You know, Obama cited working with Elizabeth Edwards on healthcare, and cited Hillary Clinton's tireless efforts on this issue, as well, and said that they will both be a part of the resolution of this issue. I'd think that this is a good place for all of us to put our efforts - Obama's health care plan isn't written in stone, and I think Hillary and Edwards supporters could still have some influence on it.
So if there are issues that you think Hillary had the best position on, let the Obama campaign know about it. I've read some touching diaries with personal stories which led some of you to support Hillary over Obama - keep writing about it. I still want single payer universal healthcare, and if we get enough Dems in Congress, I think Obama will go for it.
A lot has been said about strategy and intent in this primary season, but something that hasn't been talked about much is luck. Breaks matter - how the ball bounces off the rim, or on the baseball diamond or the football field, matter. Obama got most of them. An inch here, an inch there, and we're talking about a different result.
That being said, Hillary showed us what she is about today, and I thank and salute her and her supporters. That being said, how cool is it that Obama will make his acceptance speech at the Democratic convention on the anniversary of MLK's 'I have a Dream' speech? That will be a hell of a speech!
So, where are you going to go, where you can join a group of millions of people from all backgrounds, cultures, and educations all support a candidate and nobody EVER says a stupid or mean thing? McCain? Barr? Paul? Nader?
Some people say opinions are like assholes. Everybody has one. But I think the more apt description is that assholes are like opinions. Every asshole has one.
And no, I didn't call anyone here an asshole. And if I offended anyone, I renounce and reject myself, and I'm sorry if ANYONE took offense.
Now excuse me, I'm going to go try and win an election.
