that Obama's plan is to withdraw from Iraq with a total disregard for the situation on the ground, as if Obama's withdrawal plan is set in stone.  That's not what I have heard during the course of the campaign.  I understand that Barack Obama wants to bring our troops home, as we all do.  But, I also understand that he wants to do so responsibly.

Additionally, Lieberman played the fear card, reminding all of us that the Al Qaeda attacks in our country have come within the first year of the past two new administrations.  The inference is that we can expect another attack sometime in 2009 and that McCain is the man who would be best prepared to handle the situation.  There are those who take exception with McCain's preparedness.  Among those we would apparently find Wesley Clark.

McCain heckled at Latino conference

So much for any support for McCain in the Latino community.
Latino are not stupid they will not support McCain when he has shown two faced support of them when they needed it the most. They won't forget it.

They may have supported Hillary Clinton and rightly so. The Clinton's did excellent work for the Latino's and the times were good. But they weren't against Obama.
They voted for someone they knew. Now that they are beginning to understand Obama, they realize they have a new friend in Obama. Obama recieved a very warm and friendly welcome at the NALEO conference. They were repeat standing ovations and rapturious friendly shoutouts. his was a complete differemce from the tepid but polite welcome that McCain recieved. Then ofcourse they were the hecklers.

''John McCain struggled to get through his opening remarks to a group of Latino officials after three individuals interrupted his speech with shouted denunciations.

McCain reacted with good cheer the first time, smiling and pausing after a woman repeatedly screamed "we want a peace candidate."

"Well, that's a familiar voice to me," McCain said with a smile.

After he sought to begin his remarks again, the woman again started shouting.

The crowd sought to drown her out with cheers and claps, but the heckler continued to shout.

"It's a long trip out," McCain observed to laughs, as the woman was escorted out of the back of the room.
The candidate was less amused the second time when another woman unfurled a red banner and began screaming in Spanish''.

Mark Halperin Is a Hack

I'm looking at his webpage and flicking on it contiously and what do I see?
It's McCain, McCain, McCain. He doesn't even try to hide his bias.

He leads on Obama about 30% and the rest is McCain.
When he does lead on Obama. He references it for a shorter time than Obama.
The last entry of the day before he shuts out is usually a McCain piece.
Which means it hangs there for about 10 hours. For all to see.

I have noticed something equally disturbing. When it comes to culturally references.
Like the 'Scarlett Johannsen Email' thing he is more likely to refer it to Obama than he is to McCain. Which gives the impression to frequent readers that one is more serious than the other and more important.

Mark Halperin is a through and through hack and he isn't clever to hide it.

Schwarzenegger: Mccain & Crist blowing smoke on offshore drilling/

This is a proper smack down. He tells a climate summit gathering in LA:

"Politicians have been throwing around all kinds of ideas in response to the skyrocketing energy prices, from the rethinking of nuclear power to pushing biofuels and more renewables and ending the ban on offshore drilling, it goes on and on the list. But, anyone who tells you this will lower our gas prices anytime soon is blowing smoke."
