For many of the reasons you point to I am very disappointed with Obama and his administration. I am almost convinced that he no longer likes the endless tangles that he gets into with the GOP members of Congress. He must be truly disappointed at their treatment of him since he thought (wrongly) that they would work with him. Most Democrats following the hack jobs that we got in 2000, 2002, and 2004 KNEW that these are not people you can work with. The righwing media tries to make it seem that we should forget about all the LIES, DIRTY TRICKS, SCHEMING, ELECTION CHEATING, ets. that Karl Rove and his team over the last 20 years. It now seems that the ONLY Democrat who forgave the GOP was of all people Barack Obama.  Of all people being black should have made him automatically respond to the Republicans as his enemies. He is disgusting naive.

He isn't very good for the Democratic Party. In my precinct (in Texas), despite the huge GOP advantage in money and party organizations, we had pushed the Republican party to the brink of bankruptcy literally--they have no money. Well, then along comes Obama and his bumbling team of Clinton era retreats and now it is the Democrats around here who are on the run....it is a terrible situation.

Finally, he is about to find out the same lesson of Bill Clinton---that is once the GOP takes control of the House, they will have the great empowerment to go after him.  I wonder how he is going to feel when on Jan 2 2011, Ken Starr shows up at the White House to announce that the Republicans have decided to IMPEACH Obama......he is SCREWED and he deserves it....

  • We are about to see if Obama learned anything from helping Wall Street and the banks over the last 2 years     THE LESSON:

HE DIDN"T EVEN GET A THANK YOU CARD FOR HELPING THESE GOONS---IN FACT THEY ARE NOW MAKING HUGE CAMPAIGN DONATIONS TO THE GOP AND NOT THE DEMOCRATS.....

Sorry to say, he probably STILL DOESN'T GET IT__TRULY CLUELESS---JUST LIKE JIMMY CARTER.....

  • comment on a post Cracks in the Media Frame Propping Up the Tea Party? over 3 years ago

I'm fascinated by the "Liberal Media" (that's what the 500 conservative commentators say about the 20 or so liberal commentators.

The truth in this survey is this:

    1. Mainstream media is dying.  More and more of modern people i.e. Gen X and Gen Y'er s don't even listen to or even read mainstream media.

    2. Why do liberals even give any notice to what is said by AM based rightwing radio stations. Do you or I or millions of Gen X and Gen Y people even know there is an AM band on the radio?  Remember in the 1990's when the Bush family backed Clear Channel Corp. bought about 1200 AM radio stations all over the country. The liberals and others were scared to death about that concentration of radio in the hands of the rightwing.  All that worrying was for nothing. Good old liberal Steve Jobs dealt Clear Channel a death blow with the I-Pod.  No one except a bunch of cranky old farts listens to the endlessly boring shit on
AM radio stations and Clear Channel has filed for bankruptcy---no advertiser wants their product on those stations---the young are the people who buy stuff not the cranky old farts listening to AM radio.

    3. We have a right wing oriented newspaper here in Houston and its downsizing by the day. I eventually think that they will go to weekend only paper editions -- if you want to read the paper during weekdays you will have to go to the internet or Kindle versions. My 2 Gen X kids nor my wife read the paper.  But they all have I-Pods and laptops where they get their information, music, and news.

Unless the rightwing can figure out something better than helping out old people with SSI and Medicare then they are doomed.

    4. The Tea Party is SILLY.  They only formed up because they are racist and hate Obama.  Billionaire welfare receipients almost daily ask for Houston's city council to bail them out of bad deals---but you NEVER see any Tea Party protests. So I am lead to believe that it's not about taxes but about Obama that gets them worked up.

Good thoughts...you could name at least 50 areas where the Tea Party would shutdown part or all of the Federal governments oversight and its spending.

What the Tea Party and Mr. DeMint describes as I see it is Mexico North of the Rio Grande about 2030.  The backers of the Tea Party/the GOP/the rightwing media conglomerates will have given us by 2030 or so is a system very much like Mexico, Brazil, China. I call these 1% countries because all forms of basic services and commerce is owned by 1% of the population.  We are very close to that now-- in 2010 about 10% of the population own 85% of our assets as a nation.  I like to use Mexico because I have lived there and I have viewed its degeneration into a country which has a small cadre of billionaires and then a huge number of very impoverished people. It has a tiny middle class.  Its social structure has its richest citizens who live away from its poverty--mostly they live on mountain top estate guarded 24/7 by the Mexican Army.  They only care about increasing their own wealth. The overall GDP in Mexico is of no consequence to them (in fact Spain and Mexico had the same GDP level in 1980--now Spain far outstrips them in all categories except perhaps value add mining / extraction industry).  On the economic level, Mexico's richest billionaires i.e. Carlo Slim own all the essential "low-tech" industries i.e. water supply, electric gas/oil utilities, and food distribution. They care nothing for any high tech industrial or scientific base--they couldn't support it in any case because that would require them to support a heavy investment in human capital and education which they will NOT do. In fact the Government in Mexico exists as the protector of the 1% billionaire class only--everyone else gets little from it. You might have noticed that G W Bush was very fond of Mexico. ON the day after the election the Tea Party will be folded. The Koch brothers will no longer be sending any checks to pay the bills.

By mid-2011, you won't even get the Republicans to mention the Tea Party. It served its purpose and got them back in power. But

"After the revolution is over, the first people you kill are the revolutionaries"  Adolph Hitler in July of 1934 the Night of the Long Knives". He had just murdered 10 of the top leaders (his friends even) who led the Nazi revolution.  The big bizness people don't want the tea party around getting in the way....BYE BYE TEEPEE

  • You mirror my thoughts on Obama.....When Bush stole the election in 2000, my Democratic precinct team in west Houston were determined to do something about his party. This part of Houston was once (about 25 years ago) 98% rightwing conservative. But following the stolen election in 2000 we were energized and through hardwork we had pushed that number steadily downward to 2006 we had about a 50-50 split with the Repub-liars. Then along comes Obama and his flash and pazzazz campaign team. He didn't give the Dems in Texas a dime of all that money he had but anyway we got over 3 million voters in the Democrat primary. In 2000 it was about 1.2 million Democrats. Obama won big and had a huge majority in Congress as we know.

All of a sudden he went Republican-Light on us. He set about screwing the entire progressive wing of the party. The banks got Trillions, the car companies billions, the KOREAN CAR companies with the cash for Clunkers got billions, the Wall Streeters got a Trillion, more banks more billions, the huge bonuses for theft work on Wall Street.

All the time WE GOT NOTHING. Then came the big deal on HCR. WHAT A JOKE---instead of giving everyone a Medicare like plan which everyone know works well--Obama and his team   got us tossed back to the healthcare insurance company until 2014 while he toured Europe, Egypt, started more war in Afghanistan, etc.

This guy is a Chocolate Carter. I hope Howard Dean takes him on in 2012...
We worked our butts off to turn this part of conservative Houston stronghold into a little bit Democrat territory and then now we are going to lose it all because of Obama....had he lost to McCain we still would stand around 50-50 here but with Barack in power were back to 98% Republican....
If Obama really wants to do something he can start interviewing lawyers to defend himself. No one in the press on here talks much about the GOP controlled House in 2011 going after Obama for impeachment. They can hardly wait. They are racist anyway. The way they treated Clinton is tame compared to what he is going to get.  He better get ready to meet Mr. Ken Starr's well financed team. Obama should discuss developing a good legal team with Bill Clinton. Forget any progress--that's over.

With Obama's continued  no-show support for progressive issues and the Democrats in Congress, he deserves what he gets from the GOP run  legal counsel in the years ahead. Does he really think that the GOP has gone soft just because he wishes it to be so. Nope, the GOP House will hound him right into an impeachment indictment....

Actually, gun control will finally come to America when you get all the Police Agencies in the USA and a group of victims relatives to form an alligence like the MADD was formed in the 1990's to control drug drivers.....

  • Obama's hiding again instead of being out helping the Democrats...he WILL BE SORRY---

JANUARY 2 2011---The receptionist at the White House will call Mr. Obama:  Mr. President, there is a Mr. Ken Starr and a bunch of his lawyers here to see you--they said that Mr. Boehner asked them to come here and bother you for the next 2 years.....

I made that up but Obama's sorry reluctance to campaign for Democrats running Congress come back on him if the GOP gets control of the House and starts subpoening people for his impeachement....

With his record of benign neglect of the Democrats in Congress--he is most deserving of a fair impeachment investigation....

  • comment on a post What’s Up With Germany? over 3 years ago

Almost every Global business person you seen for the last 20 years has just about bragged about closing a plant here and sending it to China, Mexico, or India. Then in the next breath they brag how they will be able to send the products BACK HERE TO SELL--what idiots are these. Not so the Germans. As we know they are tough negoitators on trade and here is something they have done that really makes us look stupid.

The Germans have have good fortune in several ways:
    1. Their education system doesn't try to send everyone to college--its realistic and tries to match people to the skills needed in the real world. On the other hand, our system is crazy / nuts to have everyone "Prepped" to go to college. However, its a sham system. Only about 20 percent of the students go to a 4 year university. We need to try an education system which is geared to the other 80 percent -- i.e. auto mechanics, bank tellers, repairmen, etc.
    2. The Germans like all European countries don't allow the wholesale immersion of their countries in goods from low wage countries without tit-for-tat. For example, in the 1980's when the Globalists wanted to drown us all in foreign made goods and destroy out manufacturing base, the Germans did not allow it to happen--but we did. The Japanese can sell millions of cars here with no restrictions. But the USA can only sell about 30,000 cars there. In Germany, the Japanese car companies are allowed to sell the same number of cars there as the Germans can sell in Japan.
The German system is sensible--ours is irrational. The educate their people for jobs that they have--we give people a non-specific education for jobs that don't exist.  The Germans didn't send their jobs to India and China and Japan....we did....so we have a lot of misery, jobless, infrastructure that crumbling etc.

    3. They don't bring in millions of uneducated immigrants from 3rd world countries like Mexico and Africa. Instead they lock their doors, take the people they have and upgrade their skills.  Why do we bring in millions of new immigrants when we have 20 million unemployed skilled people--its NUTS!!!

  • I often think that Democrats would have been better off if Obama had lost. He makes McCain look better all the time.

Consider that if we still had a heavily controlled Dem congress, the GOP would be screwed. Now it appears that they will get at least the House. They will definitely get Ken Starr to come back to town and shower that asshole with money galore--he will make Obammie and the Dems miserable for the next 6 years at least just like with Clinton. Only difference is that Bill Clinton did not fear Ken Starr, Obama will run and hit like a runaway slave...
