Disgusted By Schumer

I HATE CHUCK SCHUMER and everything he stands for. It is a sad day in America when we are back resort to the politics of yesterday where party bosses decide who represents leaders and not the people of Ohio. Paul Hackett represented the best that the Democratic Party had to offer--someone insightful and willing to speak his mind. For too long in Democratic politics, we have been stuck with the choices between the Republican rhethotic and politics of bores. I do not know if Mr. Hackett would have won the primary aganist Mr. Brown, but it would be a fight that could only make the party stronger. Shame on Mr. Schumer and his disgusting tactics. If Brown loses, it won't be Mr. Brown's fault. It will be the fault of the Democratic Senatorial Committee Chairperson: Mr. Charles Schumer. Someone once said that Mr. Schumer never saw a camera he didn't like well it has become apparent that Mr. Schumer never say a primary he liked. Best wishes to Mr. Hackett and for fighting the good fight though I am disappointed in your withdraw rather that the willingness to fight.

Re: Disgusted By Schumer

Well the Dems got behind in the polls, where as in Dec, we were ahead, and Schumer wanted to shake things up by letting Sherrod Brown go it by himself so he could focus his attention on the general election not have to worry about another election.  Also, Sherrod Brown was winning in a land slide anyway, so why have a primary anyway.  Lastly, Sherrod Brown was always the strongest candidate, before this election cycle started Sherrod Brown was always matched up against Mike DeWine.  None of the pollsters thought it was worth it to do other candidates.

Schumer Owns Brown

It doesn't matter if Brown wins or not. Chuck Schumer now owns Sherrod Brown and his vote. It doesn't matter how Sherrod Brown wants to vote or what the people of Ohio want. Brown is now officially a Chuck Schumer tool.

If Casey wins in Pennsylvania, he will be another Schumer tool. If Duckworth wins in Illinois, she will be an Emanuel tool. The Republican wing of the Democratic Party is emerging triumphant. Even if the Democrats win back the Senate, it really won't matter. I no longer believe the Democratic leadership has the stomach for impeachmnent or even an investigation

Re: Schumer Owns Brown

The Dems never wanted to impeach.  Jim Wright could of impeached Reagan and he had super majorities in both houses of Congress and he didn't.  He wasn't a Chuck Schumer tool. The only reason why they impeached Nixon was because he stepped on Republican toes and the Republicans wanted him out.  The Dems have been lacking the will to investigate since the days of Jim Wright and he wasn't a Schumer clone.

Voting Record Not Schumer's Problem

Chuck Schumer has one of the more progressive voting records in the Senate.  He consistently gets high marks from ADA, LCV, ACLU and other progressive organizations.  He was one of the best questionnaires of both Alito and Roberts on the Judiciary Committee and fought against both.  I'd be happy to have Brown and Casey vote just like him in most cases.

His problem is he has to be in control of everything hence the Hackett situation.  You may not like his style (I don't) but he is a good vote for most progressive causes.  Don't confuse bossism with bad views on public policy.  They are not the same.

WINNING IN A LANDSLIDE?  What planet is mleflo2?  Or is that a constellation?

It boils down to who we think can pull the most votes in November against DeWine," said Chris Redfern, chairman of
the Ohio Democratic Party. "And in Ohio, Brown's name is golden. It's just that simple."

**January 6-12 Zogby Poll
Hackett 41.9   Brown  41.3
DeWine  35.0   DeWine 37.0

Re: Disgusted By Schumer

No I said that Jim Wright had super majorities of both houses of Congress and didn't have the will to impeach Ronald Reagan and he wasn't controlled by Schumer. I didn't say we were going to have super majorities in both houses in Congress. I think we will add seats but not get back the Congress: 52R-1I-47D, 224R-211D in the House and 28D-22R in the Governor's chair.  No one ownes anyone and Schumer doesn't own Brown.  Read my comment carefully.

Don't blame Schumer

Don't blame Schumer for Hackett's shortcomings.   Hackett had neither the votes nor the money to compete with Brown.  Still Hackett could have continued on, I don't think anyone put a gun to his head and made him pull out.   They simply informed of the REALITIES.

I view it as Shumer's JOB to do anything and everything that he is capable of doing to make sure the democrats win as many Senate seats as  possible come November.   Thats the ballgame right there.   He is NOT responsible for making you or Paul Hackett happy.

As a Democrat, why would you want to see Brown spend millions on a primary that he would have won anyway, and have less cash to make a solid run at DeWine come November?   Shouldn't the party come first?

Who do we blame for your short comings?

Wow!  You are scary and have a distorted sense of ethics and common sense. "I view it as Shumer's JOB to do anything and everything that he is capable of doing".

For the clueless.  When Rep Waxman and and Chuck Schumer contact their fundraisers to give to Sherrod and NOT Paul Hackett.  OR when Schumer and Waxman contact Paul Hacketts contributors and donor bases to instruct them to stop giving money to him and turn around and give to Brownie, I think that amounts to TAKING Paul Hacketts money.  And if Brownie wasn't on an ego trip when he saw the Poll numbers of Paul Hackett winning that he decided to change his promise not to run and enter the race 2 months later, those liars wouldn't have even had the opportunity to play such corrupt and unethical tactics.

Re: Disgusted By Schumer

Sherrod Brown would make an amazing Senator, not to mention a true progressive Democrat, there are so few of those I could probably count them on one hand. I have no doubt Paul Hackett would have served ably and well to the best of his abilities but if I recall his positions against Schmidt left a bit to be desired, and his lack of experience, funds, and a capable campaign staff (as many have said, most of the major players behind his special election campaign are now working for Brown) would not be eclispsed by his star power. If he suspects foul play, fine, thats POLITICS, and we don't have to like it, but it will always be that way. I don't think it is very helpful to equate pressure from his party to run for a different statewide office to the war in Iraq. That is just silly.

Re: Disgusted By Schumer

While I blam Schumer, the blame is equal to Brownie's heck of a job.

I don't find lying, dirty and traiterous descriptions of someone I want representing me.

Chuck Schumer is looking more and more like a new-school Carmine DeSapio.
