Oh don't get me wrong.  I think Edwards WANTS the presidency position and he will continue trying to get it - for awhile (New Hampshire - maybe).

But I do think he's also looking further down the road - what happens if he doesn't win?

  • on a comment on Obama and Edwards - a Team? over 6 years ago

I don't believe Edwards would make a good VP candidate, mainly because of his failed run in 2004 (not all his fault).  I really do think using him as Health Leader would a great idea.  He's well known for fighting the insurance companies.

  • Excuse me?  My sister gave me that nickname when we were kids.  We are white.

Why does EVERYTHING have to be a RACISTS remark.

What you just SAID seems more racists then what this diary is talking about.

Did ANYBODY read the WHOLE column over at Coonsey's View?  From the sound of it, no.

  • I'm sorry to hear that.

Question for you.  What has Hillary or Edwards done for Blacks that's been ever lasting may I ask?

To be fair to Obama, I think your statement, "He might help his network of supporters who he has cultivated over the years (basically the people that he knows)", could be true for ALL candidates.

  • Actually the first sentence in this diary says, "Why is Hillary Clinton doing better than Barack Obama when it comes to getting the Black vote?  According to the polls, she is winning both the black and women votes."

If I were AA, I would be thinking about how Obama got where he is today.  Not so many years ago, there is no way a BLACK person would be this close to being President of the U.S..  He must have done something right.

Perhaps being half and half has helped him but you must admit, he LOOKS black and I rather doubt each person that he approached bothered to ask him if he was a FULL black or not.

My point is...I think...he must have made some blacks happy or he wouldn't have won in Chicago.

If I were Black and if I felt the man or woman would be an 'improvement' for my race - over any white man/woman, I would tend to vote for him or her.

And in this case, with the other choice being Hillary -I would definitely be looking else where because I would refuse to re-live history with her and Bill.

Meaning no disrespect for Hillary and Bill.  They'd make wonderful team - however - I don't they'll make the General election.

I do not mean any disrespect toward Blacks or Whites.  I'm talking about being human.

I am sure Hillary would be an ok President.  What I'm not so sure about is, will she make it thru the General election?  I don't think so.  I think Americans will be bombarded by the GOP commercials showing Bill kissing Monica, Bill pointing his finger at the camera, Bill's Impeachment, Bills not getting Osama, etc..etc..

They'll realze then (after it's too late) that they really don't want to live thru another 6-12 years of the clintons.

So the thief found nothing in the safe that he stole - so why bother sending him to jail or punishing him?

Is that what you are saying?

This LOOKS bad for Hillary.  Depending on a man that already 'SUPPOSEDLY' tried to COVER for her husband's dealings while he was in office - is NOT a good idea.

She'd best have a good response to this story and it best not be....He Paid His Dues....

  • Why Do you ask?  And it's COONSEY.

  • comment on a post Poll between Hillary and Obama only - is there one? over 6 years ago

    Found one....

    ABC News/Washington Post Poll
    Sept. 27-30, 2007

"If Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama were the only choices in the Democratic primary, how would you vote?"

    Hillary 55%
    Obama 39%
    Unsure 5%

    Difference of only 16%

If the 2008 Democratic presidential primary or caucus in your state were being held today, and the candidates were [see below], for whom would you vote?"

    Hillary 53%
    Obama 20%
    Edwards 13%
    Richardaon 3%
    Biden 2%

Difference of 33% between Hillary and Obama with everybody else in the poll.

When put against each other Hillary is only 16 pts ahead.  Hillary also has the advantage of having a NAME that is recognized all over - Obama does not.  Once people KNOW his name (not political junkies like ourselves) - he just might be ahead of her.

    It's a waste of time.

I might remind everybody that there will be a Democratic Convention on Aug 25-28, 2008 and a Republican Convention on Sept 1-4, 2008.

I wouldn't put it past this administration and Karl Rove to make sure there is BREAKING NEWS sometime during the Democratic convention.

Something has happened near election time for the past 5 years.

It could be news that General Petraeus says he'll be sending 50,000 troops home by the end of the year (2008).

It could be news that the prime minister of Iraq has asked our combat troops to 'go home', we can now control our own country.

Or, as in the past, we will get another terror warning or capture a big time enemy like Bin Laden?

Either way, any bill asking for anything other then a withdraw date, is worthless.  It will have strings attached, this administration would make sure of it - putting the Democrats into another trap later.

Democrats need to PUSH a bill passed, forcing Republicans to VOTE on record - refusing to end the war.

When's the best time for this BILL (even if Bush vetoes it) - Immediately.  What will be the completion withdraw date?  August 2008.

That gives the military a full year to GET OUT as most experts predict it would take.  It also gets the troops out sooner then what the GOP planned for.  That's the goal.

An lastly, it gives the Democratic Convention a Boost.
