I get out of the gym at the Shepherd University Wellness Center and go downstairs to the Cafe where I get my post-exercise coffee and plop down in front of the lobby television. Today on C-Span 3 they were showing an all Republican Health Care panel, supposedly exposing all the things wrong with the countries that have single-payer (read "socialized medicine") health plans.
And, of course, the Congress-men and -women were quoting and basing their arguments on stuff from the "highly non-partisan" Lewin Group.

"Don't bet against us. We are going to make this thing happen," said Barack Obama to reporters yesterday when he announced that he expected a Senate Health Plan to come out of Max Baucus' Finance Committee by the end of the week.
Obama is committed to having this plan out before Congress takes its August vacation (does it dawn on you that these guys take a lot of time off? I guess when you're collecting from insurance companies and other lobbyists you have to make appearances at their summer gatherings...), and time is running out.

When you wake up in the morning and rub the sleep out of your eyes are you surprised to find a great shadowy figure in the room? We are past the Fourth and the "let's celebrate America" holiday feeling only to find that the lobbyists continued to move forward while we were distracted by fireworks and speeches.
The Wapo points out this morning that a large number of former inner-office employees of Max Baucus and Charles Grassley and other active Congressional committee members are being snatched up by lobbying organizations:

Please go to http://cotocrew.wordpress.com and read the article by Caitlin McNulty of VenezuelanAnalysis.com.
The more articles I read like this, the more I realize how advanced countries are with single-payer systems and how the AMA and the Insurance Companies and the Pgharmaceuticals Companies have been able to use MONEY to keep us pinned against the wall.
Make sure to pass this article on.

The U.S. House of Representatives approved a $15 million increase for both the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) for FY 2010, as my good friend Cecil Thompson just e-mailed me.
This is Great! The problems with the economy are hurting the performing arts spaces big time... from the Metropolitan Opera down to many of the smaller companies and performance groups in your own regions.

"If the U.S. imperialists start another war, the army and people of Korea will ... wipe out the aggressors on the globe once and for all," says the North Korean Central News Agency on reports that a US destroyer was following the Kang Nam, a N. Korean vessel transporting illicit weapons to Myanmar, against United Nations sanctions. Ironically, the ship following the Kang Nam is the USS John S. McCain.

...both Senators and Congressmen and women, that the majority of us favor a public health plan and are opposed to the way insurance companies suck our money out of health care. If they don't understand this, then they shouldn't be reelected, neither Republicans nor Democrats.
If you haven't contacted your representatives, or participated in the many polls and petitions on the web (like Dr.Howard Dean's which I think is very important to support: http://www.standwithdrdean.com/LastChanc
e), then it is time to get active. Let them know what you think.
I know that my Rep., Shelly Moore Capito (R), is a lost cause... and hopefully it will help get her replaced next election. That's the one thing we can hold over their heads, the possibility of massive vote attacks.

Mousavi has called for another mass rally today, called a "Mourning" rally for the now over 30 killed by government soldiers in the ongoing protests over the Iranian elections.
And these rallies are getting bigger every day, despite the Iranian government's attempts to block International press coverage and even Twitter.

While Iran has declared Ahmadinejad the Winner, these numbers have been leaked out of Iran showing how the votes really accumulated:

I've spent the better part of the afternoon flipping the television channels to hear more report about this 88 year old monster who killed a guard in his attempt to kill even more people at the Holocaust Museum in D.C.
This was a guy that the authorities KNEW ABOUT. He ran a web site which attacked Jews, Blacks and Catholics. He self-published a book that he gave the first six chapters of away for free on line (then advertising the last six chapters for money).
