Free Cheeseburger on MyDD?

Did I really see a coupon for a free McDonalds burger here?  I am a vegetarian, so no go, but I clicked away as I was seeing it and refreshed to no avail, lol.  Anyway, that's a great ad tool-- the coupon as a internet ad.

I guess you can have a Veggie Burger..

I'm not sure that I would normally eat at McDonald's even with the free cheeseburger offer.

Re: I guess you can have a Veggie Burger..

A free McChicken and Sweet Tea would get me to stop by. I am pretty sure they put crack in the sweet tea, it is the only explanation for why I have to keep getting it.

Re: I guess you can have a Veggie Burger..

Nah, just corn syrup.... lots and lots of corn syrup... The tea is too sickenly sweet!  Although, I've been told that it's not sweet enough for Southern tastes.  Yuck!!!

Despite that, it still has less calories than pop!  That's really amazing!

Re: Free Cheeseburger on MyDD?

I'll eat meat if it's free.  And will go to waste otherwise.  If these were "last chance before we toss these out the back" cheeseburgers then I'd be on them like white on rice.

Re: Free Cheeseburger on MyDD?

I am a country boy. I always find vegetarians interesting because it is a foreign language to me.  Beyond having to kill chicken and pigs when I was a boy on the farm, I also worked in a meat packing plant.

Re: Free Cheeseburger on MyDD?

Vegetarianism mystifies me (except from a strictly ethical standpoint) I just can't imagine not having a good dose of protein four or five times a day.

Re: Free Cheeseburger on MyDD?

I hear soy has protein!

Re: Free Cheeseburger on MyDD?

It also gives you boobs!  Win/win!

by lojasmo 2009-10-13 09:13AM | 0 recs
so you can look like the guy

eating the five cheeseburgers in the video sricki posted.  Vegetarian, non-vegetarian, you'll still get boobs.

Re: so you can look like the guy

I'm talking about the phytoestrogens in soy.  Cheezeburgers will make you fat, but soy GIVES YOU BOOBS.

Also, as Bruh3 intimated...nasty.

it was a bad joke.

Re: Free Cheeseburger on MyDD?

ugh to soy! If I ever were to go vegetarian, I would have to do a lot of research on something more tasty than soy

Beans, rice, corn, quinoa, eggs.

Re: Free Cheeseburger on MyDD?

I did plenty of time hunting and fishing (worked on a boat in AK too one summer) when younger. A vegetarian diet is more healthy and better for the body. Any benefit beyond that is fine too.

It just seemed a natural choice to me, because I had a lot of allergies as a teenager, but while at college one year, I wound up in an Apt with a guy from Thailand, who cooked vegetarian all the time, so that's what I ate. All the symptoms went away. When I met my wife in the Peace Corps, she'd been a vegetarian all her life.

I do find the environmental arguments compelling, and the ethical/spiritual ones are interesting, yet I don't find the proselytizing about diets very attractive.

Re: Free Cheeseburger on MyDD?

It depends on the actual content of the vegetarian diet.  Some people are better served nutritionally eating meat.  Especially versus some ovo/lacto diets.

Re: Free Cheeseburger on MyDD?

It's definately healthier... I just enjoy meat too much... and not just the OK meats... even the bad ones... the protested stuff (Like Foie Gras) ... dear god, some of that is oh so tasty.   There is a Steakhouse in Chicago you can get a 55 Day Dry aged ribeye with Fois Gras on top... haven't gotten the courage to try it yet... seems a little too much even for me.

Re: Free Cheeseburger on MyDD?

That sounds unneccesarily cruel and decadent.

I want it.

Re: Free Cheeseburger on MyDD?

Oh, forgot to say, I didn't do much in the way of hunting for deer or going fishing.  I can fire a gun, but I find it incredibly boring.

Re: Heh:

this disgusts me...and yet I still want a cheeseburger.

How have you been sricki?

by JDF 2009-10-14 06:38AM | 0 recs
Pretty good, JDF.

Actually sick at the moment, though, and I think I may have a ban comin' my way here -- am kinda surprised it hasn't come down yet.

How have you been?

Re: Pretty good, JDF.

I have never been banned, but think one is possible for me, as I may be invoking the wrath of Jerome. How do you know if you have been punished around here?

by Hollede 2009-10-14 11:09AM | 0 recs
If you get smacked with the banhammer,

I think you will know pretty quick -- can't rec/rate/reply/diary. Sometimes you just lose rec/rate without getting banned, though -- which is what happened to a lot of Obama supporters during the primaries, as you probably remember.

I did get a warning once for making a really crabby snarky comment. And I will say -- it was probably deserved. Got like 15 HR's. Still, at least it wasn't racist garbage like a lot of what is allowed to slide here. Don't remember what happened very well, but I'm thinking I was just navigating through the site and suddenly a warning popped up on the page, and I had to click it to accept the conditions to be allowed to post again.  In fact, that may have been what happened with Bob Johnson that caused him to ultimately leave -- I think he refused to "accept" the warning, or whatever.

Re: Pretty good, JDF.

I am doing alright myself. I hope you feel better soon.

I don't think you have to worry about a ban. If I haven't gotten banned yet you aren't going to get it for telling the truth with pictures ;-)

Heh, no,

but I also HR'd Jerome. ; )

Re: Heh, no,

Don't think I was ever that brazen ;-) Maybe during the primary wars though.

Re: Heh, no,

LOL. I troll rated him for threatening a user, calling him a liar and then banning him. At this point, I would find a banning a badge of honor.
