They killed healthcare reform

I want everyone here to remember who killed healthcare reform.  There were two people who did it:  Ben Nelson and Joe Lieberman.  For purely political reasons, they both decided that the Democratic party cannot have a victory on healthcare reform.

Joe Lieberman killed it because he needs Republicans votes to be elected in 2012 and Ben Nelson killed it because he does not like being in the majority of Congress and would be much comfortable working with Republicans in the minority.

This means that in 2012, Democrats need to do EVERYTHING possible to kill the reelections of both of these Senators.  They killed healthcare reform and we can now kill their careers.

Re: They killed healthcare reform

I would like to second that and add Ben Nelson voted for the Bush tax cuts (pivotal 50th vote) and Liberman campaigned for Palin/McCain.

Wait a sec.

I thought that it was Obama's fault.  That's what you said in your last diary.

Plenty of fault to go around

The senate Democrats are spineless wimps and the WH has more or less indicated that will declare any bill that has but the name healthcare on it as a great victory. So no leadership from there either...zero.

Six months ago I said that the post-partisan unity shtick is a delusion and it will cost us meaningful healthcare reform. Right now after this president basically surrendered the healthcare bill to conservative Dems and centrist Republicans (well just Olympia Snowe) we have nothing, zilch, to show in return. Republicans are not holding our hands and singing kumbaya and right now the two factions of the Democratic party are far from holding hands. So there goes the broad new coalition, bye bye!!

BTW President Obama still asks you to pay $25 to OFA and you may get your free pony, because you sure as hell are not going to get meaningful and affordable healthcare. But your tax dollars will help save the next bank that has been laundering dough for the drug cartels.

If you have to pay $25, the pony isn't free.
