Video: Hot woman says, "I got a crush on Obama"

Man can Obama get any more popular.  There is a new Youtube video that appears to be catching fire and was mention on MSNBC's Tucker Carlson today.  A very gorgeous looking up and coming artist has made a youtube music video called "I got a crush on Obama." Pretty cool and suggests that he strongly appeals to the MTV crowd in addition to his other growing support.

"I Got a Crush . . . On Obama" By Obama Girl

Check it out, its kind of funny too.

Extremely silly

extremly silly move if Obama campaign is pushing for stuff like this.

People have already started to question whether he is just a celebrity style lightweight. If they think this sort of stuff can get him elected, they are really underestimating the intellegience of the average voters.

Gen-X can only get you so far. Big crowd can only get you so far. Big $$$$ can only get you so far. He's dangerously moving into empty suit territory.

Re: Extremely silly

Dude it is a fan made video.  Obama campaign has nothing to do with it.

Stop crying, a lot of young people are inspired and like the guy.  It is not a campaign endorsed video and you sound bad for suggesting that.

Fans put up all kind of stuff and personally I think it was in good fun.

Re: Extremely silly and poor taste

I don't know why you would promote this youtube.  I was embarrassed on behalf of Obama.  He is married.   The silly girl is doing him no favors.

This made me think - oh no, is he going to have interns throw themselves at him?  I'm not suggesting that he has done anything wrong.  But I wouldn't give this any promotion.  It demeans him and the silly young girl who obviously is not interested in politics or who governs us.  We really need help if this is how choices will be made.

Doesn't it seem

Odd that they went out and got a model to play the part and promote it on YouTube with a catchy tune.

I wonder who is the room mate, cousin, or relative that will maybe show up as an operative in the Obama campaign?

Re: Doesn't it seem

I'd rather see an ad poking fun of Obama Supporters than an ad suggesting he's a narcissistic closeted homosexual who is obsessed with his hair and feeling pretty. Now, THAT would be damaging.

Not that there's anything wrong with it.

This is what turns you on...

and you then expect to be taken seriously?  Save us from these Obama fans.

Re: Extremely silly

TR abuse by aiko.  Unrated to counter that hit and run.  There is nothing to give donuts for in this comment, just because you don't like the opinion.

Re: Extremely silly

except that he is lying when he suggests the campaign is responsible for the video.

Re: Extremely silly

He isn't lying.  Read more carefully.  Shouldn't TR without explanation.  And still inappropriate in this case.

extremly silly move if Obama campaign is pushing for stuff like this.

I agree with the statement and it is good to know that the campaign isn't creating this.  Lovingj is promoting the video.  IMHO this will not help Obama.  Since I am an Edwards supporter I shouldn't care.  However I just don't think this reflects well on Democrats or the presidential campaign.  Sex sell cars and other stuff.  Don't think I want it mixed up in presidential politics.  However it is too late.  It is out there.  I suppose I'd rather know about it than not.

Um, it suggests he appeals to bad singers with boob jobs.  But I wouldn't undersell that demographic either these days.

Good Job as always, lovingj

Nice video. Haters will soon attack this wonderful video. Keep up the good work.

When all the real votes are counted, Obama will be the 44th President of the United States.

Re: Good Job as always, lovingj

yup, a lot of haters are already attacking Obama when he had obsolutly nothing to do with this video...Im sure they are laughing at it..I dont think its a viddeo that would hurt him a bit..If anything, it raises his profile amongs young voters and potential young voters that arent registered.

With the rapper Gin and  the Obama girl, those 2 are wonderful weapon to turn out the MTV votes for Barack.

Probably your best diary here :)

I thought the video was pretty good, funny and sexy too

Had to recommend this.

It reflects the Obama "movement" perfectly that Jerome was discussing this morning.

As long as we see no Romney-esque mailers I think I can deal with this.

Finally, an Obama diary with substance :)

Just kidding, cute video.  Might not play well in the South :(

Agreed

I completely agree. I do not think it looks good for Obama.

Desperate and silly

C'mon, that gets you excited?  Puh-lease.   What a phony pice of shiite.   Total garbage.

Obama and his campaign need to ditch the gimmicks, the stunts, the dumb vidoes and the hype and start to focus on real issues.

by dpANDREWS 2007-06-14 07:12PM | 0 recs
Re: Desperate and silly

And you think they had something to do with this?  Just like when someone put the Hillary Clinton/Apple video up on youtube and it ended up being vote for Obama?  Please.  We are in the age of instant media, youtube, blogs, etc.  These campaigns are not like even 4 yrs ago.  Just as campaigns USE youtube to throw their ADS up on the site for free, people make ads about these politicians.  It is a two way street.  Politicians do not command their messages any longer, not with youtube.  Do you honestly THINK that George Allen would not have LOST had it not been for that video thrown up there on youtube, making him look like an ass?  Get used to it.  People will be making all kind of videos of these candidates.

You know it's not a campaign

related video still you just can't keep that hatred inside of you. Just let it out over and over again. Clamp down on younger people and tell them that they should not get involved in politics. Classy.

Re: You know it's not a campaign

What is the constant reference to hatred?  You sound emotional over nothing.  There is criticism of the video, not Obama.  It may be concerns over nothing, and some of us just feel a little queasy when sex is mixed in with politics.  We have lived with some very uncomfortable times.

Criticism is not hatred.  People know it is not part of the campaign, but if those promoting it in support of Obama need to know it will be received differently among various groups.  That is the reaction you are having here.  It has very little to do with Obama or his campaign.

Re: Desperate and silly

You know what's worse?

Selling Pecan Pie recipes to get a dollar. That's pathetic.

BTW, There's a difference between an Independent Citizen Ad and a Campaign Ad. "Yep Uh huh. Yessir dey is."

by ObamaEdwards2008 2007-06-15 04:36AM | 0 recs
Re: Cute and sweet

The pecan pie recipe campaign worked and it is wholesome.  A little cutesy for me but who am I to argue with success.

Perhaps this video will be good for Obama.  I hope it fades quickly.  But it brings up so many red flags that some younger people may not think of, but us old fogies remember.

Anyway don't get in such a knot over criticism of the ad, it was not criticism of Obama.

Kids today!

Jeez, what's with the politicization of videos of hot women! I remember when I was a boy and we kept our videos of hot women strictly seperate from our videos supporting political candidates! What is the world coming to, dagnamit?!

</end incoherent old man rant>

Okay, sorry for the bizarre reply, but I can't really decide which makes me simultaneously laugh and cry more...the fact that actual news networks and websites have been mentioning this video or the fact that folks who support Obama's opponents have somehow been trying to say this will hurt Obama's campaign. I haven't watched the video and don't really plan to, but it just cracks me up that people care!

Don't get me wrong it's great that the internet allows everyday people to do more to promote but suddenly a video of a girl singing and dancing on YouTube is newsworthy just because it's about Obama? If I made a video about how I have a crush on Alexis Bledel would that help me achieve my lifelong goal of being mentioned on "Tucker"?

And no, I don't support Obama or any of the other candidates. I'm just a disappointed former Feingold backer who occasionally makes sarcastic remarks from the sidelines.

Oh, and appealing to the MTV crowd is nothing to brag about these days. It hasn't had a good show since "Daria".

May I add

Looks like Obama is an American idol type of candidate.

This site needs to loosen up, Sandy baby

To paraphrase John Riggins.

The comments on this diary are bizarre. Come on, that video is the highlight of the campaign so far. Not even close.

When was the last time Democrats have had a candidate who could be the focus of a video like that? All the networks have been playing it all day, with positive theme.

by Gary Kilbride 2007-06-14 08:06PM | 0 recs
Re: This site needs to loosen up, Sandy baby

You have a point, it slowed down Hillary's barrage of press releases, that people forgot about.  Whether you like it or not, people when viewing it KNOW that it is not a Obama campaign ad, folks are laughing at it, and they are talking about it.  So, what?  This is not 1977, it is 2007 with all the instant media bells and whistles to boot.  Anybody can make a video ad.

The pointyheads among the netroots

don't get it. They prefer a John Kerry and a Walter Mondale and a Mike Dukakis everyday. No wonder the political blogosphere is made up of people in their 50s. They just don't get it.
