On CNN Wolfe Blitzer had guest James Carville. Carville was furious with Obama on the tax cut deal. His anger came through when he said that Obama "capitulated" to the GOP and had allowed himself to be outmanuvered by the GOP on this issue. I think that Carville feels the same anger as the rest of us. As for me I'm looking for another candidate to work for in 2012....

Do you think the Republicans will work to impeach Obama. I think they know they cannot get him impeached but it will further weaken him to the electorate. He already has a wimpy image--this will make it worse for him and cost him a lot of money...

  • The troops in the political trenches nation wide are beginning to talk about how bad Obammie is for the party---I think there is a chance they will
start a dump Obammie movement very soon.....I heard a labor guy today and they are furious for his caving in on the Korean Trade Treaty which Obammie gave the Koreans everything they wanted. They get to sell 750,000 cars here per year (Honda by contrast doesn't ship its cars from Japan it makes and sells 400,000 cars here in the USA).  The Koreans set up the trade deal so that they can veto any trade decision that the US Commerce Department makes.  They can also employ non-tariff ways to block us from exporting our products to Korea. Right now the chief way they keep out our farm products is to insist that our products are inferior to theirs. Case in point is Washington State apples. The Koreans do NOT grow apples but they do not allow us to ship any apples to them....THIS TRADE DEAL THAT OBAMMIE HAS ENGINEERED IS VERY BAD FOR USA WORKERS AND WILL COST  A MILLION JOBS OVER THE NEXT 5 YEARS....this prick lied last week when he said that he could not get the trade deal negotiated -- what he should have said was that HIS CHECK FROM THE KOREANS HAD NOT YET CLEARED HIS CAYMAN BANK ACCOUNT...

How can we keep from losing the Senate in 2012. The president has gone south--did I misunderestimate him while in India, he apologized to the Indians for allowing us to send them 2 million jobs in call centers. And then he gets excited to the point of orgasim when told that that 150,000 out of 17 million people here went back to work last month......

I can't believe this guy--he makes Jimmy Carter look like a political genius. Why couldn't Obama be a Republican? He acts like one all the time....

  • comment on a post Dump Obama: a process of development over 3 years ago

Starting after Bush engineered the 2004 victory over Kerry, many of us local workers/organizers recognized that the Bush Cabal let by Bush Sr.'s money and their oil company contributors were too strong to push on the national level. We worked our asses off for locals here in Harris County (Houston) and in 2005 we started to make headway and forced out many local GOP office holders of all stripe from Dogcathers to District Court Judges.  That got stronger in 2007 (2006 saw the taking back of the Congress at the Federal level).  We seized more offices from the GOP. This is hard to believe but with a coalition of minorities, well-to-do innercity liberals, lawyers, etc. we push the GOP so hard that the Harris County GOP was bankrupt. Since when has any GOP operation been in financial trouble. We looked forward to support from the White House team in pushing for a new situation in Texas (by 2009, the Texas Legislature was 49-51 Dem/Republican which it had not been since the early 1980's).  We got a rude awakening from the Obama team which was mainly comprised of Clinton Re-treads including even Hillary. Here's what got us worried:

    1. In the Dec. 2008 just a few days after the election there was going to be 2 major runoff's in the Senate--Saxbe Chambliss (scumbag GOP incumbent) and Martin an upstart Democrat. The other was the well reported between Al Franken in Minn. and his runoff Republican.  The winning of these 2 races would have equaled the magic 60 filibuster proof that the Democrats needed.

We were shocked down to our shoes when Obama started to appease the GOP and didn't even make a Presidential type support campaign for either Franken or Martin. He essentially walked away from these two races. Was he bought off ala the concessions of Al Gore in 2000 and Kerry in Ohio in 2004? Did someone in the GOP get to him. I don't know but he turned tail to run and let these guys just fall on their own.

    2. When Ted Kennedy died it one would assume that Obama would fight like hell to keep that seat--may Democrats including me were just totally embarrassed by the loss of that seat--Kennedy would have blow a gasket if he could have foreseen Obama's milktoast support of Martha Coakley. Obama made one of the lamest campaign trips to Massachusetts to support her just 1 time and just 2 days before the election.

My feeling is that Dump Obama makes sense. He doesn't support local Democrats. Why should we work for him.

Let him run as an Independent like Teddy Roosevelt had to do with no local party support. Hey, his ego may have him convinced that he can will by just making pretty speeches and he doesn't need us pavement pounders/phone bankers. Obama has great disdain for local Democratic efforts to build the party. HE CAN TAKE A HIKE.

As a local organizer, I can tell you that there are email lists generating right now  to start the process of Dump Obama.....of course, we may not get a chance...on January 2 2011 one of the first things that might happen is that Ken Starr will serve a Boehner House Subpeona on Obama for Impeachment...so be it...that would be great....we would get Joe Biden under the Constitution's succession rules.

  • Pelosi worked her ass off since 2006. What did the Obama crowd i.e. Rahm and that swarmy Gibbs bunch of Clinton retreads do during the last 20 months?--not much. She had to ride heard on 250 Democrats in the House ALL of whom had different districts with different demographics, economies, etc.  Consider that Reid only had to supervise about 50 Dems in the Senate and ALL Obama had to do was stay in the White House and travel around flying in AF-One.

You obviously haven't looked at the complete picture. In 2002 and 2004 we (Democrats) got "Roved" like crazy and lost in most all elections both national and local.  Then people woke up to find that the Bush Cheney team was lying all along about the Iraq War--it wasn't about freedom, democracy, Saddam, etc. but it WAS ALL ABOUT THE OIL.

The voters tossed out the GOP and we took over and Pelosi got the Speaker post. Around here we (west Houston Democrats) picked up Judgeships and local Texas Legislature seats that had been GOP for over 30 years.  None of this was due to Obama  and his Clinton retread team.

Then 2008 and we picked up a few more judge offices and one State Senator--everything was good for us.

Obama, got the Presidency and that is ALL he and his team cared about.  He never did one twit of party building or local organization. No grassroots money came to any Democratic operation anywhere that I know of--Obama doesn't obviously care about local political operations. Well, on Nov. 2 that neglect was a disaster for us. WE LOST 22 SEATS IN THE TEXAS LEGISLATURE --- WE COULD HAVE TAKEN CONTROL BUT WITH THE OBAMA TEAM IN PLACE THINGS HAVE GONE TO SHIT.

SINCE HE DOESN'T CARE FOR LOCAL POLITICS, I AM CERTAINLY NOT GOING TO POUND PAVEMENTS FOR HIM IN 2012 LIKE I DID IN 2008. I AND MANY DEMS AROUND HERE ARE LOOKING FOR A GOOD CANDIDATE WHO WILL TAKE HIM ON. NEVER MIND MCCONNELL MAKING HIM A ONE TERMER  --- OBAMA'S BIGGEST ENEMY IN 2012 IS NOT THE REPUBLICANS

HIS BIGGEST PROBLEM IN 2012 IS THE LIBERAL LEFT OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY.

Just tell me how Nancy Pelosi screwed up the Democratic Party. She had the House votes to pass healthcare and single payer back in mid-2009 while Obama and Reid couldn't even get around the GOP's 41 Sentors.

YOUR ANALYSIS IS TOTALLY WRONG--- You are just ghost writing in order to get the blame off Obama. It won't work. We liberals will not buy Obama's lame leadership ever again.

Pelosi was not the problem--THE PROBLEM IS OBAMA and he must run in the 2012 primaries on his record.....

Today on CNN Wolf Blitzer, David Gergan was asked about the people leading for 2012 in the GOP. His comment was "the one person I see as pulling the Republicans together in 2012 is Jeb Bush". Damn, I hate being right so much. The Bush's are definitely back..............

  • comment on a post How'd That Bipartisanship Thing Work Out For You? over 3 years ago

The Democrats are such Woosies....."Bipartisanship" is only every heard when the Democrats have an edge in Congress. Go back to 2000, 2002, 2004. Tom Delay was hell bent to re-engineer every Congressional District in the United States so that Republicans would always have safe districts and forever the GOP would own the power of Congress. He just followed a plan that the GOP's braintrust came up with about 40 years ago:

    1. Get a Republican elected President and pack the judiciary with neo-con judges all the way up to the SCOTUS--they got that done nicely and last summer it was complete--the corporate money can now be dumped into any political race with no restrictions and the SCOTUS has completely suspended the "one-man, one-vote rule for protecting minority Congress Districts."

    2. Push the Democrats into a position where they a marginalized minor party.  That was succeeding but the GOP then stumbled and elected G.W. Bush. He promptly set out to only focus on two groups -- oil companies and the ultra-rich.

In any case the GOP was killing the Democratic party all over the country and looked like that was unstoppable.

When the Iraq war became a quagmire and the GOP Congress got dumped in 2006. That put an end to Bush's power to appoint neo-con judges like Roberts, Scalia, etc. It put an end to coverup's, buddy-buddy sweetheart contracts for defense contracts, it put an end to destroying the environment.

The Progressive Democrats won Congress and many including me felt that the House should seek impeachment of Bush and Cheney for the war crimes and lies that lead us into Iraq.

SO WHAT DID THE GOP DEMAND--"BE NICE TO US, DON'T SEEK REVENGE FOR WHAT WE DID TO CLINTON AND ALL THE DIRTY TRICKS WE PULLED TO GET BUSH ELECTED, AND FORGET ABOUT THE 1 MILLION WAR DEAD IN IRAQ for their oil.  LETS HAVE BIPARTISANSHIP and PLAY NICE IN CONGRESS."

Remember the media saying that Bush / Cheney should not be impeached and Pelosi and the Democrats should be nice to the beaten Republicans........

Only persons I know that wanted to be nice to the GOP were Obama and Pelosi.  So she declined to indict Bush. Missed her chance and all those Republicans that wanted Bipartisanship are now HER BOSSES in Congress.

Don't forget Mr. Feel-Good Obama, he went everywhere campaigning on being nice and wanting Bipartisanship with the GOP.

As you say "How did that work out for you Obammie?"  He's toast and I think the GOP in the next 6 months will start to really screw him without any K-Y lube.

But here is a historical irony:  Today, Nov. 3 the GOP is being nice and talking cooperation---

---but don't be surprised that on Jan 2 2011, the first people to show up at the White House with subpeonas for Obama, will be Darrel Issa and Ken Starr working on his impeachment. You can bet that the GOP is going to try to impeach Obama. He is a prime target for them because he is such a "Woosie-in-Chief".

    HEY OBAMMIE----------GOTCHA!!!!  LOL!!!

  • comment on a post There’s Gotta Be a Morning After over 3 years ago

    Good points but random.

    1. Nancy Pelosi was a very good /great Speaker--look at her record--the Speaker has to marshall 250 Democrats or so individual people from all kinds of places.  Each Representative has to toe the line for his/her district--that is not easy. Do this -- you have a hole in the street in front of your house. Call your Senator--what do they do? They tell you that its not their job--they are above that pay grade and you should call your Congressman.  You do that and you will get the hole patched.   But with all that span of control, PELOSI had all her people lined up on ALL the important votes. The House was unstoppable.

Just the opposite for Harry Reid--he only had to control about 50-55 Democratic Senators plus a few independents. He fucked it up all over the place. We had the House votes for months on Healthcare in place and Nancy was ready to vote with her House Democrats.  Reid's team was almost never ready. The Senate was about as unstable as you can get. Harry Reid did his job eventually.

Lastly, lets look at the Obama/Obama team. They had maybe 5 people engaged in passing legislation.  Every time you turned around just at the point when Reid and Pelosi had the votes lined up, the Obama team caved in to the Republicans or to lobbyists or critics in the media.

I'm like you I'm done with Obama. He has destroyed all the team work especially in local elections and huge momentum we had under Howard Dean starting in 2004. The Democrats would do well to dump him for 2012 although that is suicide because the black Democrats will feel betrayed and probably stay home.

Obama has set back our efforts here in west Houston by 20 years. His run in 2012 will most likely cause us to lose many important gains made in 2006 -- i.e. 1st Democrats in the following offices: County Sheriff, County Attorney, about 25 major County Judges and other downballot offices. The reason these offices are in danger is not Obama per se but the fact (very strange for a local organizer) that he has NO interest in supporting local races for Democrats.  He will now totally focus on getting thru the 2012 primaries.

In summary, he has no interest in helping us locally so we have no interest in him at the top of the ticket.

(Woman's Voice speaking) Mr. President, I have a Mr. Ken Starr in the lobby. He wants you to come down and bring all your legal team with you. He says that if you don't have a legal team he would suggest that you call up Bill Clinton and get his impeachment team together. Mr. Starr commented that since you got most of your team from the Clinton presidency, you should find a good impeachment lawyer among them too.

Mr. President, while I am not an political expert, my guess is that Mr. Starr is here to give you some kind of Congressional impeachment papers....I was here when he showed up and did that to Mr. Clinton....

Obama will find his Holy Grail isn't going to be "working across the isle with the GOP". They are out to get him and unlike 1995 when they tried it on Clinton, the United States has way to many problems (you outlined them nicely) for Obama to start tearing up the social safety net to please them as he has done many times over the last 20 months. Its one thing  take action to help the country, its another to sage your ego. Just Thirteen days after Kennedy was killed, LBJ stood before Congress and told them to pass the first of several Civil Rights bills. Not for his sake (it cost him dearly in the South) but because it was the right thing to do.

  • comment on a post He still does not get it over 3 years ago

Mr Obama-ego started early on his downward slide early on, like the next day after his election. I first noticed that he was going to walk away from the promises and the thousands of Democratic teams and volunteers who worked hard to elect him very soon after election night.  He may win nomination in 2012 but I'm one who IS NOT going to be poll watching or putting out campaign signs and running phone banks for HIM. I will spend my valuable precinct time helping local candidates try to undo the mess that this very aloof man has gotten us into around here.

The reason is simple:  In 2006 and 2008 we worked our butts off to build up the Democratic party here in west Houston. It was for many years a Republican stronghold i.e. judges, county officials, county attorney, prosecutors --- all were GOP. By 2006 we had pushed the local GOP to bankruptcy without any help from Obama. Did we get any recognition / any grassroots money / any organizational help from the Obama people in 2008? I understand that they had over $200 million in the bank at the end of the election for his Presidency. Did he or Axelrod spend any money on building on what momentum that we had going here and in a thousand other places--HELL NO. We wanted to go on to Georgia in Dec. 2008 to get out the vote for Martin in the Senate runoff against Saxby Chambliss--you remember Mr. Chambliss a big  scumbag GOP senator who came into office  with the lies his team told in 2002 that Max Cleland got his Vietnam wounds actually playing with a hand grenade but not in combat--yeah him. Anyway--did Obama lift a finger or make a trip to Georgia?  Nope--same story in Minnesota and then the capper in Massachusetts--not any help from the Obama White House team came to help.

Your point about him not getting it (keeping Ted Kennedy's seat would seem important to Obama and the Democrats but he just let it slide and went on one of his endless diplomatic trips abroad) is spot on--the reason is his GIANT EGO. No matter how many times the GOP tells him they are going to do their damnest to take him down--his ego gets him to thinking--"Hey, no way--these people will see the error of their ways-- everyone must love me the way that I love me?"

Now its Obama's turn to be in trouble. Don't think I'm going to be helping him out in 2012 but then I will probably be helping Joe Biden since Obama may get dumped by the new Congress Republicans. I wonder what his ego will do to his psyche when Boehner and McConnell decide to send Ken Starr into the White House to impeach him.....wow, maybe he can smooth talk them into being nice. I hope so or else he is going to sink like a stone. The Democrats here don't need him. He has done us a ton of NO Favors now for 2 years. Let him and his big fat EGO face the music and the crap that Boehner, McConnell, and Issa are gearing up to throw at him.

I would tell Lori that this "healthcare reform"
is "unhealthy for us but real healthy for the Health Insurance companies Executive Bonues".

  • Can you image running a statewide election and doing this:

    1. Calling the unemployed lazy bastards (my word not her's but the meaning is there).

    2. Getting the really docile/moribund hispanic voters really get pissed off and head off to vote against her. I have never seen anyone get the hispanics to rise up--in Houston, Texas back in the early 1990's the Democrats even setup a Congressional District for Hispanics in that area where they make up the huge majority (>80%). The hispanics were so ambivalent about having their very own member of Congress they promptly elected Gene Green an anglo who has been in Congress ever since.  But Angle has really really got them pissed off and they are headed to the polls to take her down.

    3. Encourages race baiting and even runs thoses kinds of ads.

Compare that to Rick Perry against popular Democrat Bill White:

    1. Perry never race baits even though his base of ultra-rightwing supporters are very racist. Consider that back in 1998, George Bush was Governor and he appointed a black excellent jurist to the Texas Supreme Court vacant seat.  In the very next election the ultra-right wing base of the Texas Republican Party voted the black Judge out of office and replaced  him with the mayor of a small central Texas town who wasn't even a lawyer.

    2. Perry courts all stripes of voters. He has many warts in his past but gets by that by running ads where he is seen on farms, in the city, shown with black people, attending mexican functions, etc.

Angle should have kept her big mouth shut but then that isn't the habit of the Tea Party candidates or their BIG MOUTH SUPPORTERS.
