Score Two for Hillary as Obama, Edwards & Richardson Make Huge Mistake

Every campaign cycle candidates & campaigns make mistakes.  This week, Barack Obama & Bill Richardson & John Edwards made a whopper.  In contrast, Hillary Clinton showed how to separate the men, uh women, from the boys.  Sen. Chris Dodd also breathed some life into his campaign.  Somehow, Hillary ends up looking like the great friend of Michican (and probably Florida too), probably picking up the endorsement of Gov. Granholm next week and will suffer just a few mutters from the DNC crowd about "playing by the rules" -- not exactly a battle cry for November.

DC Deaniacs Endorsement Vote - Obama Wins but short of 2/3

Just the facts: After much debate and passion, the Washington, DC Chapter of Democracy for America, DC for Democracy (aka DC Deaniacs), had it's endorsement vote tonight at historic & delicious Ben's Chili Bowl on U St. in Washington, DC, where we pay taxes but can't vote on the US House of Representatives, and the results were:

Frustration at the top, energy from below.  I've been doing these e-mail newsletters since 2003 when it was limited to the Draft Clark Campaign.  This is the biggest one ever, even without factoring in presidential campaigns (and I'm open to listing events from all of the Dem. campaigns if I get plenty of lead time).  It's interesting that despite the stagnation about stopping the war in Congress, there a rising tide of energy for change at the grassroots level -- H. Park.

Mock Iowa Caucus @ YKos, RFK, LaFollette Win (W-Poll)

Deep in the bowels of McCormick Place on Thursday, August 2 at 11:00 AM about 35 of us simulated an Iowa Caucus at Yearly Kos.  Aside from a few social butterflies who left before the final vote was tallied (something that would never happen in Iowa) the process was very much like what will take place in one of the smaller of the 1,784 sites in the state in January.  Real Iowa Caucuses range from about 15 attendees in sparsely populated rural counties to over 600 in Des Moines.  We spent the first half-hour with chatter about the Caucus, past experiences, its quirks, how it has changed since the 1970's and some very basic Caucus strategy.

Obama Clearly Won the Dustup With Hillary w/Poll

Is anyone, perhaps with the exception of Jerome Armstrong & Charles Krauthammer, still making the case that Obama was hurt by the exchange this week with frontrunner Clinton over willingness to meet with some of the worlds dictators.

On the Ground in New Hampshire Knocking on Doors

I've just spent two days knocking on about 115 doors in New Hampshire for the candidate I'm supporting, Barack Obama.  I'm writing to encourage everyone to spend some time away from the keyboard doing the same no matter who you support.  ALL of the candidates and thier organizations need and want feet on the ground in early primary states.  It's a great crew in NH for Obama, I'm sure the same is true of the others.
