Bill O'Reilly's Violent, Racist Comment: Must be Stopped

Whatever you think about Barack Obama or Michelle Obama, we as Americans cannot put up with violent, racist comments.  Take a look at the diary about what Bill O'Reilly Said on DailyKos.

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/2/20/ 145745/886/64/460631

This is what he said:

"I don't want to go on a lynching party against Michelle Obama unless there's evidence, hard facts, that say this is how the woman really feels."

I see lots of diaries about how you're upset about Obama winning.  About how you think the world is coming to an end.  But now is a time we need to come together.  If not about who you support for president, at least about what people should and shouldn't say.  Everyone that got so upset about David Shuster shouldn't be a hypocrite.  Lets unite and make sure that O'Reilly can't get away with this language.  Not now.  Not ever again.

This is totally objectionable. I am a Hillary supporter. but that is beside the point. O'Reilly thinks he is above the law.

Time for an O'Reilly takedown
We need to hit FOX where it hurts, the pocketbook. Call FOX now and tell them you're boycotting O'Reilly's advertisers. FOX: 888-369-4762

Re: Bill O'Reilly's Violent...

Granted, I'm a Hillary supporter, and I didn't like what Michelle Obama said (deal with it).

But Bill O'Reilly making a vicious, racially-charged slur like that is appalling. He'll get away with it, though, because conservatives can get away with anything on FOX. That station has no standards. I don't think there's much point in sending emails or making phone calls, though. That pasty piece of shit is FOX's biggest asset - he's knows they won't let him go or reprimand him. The man thinks he's untouchable. And can you imagine trying to get him to apologize the way David Schuster did? I don't see it happening.

Re: Bill O'Reilly's Violent, Racist Comment: Must

I completely agree with this as being horrific, but I will not stand up for someone who has been absolutely disgusting to someone as MO has been to Hillary!

Its funny to me that NOW that there is someone being nasty to your guys spouse it is completely wrong and way over the line! Kos is the worst person in the world and I will never read his blog again!

I swear all you Obama fans are hypocrites! I will really have to pray and examine my feelings if Obama wins the nom! His supporters and he himself have really turned me off! I think Kos has really helped me go from "I will vote for Obama" to "I will have to think about it"

So this is ya'lls fight! Deal with!

Hey, now that's independence

But the phrase "lynching party" shouldn't have any racial overtones.  Blacks have hardly had a monopoly on being the victims of historical lynchings.  And the phrase is a general idiom representing a gang-up attack of someone.

We can't outlaw certain words because they may have had some minor association with racial references.  A few years back some government bureaucrat suffered serious consequences because he said during a meeting that he was distressed by the continuously "niggardly" budgets that the city departments were being allotted.  Now, this is a word with a long established history of use to represent the idea of measly but it caused an uproar because it sounded like a familiar racial slur.

Re: Bill O'Reilly's Violent, Racist Comment: Must

Obama & Kos are hypocrites and O Reilly is a hypocrite too.

I wonder who is more sometimes.

As about Michelle, respest is earned. She never showed any respect for Senator Clinton and her family. She played the race card to the maximum in South Carolina. She doesnt deserve any respect as an individual.

But racism is a different matter. Any one playing racism or making racist comment is a degraceful person and O Reilly should note that.

Get a life

so he used the phrase "lynching party."  Big deal.

And even if I found those words objectionable (which  I don't), I don't feel one bit compelled to defend Michelle Obama.  The Obamas are your chosen couple, not mine.

Re: Bill O'Reilly's Violent, Racist Comment: Must

I agree with your sentiments. But it's O Reilly , the one I dislike along with Sean Hannity.

Re: Bill O'Reilly's Violent, Racist Comment: Must

Doesn't lynching have many meanings?

the dictionary says that it is a "kill by hanging for an alleged offense with or without a trial"

So doesn't that mean it could be other things? Doesn't mean it is really a racist statement does it?

SEE HOW THAT WORKS!

Re: Bill O'Reilly's

You know what? O'Reilly is a disgusting pig. And if he went off TV I would certainly be glad.

However, the Obamas have lost their ability to call anyone a racist after calling Hillary one. Even the most inane comment was racist and now something really bad comes along and guess what? The race card no longer is operational because it's been played too much already.

After all of the disenfranchisement...by

Obama supporters you guys go this one alone.  Good Luck.  Enjoy!  What goes around does, indeed, come around.

Michelle has had a few racist moments, too

I'm an African American, but I strongly believe that Michelle Obama has made a few racist comments of her own. Racism by both blacks and whites should be held by equal standards.

I won't defend her here. She and her husband clearly used racism to their advantage albeit falsely. It's sort of like the boy who cried wolf. She used it falsely the first time, so when it becomes real (which it has not), it will be nearly impossible to defend her.

Just because the Obamas are black doesn't mean they have some special ownership to being the victim of racism.

Secret Service?
The SS bubble is going to close tighter and tighter around Obama now that he's the presumptive nominee. Can't they investigate , give Bill-O the full rubber glove body cavity search, and send him to Federal Pound Me In The Ass Prison?

Re: Bill O'Reilly's Violent, Racist Comment: Must

"Must be stopped?" Nice to see you care about the Constitution. Free speech mean anything to you?

Who listens to O'Reilly anyway? Don't you know that when you "stop" speech that you find offensive, you are welcoming the suppression of your own speech in the future by the same logic?

Good lord, the Obama Blogswarm really is the Internet's SS. Will this post even make it? Or must my dissent also be muzzled? You people are scary as hell. Do us all a favor and take a peak at the Constitution one night.
