"I'm a lefty. Get used to it."

"I'm a lefty. Get used to it," Obama quipped as he signed his name. "I was told not to swipe the pen."

Unfortunately, he's referring to his preference of hand not his politics but I am optimistic that he will surprise us. The President signed three documents after his inauguration, including a proclamation declaring a day of national renewal and reconciliation. He also signed Cabinet and sub-Cabinet nominations that were then taken to be presented to the Senate.

The other left-handed Presidents include James Garfield, Harry Truman, Gerald Ford, George H. W. Bush, and Bill Clinton. There are also some who think that Herbert Hoover and Ronald Reagan were natural lefties but were turned rightward by their school teachers.

More from CNN.

many of our presidents have been left-handed

way out of proportion to the percentage of adults who are lefties:

McCain was left-handed too, by the way.

Re: "I'm a lefty. Get used to it."

Oh I'm sure it was a intentional double entendre. No one works the streets as an organizer who isn't a lefty at heart.

Re: "I'm a lefty. Get used to it."

Obama is a lefty Charles but are you? Are you the same Lemos who used to be a front page poster at No Quarter, and who proclaimed that he "would NEVER vote for Obama. Inquiring minds want to know.

Yes, he is (to both, I think).  His posts not touching Obama seem insightful and well-informed, but he was syndicated at NQ and ruined OneGoodMove.

Re: "I'm a lefty. Get used to it."

Thanks for clearing that up. I think we all deserve to know who is posting on our front page and what their history is.

Re: "I'm a lefty. Get used to it."

I can't think of a more lefty initiative than the $850 Billion works program that is first on the agenda.

not necessarily

Depends on how that money is spent.

For instance, spending all the infrastructure money on new roads and interchanges in the exurbs is not lefty. Spending it on repairing our existing crumbling roads and bridges, while also expanding rail and public transit, would be lefty.

Re: not necessarily

Are you kidding?

Regardless of where the roads and bridges are being built, it is primarily a LABOR program.  Programs that are designed to help the suffering working class are lefty by nature.

I'm a lefty Drummer

Me, Phil Collins, and the drummer in Deep Purple....

Everything but Golf, cause my old man refused to buy an expensive set of clubs. I think most lefties play golf with right hand clubs, it's not really a handicap (golf...Handicap..get it!)

For the comment about Reagan et all being converted lefties, the Nuns at St. Joseph tried mightly, but everytime they turned their backs, I put the pen back in my left hand...

Stubborness has not always been my best trait.
