Edwards and Hillary met for 20 minutes after last debate

Something that went little reported was a blog post in the Washington Post on January 22, one day after the latest Dem. debate, narrating how John Edwards and Hillary Clinton quietly met for 20 minutes in Edwards' room.

They did not disclose what the little meeting was about:

Could they have been planning a strategy aimed at joining forces before Super Tuesday?
Probably. But I would not like to speculate. What are your thoughts?

Re: Edwards and Hillary met for 20 minutes after l

I could be wrong, but I suspect that if Edwards and Hillary were in kahoots, he wouldn't have announced his dropping out today, stepping on her dual-pronged daily message of her "win" in Florida and her "Snub" at the SOTU address.  I suspect that he's in kahoots with another candidate, and timed his announcement, coordinated with the other candidate's new attack on Hillary that caught the media's attention, pretty much drowning out her intended message of the day.

But, as I said, I could be wrong.

I think that his dropping out will help Hillary on Feb. 5. Edwards was splitting the white vote and while some will go to Obama I think more will move over to Hillary. I expect to see her crack 50% in a whole lot of states on Feb. 5.

Davey, that doesn't seem logical to me.  If Edwards really wanted to hurt Hillary, he would have stayed in the race.  I doubt he's in cahoots with anyone.

Re: Edwards and Hillary

While it is highly unlikey, I think a Clinton/Edwards ticket would be tought to beat.

won't happen

She would choose either Wes Clark or a governor.

Re: Edwards and Hillary

I like Clinton/Webb (my Virginia senator). VA is considered a southern state. Webb did not back the war and he has military experience with a son recently deployed to Iraq.

This could cover the bases for McCain and whomever he selects as VP (please let it be Lieberman!).

I don't dislike Edwards, just like Webb more.

Re: Edwards and Hillary

I think I just wet myself.  A McCain/Lieberman ticket would be absolutely delightful.

Re: Edwards and Hillary

Lieberman has already said he would not be on a ticket with McCain- that he does not want to be a VP candidate again and he wants to concentrate on the Senate.  He said this about 2 days ago.

Actually, it was pretty widely reported at the time.  And both campaigns confirming it was an unusual step to me.

I'm sure we will learn one day what was said, just not anytime soon.
