Deaf Democrats of America

Hi all,

I am running Deaf Democrats of America, an organization dedicated to getting Deaf people involved with the Democratic Party. I ran Deaf Democrats for Dean, and worked with DFA and BFA closely, even making a few guest blogger posts on Blog for America.

I hope you can all check my site out and give some ideas/feedbacks. Thanks!

Re: Deaf Democrats of America

I wish you luck as well.

I often feel frustrated by not being able to actively work in the campaigns of progressive Democrats.  I can't canvass nor can I work the phone banks.  I can do routine clerical work and put together canvassing material.

BTW, the site www.deafdemocrats.net is temporarily disabled as of 05/17/2006.

Re: Deaf Democrats of America

Ditto everything said by Pascal.  I am frustrated because I can't canvas or phone bank, can only stuff envelopes or put up signs.  I was participating in my local DFA but could not follow anything being said in the meetings.  If there had just been one person willing to take notes and let me read, but it did not happen.  It was one of those situations I just run into sometimes where they looked like the felt awkward about my "differentness".  So I gave up and quit attending.

We need our own group!  Unfortunately, my local ALDA group seems to be all rich Republicans and I don't fit in there either.

Hope the website is available soon.  I feel so isolated.
