NEW JOHN Kerry Video" JUDGE BARACK on the color of his skin "

John Kerry says bluntly that Barack Obama has the potential to "bridge the divide in religious extremism"because he is black.

Speaking of the race speech from Tuesday, Obama supporter John Kerry gave an interview with a local N.H. paper, reports NBC/NJ's Mike Memoli. In it, Kerry said the color of Obama's skin makes him uniquely qualified for president and even reach out to the moderate Islam world.

Re: NEW Kerry Video"

So, it's ok for Kerry to say Barack deserves to be where he is because he is black?

Re: NEW Kerry Video"

e clearly said Obama has credibility to deal and empower moderate islam simply because he is black.

That is the most inane, stupid and unhelpful thiing he could have said.

Obama is post-racial, reamember? He wants to get beyond race. Anyone who points out his race is a racist. What does that make Kerry?

Re: Spin, spin, spin

What is his point exactly ?

I am curious to know.

by lori 2008-03-20 09:34AM | 0 recs
Re: Spin, spin, spin

Thats not what he said , thats what you said.

Because he said he could help promote moderate islamic force because he is black.

Is he implying Obama is a Muslim ?

Because all he said was obama could help with islam because he is black.

Not because of any specific policy.

Now I know why kerry was never supposed to be President.

I don't get it.

Re: Spin, spin, spin

actually the one thing we've all learned about Obama in the last week is that he probably isn't Muslim.......

re

Because Kerry is such a political mastermind. Losing to the WORST President in the history of this country oh yea we should really listen to this joker about who to back

Some perspective.....

I can see the thought pattern.  It's a lot harder to bridge racial divides when you're white.  Honestly.  The people you're trying to reach out to tend to feel that you don't get it, b/c you've never dealt with it.  I'm not sure I completely agree or am saying that that is a reason people should vote for him, b/c it's not.

Islam is not a "race" however

Therefore bridging a racial divide has little to do with it.

What about all the black Muslims?  How does Obama "bridge" to them?  And white Muslims all over Eastern Europe?

All those Muslims in Indonesia?  Arab Muslims?

In light of the vast diversity of Muslim people, someone of any race can serve just as effectively as a bridge.  It's not the race of the person, but the content of their character and policy positions that is the key.

Re: Islam is not a "race" however
On the front of Islam, I look at it as the West's impression of the East.  They don't resent the people, they resent our government which is run by mostly white elitists and they know that even though our country has made progress on race and religion, we've yet to concur it.  Having a black man as CiC, might somehow give them a different perception of the U.S.  That maybe we are willing to understand the differences between our cultures(the thought being if we can do it nationally, then maybe we are capable of doing it globally).  I'm not saying that a white person can't do this, but it is more difficult(even for a white woman).  That's just my interpretation
of this comment by Kerry.

Re: Islam is not a "race" however

How did Condoleeza Rice fare with the whole 'bridging the divide' thing? Colin POwell?

I thought so.

Re: Islam is not a "race" however

Yes, that is true, but in the same respect they are mouthpieces for Dick Cheney and George Bush.

It is not racist because...

It is true !!

It has always been true !!!!

I'm speechless!

Wish Kerry had been, also.

How on earth does this help Obama?

Yeah..

people need to stop trying to jump on the primary bandwagon by giving interviews - on both sides

Re: Yeah..

I have to say that Kerry is out to destroy the democrats also.  He must be doing a Clinton.  If he can't be president destroy any chance for somebody else to be.

Re: Yeah..

That's it, when in doubt, it's all Clinton's fault.......

by pollbuster 2008-03-20 10:18AM | 0 recs
How exactly

did Kerry describe and suggest that a female president would be just as equally beneficial for the US foreign affairs?

Kerry's point is almost the exact same thing that Ferraro said and you denying it only makes it that much more obvious.  Please, if you disagree, tell us exactly how what Kerry said is different from what Ferraro said in terms of the benefit of being black?

Re: Doh!

Radical islamists do not look atthe world through a color frame but a religious one...Kerry is an idiot.

I expect Obama to call this out...NOT.

by americanincanada 2008-03-20 09:51AM | 0 recs
Aren't there also White Muslims?

So what exactly makes Obama so special to deal with Islam?  Kerry says that it's because he is a "black man" WTF!! Are we living in a Twilight Zone episode?

And the funniest thing about the video is how Kerry had this "you're damn right I said it." look on his face.

I used to support John Kerry but the hypocrisy here is too much for me to defend.  This guy was also being hypocritical about the superdelegates bending to the "will of the people" but he isn't saying he will vote for Hillary considering she won Massachussetts.

The Obama rules at work again...

by diplomatic 2008-03-20 09:52AM | 0 recs
Wow-did Kerry say supers should

vote the will of the people? Hypocrite for sure. I live in MA and have no problem with Kerry and Kennedy backing Obama. As I understand it, that's their right as supers. But, you can't have it both ways.

Re: NEW JOHN Kerry Video"

I don't think it's so grave.. Really my feeling is, it hardly seems like the election season would be complete without John Kerry sticking his foot in his mouth.

by daria g 2008-03-20 09:53AM | 0 recs
nobody is saying it's grave. it's just hypocrisy

This is not the first time John Kerry has highlighted the double standard with the Obama campaing.  Remember all that talk about "superdelegates should support the will of the people in their state"?  Still waiting for Kennedy and Kerry to move to Hillary's side...

Re: NEW JOHN Kerry Video

I said it before the Obama campaign plays both sides of the race-card as and when necessary. This is just another proof. Remember no mention that he is biracial and yet somehow growing up in Hawaii with his white grandparents made him cognizant of the struggles of the descendants of black Americans. Anyway the hypocrisy is unending here. If this were some Clinton supporter we would have the Obamabots screaming "racist racist" irrationally over and over.

anyone who defends this statement

and comdems Geraldine Ferraro is now clearly not sane.

This proves Geraldine's point!!!

This is what she was saying that white liberals see him being black as a positive for many reasons.

Kerry proves the point.

I find it offensive that someone in elective office is making an argument based on race, something that a person can't change for good or bad to be elected to POTUS.

As an A.A., I am offended. Mostly because, if someone in a sober tone can make that arugment in FAVOR OF  being black. Why can't someone make just as sober an argument against me or anyone else AGAINST THEM BASED ON RACE for really good reasons?

at least he didn't say

"because he is Muslim"...

WOW! I'm shocked that he could say that with a straight face.

You cannot condemn Ferraro and defend this. You cannot.
