I feel like I am back in Junior High School

When I was a 7th grader, it seemed like all of the 7th graders were picked on by the 8th graders. As a skinny, chess playing math whiz, I was certainly no exception. I remember on the first day of 8th grade, some of my friends saying "This is great! Now WE get to pick on the 7th graders." I didn't understand that attitude then, nor did I realize that some folks never outgrow the Junior High School mindset.

I don't like it when Obama supporters twist Clinton's every act and utterance into proof of her unfitness for office, and I feel that Clinton supporters should have the intellectual honesty not to do the reverse.

Please, for your next diary or comment, write something positive about your candidate, or something analyzing the campaign ahead or behind, or if you must write a negative diary or comment, write it about something that affects actual peoples' lives. Clinton and Obama supporters can work together to make MyDD an interesting site again.

One more thing, and it is important. It is too easy to ignore protests coming from the other camp. We need to put our own houses in order. Clinton commenters of goodwill need to start calling out the out of control anti-Obama diaries. Obama commenters of goodwill need to start calling out the out of control anti-Clinton diaries.

Re: I feel like I am back in Junior High School

Forget the out of control diaries.  What about the out of control statements of Hillary Clinton!

Re: I feel like I am back in Junior High School

Hillary's out of control statements?  What about Obama's?

You Obamatons crax me up.  Since I know that you won't cease your antiHill crap, don't expect me to either.

This is politics, and it's dog eat dog.

p.s.  You guys are just pissed because Hillary called out your boy for essentially going along with explicit racism.

Re: I feel like I am back in Junior High School

Some of us try, but we can only do so much when everyday another "Democrat" is harping about Wright.  Although some of Clinton's supporters here are truly stand up people, I can't help but feel that a lot have become the very things that they decried at the DailyKos, and many more are unwilling to take a stand.

Re: I feel like I am back in Junior High School

We all get angry sometimes, when we feel our candidate is being slimed. I try to remember to respond to the specific item and writer, and not get too personal or paint with too broad a brush.

For example, in response to an Obama supporter's post citing Drudge, I once fired off something like: "Obama supporters take their info from Drudge now?" That was unfair of me, even though I think I was justified in complaining about cut-n-pasting Drudge on a MyDD thread.

Re: I feel like I am back in Junior High School

Harping about Wright?

It's pathetic that this was his pastor. Do you think if you ignore it others will?> I get that you let it slide, but mainstream American will be appalled, and GOP will run it in ads.

what are you missing here? We are in a religious country. His pastor said that the us caused 9/11. It's of note and politically bad for Obama. You get upset when people care about it? huh?

Re: I feel like I am back in Junior High School

This reminds me of an insight I had many, many years ago, when I was just out of high school...back in 1973, I went down to Washington to visit my uncle, who worked for PBS, and I got to attend one of the Watergate hearings and hang out in the press area. The major networks were rotating their daily coverage at that time, and the day I was there it was ABC's turn--Sam Donaldson was their big-shot correspondent covering the hearings. As I watched Donaldson and his crew, it struck me that he was exactly like a high-school "kool kid" with his clique...and I realized that adults are really pretty much the same as high school kids in terms of how they relate to one another. It was kind of exhilarating and depressing at the same time...

As for your plea to refrain from infantile attacks and discourage other from the same, I think that is an excellent idea. I also think it is about as likely to succeed as trying to get my dog to stop sniffing garbage cans...

You are probably right. My 8th grade friends certainly didn't listen to me...

Re: I feel like I am back in Junior High School

I am a new poster here, and the only reason I started was to try and bring some peace to this process.  I am an unapologetic member of the Obama cult, but I admire and respect the Clintons.  Lets focus on kicking the crap out of the Republicans and stop destroying each other.

Yay! and welcome. We desperately need peace bringers.

Re: I feel like I am back in Junior High School

the idea of watching Republicans get smacked down again by us overrides any candidate preference I have.

We need more diaries detailing how we can beat McCain rather than why the other democratic candidate sucks.

Re: I feel like I am back in Junior High School
Can we still complain about the media?
Now, that's fun!

Re: I feel like I am back in Junior High School

Oh, I wish we would complain about the media a LOT more. They bear a huge amount of responsibility for the degradation of the discourse in this campaign (and every campaign). But when the media tells the story of the 2008 campaign, their own part in the drama will disappear.

Re: I feel like I am back in Junior High School

I am all for trashing the media.  They care more about profits and keeping viewership up rather than actually reporting.  Both campaigns have been victims of a media that cares little for accuracy or fairness.
