Blue Catapult Chooses its Dem Challengers -- Thanks MyDD Community

Thanks to the MyDD Community, Blue Catapult PAC has chosen three Democratic Challengers to support at our Launch Event next week, Wednesday, March 8th in Washington, DC (go to for more info about the event or Blue Catapult PAC in general.)  Remember, our goal is to support Democrats who are challenging incumbent Republicans, especially those who could be competitive if they just got some more cash on hand.

The Candidates are:

DARCY BURNER running against incumbent Republican Dave Reichert in the 8th Congressional District in Washington State.

ERIC MASSA running against Republican incumbent John Kuhl in New York's 29th Congressional District.

CHRIS CARNEY running against Republican Don Sherwood in Pennsylvania's 10th Congressional District.

We got so many great suggestions either through the comment section of my entry last week, or via email ( so that is was very difficult to choose the the first Dem candidates to support.  If we are successful with our first fundraiser, we will then be able to support many of the other Democrats challenging incumbent Republicans that were nominated through the MyDD community.  I want to thank everybody for their input, nominations and comments.  Even if your suggested candidate was not chosen this time we very well may be able to support them in the future.

We should have more about each chosen candidate on our website on Friday.  We will donate most of the funds we receive at the Launch Party to these Dem campaigns.

We hope that if you are in the Washington, DC area you will join us next Wednesday at the Blue Room in Adams Morgan.  We will have DJs, snacks, a cash bar and information about both Blue Catapult and our first challengers.  Again, go to for details.

But also, we have ideas for future fundraisers so that we can support.  But we would like your input again.  If you have fundraiser ideas, cities/areas we should try to hold an event, or just want to comment on Blue Catapult, please either comment here or send your thoughts to

Thanks again everyone for your help. With our efforts hopefully the Map will turn Blue in November and we will be able to make the Democrats the Majority in Congress.

Re: Blue Catapult Chooses its Dem Challengers -- T

Awesome choices!  If I had to guess, those were the exact three that I figured you'd pick, based on the MyDD replies.  That's pretty kick-ass, Ian.

How much are you hoping to raise with this event?

You might as well post a DailyKos diary about it, too, explaining the concept of raising the stakes in potentially-competitive races and publicizing this event.

Great work!  Let us know how it goes and thanks for the post!
