6. Thur., June 28, Join Sen. Barack Obama at a FREE pre-debate rally at Howard University in DC!

Next week on Thursday, June 28, all of the Democratic presidential candidates will descend on Howard University for a debate hosted by Tavis Smiley. Each of the campaigns is planning their own pre-debate rally, as is Obama for America. The debates begin at 9pm and there will be a pre-debate rally held before the event. All you need to do is bring your body, a friend, and your voice.  This is our chance, especially those of us in DC who are denied voting rights in Congress, to make our voice heard.  The campaign will provide the rest (hopefully free T-shirts and other Obama schwag!)  If you are interested in participating, join others on the main campus of Howard University at 6:30 PM to show your support for Senator Obama.  Limited free parking is available at the Banneker & Howard Center lots.  There will be shuttle busses between the Metro and also from the parking areas.

Those attending the rally will be bussed (if necessary) to an off-site location to watch the debate together. Campaign staff will be in attendance at the viewing party to mix with supporters and answer questions.
This is a great opportunity to show your support in a fun atmosphere. You won't want to miss out!

More details about the debate can be found online at
http://www.pbs.org/kcet/tavissmiley/spec ial/forums/index.html.  We have no tickets to the debate itself.

10. DC to NH Obama Air/Road Trip, weekend of July 20

The Obama Campaign needs our help in the State of New Hampshire, July 20-22.  The campaign is conducting an ambitious campaign of canvassing in NH to identify Obama supporters.  The name of the game in the Granite State is to identify supporters and those who "lean Obama" and then convert them to volunteers & voters.

The general plan is to fly to Manchester, NH on Friday evening 7/20 and return Sunday evening 7/22 or Monday 7/23.  Some good airfares, direct to Manchester, are available on Southwest Airlines via BWI airport or US Airways from National Airport.  Individual volunteers are responsible for their own transportation.  Some may wish to drive or take a public bus.  The campaign can provide housing (it won't be the Hilton, (expect a couch or floor in a supporters apartment) but some of our group may prefer a motel room.

Not everyone can join us in New Hampshire in July but EVERY ONE OF YOU knows someone who is behind Barack Obama and who might be able to campaign where it matters most.  Please just take a moment to forward this message to three of your friends, family or associates who is on the Obama 08 team.  Questions? concerns? want to sign up? please contact me at 202-544-6262 or hpark4@aol.com

12.  July 7 - A Message from Al Gore

On July 7, more than 2 billion people will join together to watch the Live Earth concerts and demonstrate to our leaders that the time has come to solve the climate crisis. Wherever you are that day, you can be part of the action. At events around the world, we are going to convert the potential energy of Live Earth into a global campaign. In thousands of homes, people will invite their friends and neighbors to watch the concerts and join the movement.

In order to make these parties truly global, I've decided to partner with Avaaz. The 385,000 Avaaz members from every corner of the world, who mobilized to pressure the G8, amazed me. Avaaz's work to give ordinary people around the world a powerful voice in global decision-making is inspiring, and your organizing around the G8 Summit made a significant difference. Now we have the opportunity to expand on that great effort.

Will you commit to organize a Live Earth house party on July 7th? The parties will be fun--and they'll make a difference. If you've got a few friends and a TV, you've got everything you need. http://www.avaaz.org/en/live_earth/lg.ph p
7.7.07 will be the one opportunity we have to bring millions of new people into our campaign. We cannot let it slip by.

If you host a Live Earth Party, you'll have access to a special video I've made to urge people to take action. Together, I know we can convince everyone attending these parties to get involved. In a few short hours, you and your friends can watch the concert, take action -- and, at the end, upload a photo from your event that will be accessible to others taking part throughout the world. Through these parties, we can reach more people than ever before and build a truly global movement to solve the climate crisis.

Holding a Live Earth party is easy. All you need is a television and a few friends. We will provide you with all the tools you need.  Sign up as a party host by visiting: http://www.avaaz.org/en/live_earth/lg.ph p

Live Earth will be a unique moment when the uninterrupted and undivided attention of the world will be focused on the climate crisis. I need your help to make it count.  -- Al Gore
