Hillary Clinton to urge release of delegates - Updated

To all who still hold out "hope" for Hillary Clinton to be nominated as Prez or VP or are just so pissed off that you will do anything to harm Barack Obama and Joe Biden and in doing so, also hurt this country.... PLEASE stop!

Hillary Clinton wants all of us to back Barack Obama and Joe Biden. The longer this puma nonsense goes on, the more it will damage Hillary Clinton personally, politically and professionally.

Hillary Clinton to urge release of delegates

WASHINGTON - Hillary Clinton is expected to release her delegates and urge them to vote for Barack Obama...
...

"She is going to strongly encourage everyone to support Obama," said a party official made aware of Clinton's plans.
...

Recent polls shows that the majority of Clinton backers already have moved into the Obama camp, but there are still some rogue holdouts the Clintons hope to convert - or at least silence.

Clinton's former chief strategist Geoff Garin, a pollster by trade, said last week that about 18% of Clinton's supporters say they won't vote for Obama and will back John McCain.

Clinton is set to meet with her pledged delegates and urge them to support Obama, even though she will have her name symbolically in the roll call vote on Thursday.

"She ran a great campaign and she has earned the roll call vote," said a top Obama aide.

Updated

It sounds like she does not want her delegates to vote for her at all. I believe she would like to make this a quick and painless event, so that we Democrats can move forward with getting Obama/Biden elected and start fixing this country.

In response to mccain's ad using Hillary Clinton to attack Obama and Biden:

CLINTON PRESS OFFICE RESPONSE TO MCCAIN AD

The following is a statement released today by Hillary Clinton's Spokeswoman Kathleen Strand in response to the McCain campaign's new ad "Passed Over."

"Hillary Clinton's support of Barack Obama is clear. She has said repeatedly that Barack Obama and she share a commitment to changing the direction of the country, getting us out of Iraq, and expanding access to health care. John McCain doesn't. It's interesting how those remarks didn't make it into his ad."

I found that little gem at the website for one of the biggest puma people. She also had this to say: (found by politicsmatters)

Mac's latest ad using footage of Hillary stepped over a serious line. Shes a big girl and can fend for herself. She doesn't need McCain to take up her part re: BHOs veep selection. Hell, for all he knows, BHO offered it to Hillary and she turned him down.
...
don't use Hillary to attack another Democrat. She deserves better than this, she really does.
...
And when a blogger disagreed with her, she pointed out that the Republicans are not the Clintons' allies or friends.

Hillary was right to speak out against the way the repugs used her in an ad. After the witch hunts the pugs led against her and Bill, I don't blame her for objecting to this BS.

The puma, noted above, has not come around, but this is a bit of a good sign.

Re: Hillary Clinton to urge release of delegates -

then stop abusing people for simply being her delegates or former supporters.

Read and see what you want

YOU have been "abusing" people on this blog for some time. Yesterday you were handing out TR like they were candy.

Also, if you plan on pushing Obama/Biden down and mccain up... well then... leave, you are not wanted or needed IF that is what you plan to do.

Also... on parahammer's diary... I said SOME not all. Get it?

Re: Hillary Clinton to urge release of delegates -

Wasn't Kevin a Clinton delegate originally? How can he be abusing Clinton supporters?

Thank you

I am just sick of the leftovers trying to tear down the Democratic party and the Democratic ticket because they are pissed and did not get their way.

Re: Thank you

You are welcome. I remember from the primary days that you were a Clinton supporter. But since Obama won you have been one of the most reasonable people on this blog.

I suppose I should now wait for ZSG to TR me...

by wasder 2008-08-24 03:55PM | 0 recs
You know what?
ZSG has posted a reasonable diary that looks to the future with Obama and Biden, without mentioning their names.

Re: You know what?

Odd mood swing. He spent today troll-rating my entire comment history like a two-year old on a tantrum and making the kind of petulant comments we typically see from him. Now he's suddenly presenting himself as a conciliatory diplomat urging dialogue and unity. Go figure.

I swear, this is the loopiest place sometimes.

Good one by Hillary. I've long felt that this puma nonsense was a terrible betrayal of her and her ideals.

by BobzCat 2008-08-24 04:25PM | 0 recs
I totally agree

puma is a betrayal of Hillary Clinton and her ideals.

I gave ZSG kudos for the diary. I think it is a good idea to give a thumbs up when it is deserved, this can help in opening minds and healing hearts.

by kevin22262 2008-08-24 04:39PM | 0 recs
Mine too.

ZSG apparently just went through my comments list and TR-ed the last sixty posts I had written.  (No review hidden comments for me, today!)  And Catfish seems to have joined that same bandwagon.

Somebody on MyDD needs to do some housecleaning.

Do this

Go to the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of the page and write the admins. Todd seems to check most often.

Keep it civil, short and with linky details.

by kevin22262 2008-08-24 05:59PM | 0 recs
Re: Do this

Not sure it does any good. As I've said before, at MyDD there are no banned users, only banned usernames. Previously banned users return with impunity, and others flaunt their sockpuppets without consequence. Jerome himself has admitted that the "rating system is broken" and washed his hands of issues related to it.

It's a messy place. Zero's and catfish are just two object models of how easy it is to abuse this site, ignore its rules, and undermine its efforts.

by BobzCat 2008-08-24 06:15PM | 0 recs
But

they can take away rating ability.

I complained about a negative Democrat/Obama diary that I saw in the rec list today (to many comments along with a few recs put it there). I sent my complaint to Todd and he did delete it.

Thank you

Hillary Clinton!

You are a fighter! Thank you for continuing your fight to get this country back on track and helping to restore OUR Constitution!

You may not be the nominee, but you are smart enough to know that we need to stop this crazy train we have been on for far to long.

Thanks to Parahammer for bringing this story to our attention.

Rogues? Bah, not a term I like....

"but there are still some rogue holdouts the Clintons hope to convert - or at least silence."

Rogues make them sound too glamorous for my taste.

Sadly, IMO, this is really a slap at Senator Clinton.

Senator Clinton is showing the ulimate in class, showing SHE is about the party and America first and always.

Too bad, cause I think although she CAN win over a few, for some, this is no longer about her, but about them and them alone.

They made Senator Clintons run THEIRS and when she lost, THEY LOST.

Now, she has moved on, but they can't let go....

Re: Rogues? Bah, not a term I like....

All the more reason for her to publicly condemn them. I'm definitely watching what they're going to say during this convention. There's no reason NOT to beat them down hardcore, no reason not to say that she asked not to be the VP (since her deadline for paying back debts is looming).

Re: Rogues? Bah, not a term I like....

Well, I disagree a bit.

That makes it sound like she is a bit responsable for them, and she is not.

Why should she have to comment on a bunch of jerks, who are being funded by the Republics?

That's what I would like to see.

Instead of interviewing these turkeys, find out who is paying for the buses and the hotel rooms.

My take is, that will trace back to Republic operatives, if not straight back to the RNC.

Re: Rogues? Bah, not a term I like....

If someone is doing bad deeds in your name once, you can ignore it. If they are continually doing bad things in your name, you have to do everything you can to stop it.

Re: Rogues? Bah, not a term I like....

I don't think these people are real Hillary supporters.  I believe that a lot of them are McBushites, concern trolls sent to progressive blogs to promote disunity within the democratic party.

Sounds like

she does not want them voting for her.

really glad to see this

I'm really glad to see that - and also glad to get the sense that our old friend Alegre criticized the McCain ad using Hillary Clinton:

Mac's latest ad using footage of Hillary stepped over a serious line.  Shes a big girl and can fend for herself.  She doesn't need McCain to take up her part re: BHOs veep selection.  Hell, for all he knows, BHO offered it to Hillary and she turned him down.

Props to Alegre for recognizing that Republicans don't care about our Democratic leaders, policies and voters.

Wow!

I believe the healing IS beginning!

IF alegre comes back here and does not play the puma game, then I say we greet her with open arms!

My guess is that she'll

eventually cast her vote for Obama/Biden.  She'll be the next Taylor Marsh.

by Blazers Edge 2008-08-24 04:00PM | 0 recs
Hm

she might like being told she is the next TM. :)

by kevin22262 2008-08-24 04:05PM | 0 recs
I feel like I'm getting

it pretty straight from TM; she's not close to the level of Armstrong or Merritt in terms of real analysis of issues and politics, but she has own unique style and set of fans.

by Blazers Edge 2008-08-24 04:11PM | 0 recs
TM took a ton of crap

when she decided to support the Dems post-primary. She has soldiered on, and I have a lot of respect for her.

by Neef 2008-08-24 04:28PM | 0 recs
Taylor Marsh has really impressed

me after the primaries ended.  She sucked it up and started taking on the Republicans, even though it must have been hard for her.

The PUMA's

are pathetic. If Hillary had actually won the nomination, they would be shitting their pants in anger if anyone proclaimed to withhold their support from her due to the primary bitterness.

It's not Unity they want. It's all Hillary all the time. They aren't Democrats, they are hero-worshippers. It's dangerous to give them influence over anything. They are a disgrace to Senator Clinton's good name and I'm thrilled that even she has gotten somewhat annoyed with their bullshit tactics.

Re: The PUMA's are pathetic

It's a good thing there are only about 33 of them.

Clinton to urge release of delegates -

Howard Dean urged his delegates to vote for Kerry in 2004. No supporters were more devoted than they, and they did as he requested. Unanimously, I believe.

Re: Hillary Clinton to urge release of delegates -

I'll believe it when I see it, but halleluja if it's true.

Only Kucinich's supporters failed to support Kerry in '04.  Not cool of them.
