Was electing Obama worth getting a GOP Congress?

By electing Barack Obama in 2008, we almost assured ourselves that we would be electing a Republican Congress in 2010 and likely for the next decade. His incompetence and inability to get anything done is fueling the biggest Republican landslide we have ever seen. My question is, was it all worth it?http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/
Democrats appear to have traded control of Congress for the next decade for a quick pyrrhic victory at the Presidential level that will likely have disastrous consequences for Democrats over the next decade and likely longer. Democrats never get anything done. They want things like universal healthcare and cap and trade that are not and will never be possible in this country. Democratic Congresses are best at keeping Republican Presidents in check. There is a reason why Democrats have not passed any significant legislation since 1965.
Republicans knew exactly what they were doing in 2008. They allowed the economy and markets to fall apart and do nothing about it to trap Obama into a win and then lay all the blame for the wreck on him and Democrats and they knew the American people were stupid enough to fall for it. They knew Obama would be too incompetent to get much of anything done and they cheered his victory. Now are laughing their way all the way to control of Congress in 2010.We messed up big.
