Obama supporter asks tough questions to McCain, Palin

Hat tip, once again, to Democracy for New Mexico for catching this. Crossposted at New Mexico FBIHOP.

Jim, a Corrales resident and AMERICAblog reader was at El Pinto restaurant on Sunday when John McCain and Sarah Palin came in to get some salsa. The two candidates shook hands and had their good photo-op at the restaurant. McCain also visited the restaurant during his July visit, so he must like the salsa.

He shares that with George W Bush who visited the restaurant in both 2000 and 2004. The restaurant was also the backdrop to an episode of SportsCenter in 2005.

But McCain had this interaction with the AMERICAblog reader:

[A]s I shook his hand, I asked, "Sir, I respect your service but, why were you against the GI bill?" Senator McCain, paused, he looked a bit surprised at the question and then he said, "Nice to meet you." I repeated the question and he repeated his non-answer. He quickly worked his way down the line. So much for straight-talk!
Palin threw her fellow Alaskan under the bus when asked a tough question:
Sarah first looked at Caterina said hello, and I shook her hand. I asked, "Are supporting Ted Stevens this year?" She replied, "He's under indictment you know...his trial is in September." I replied, "But are you voting for him?" She walked away without answering.
Wow.

But one thing, AMERICAblog; what you wrote isn't completely true: "Jim, who sent us this post and photos, has now asked Sarah Palin more questions than the entire political press corps COMBINED. Nice work, Jim. If only the traditional media types could be so industrious."

We have our own pushy reporter who spoke to Palin, but was cut off before he could ask any tough questions. But judging by her answer to Jim's question... I don't expect she would have given much of an answer to those anyway.

Nice!

I bet they had to pull some David Blaine shiste to get to ask Palin an actual question!

GI Bill

Obama should make ads about that and Biden should constantly talk about it on the campaign trail:

"He asks you to fight with him, fight for what exactly? He couldn't even fight for war vets."

Thats so Biden-esque.
