If you can't expresss it , then I question it. Define it, or don't waste my time with easy language without much meat to its bone.

By the way, I know you want do this because this is politics, but it really would be nice to read a cogent reason why what he said was so offensive to whites?

What was disgusting about what Wright said?

  • Of you can go after him on his foriegn policy record. this more than anything is what separates us from the right- other than the issue of willingness to lie, there is the issue of being able to go after a candidate even on his percieved strength. I really don't get your post. Both our candidates have strengths in this area, and McCain has a lot of weaknesses that can be exploited. Your post is just suicide by fear.

  • Exactly.

  • I agree. This is the chief problem I have right now with both sides. Well that and that substantively they are both full of shit because they aren't that far a part compared to Mr. 100 Years War.

You know what's scary about this post. It's that the partisans on both side took that as a chance to talk about Clinton v. Obama. They really won't get it until we wake up in Jan 2009 with Pres. McCain. This isn't about Clinton or Obama.

  • One of the reasons I am starting to migrate over to a site like Talk Left is although they are biased, they would delete a comment such as yours as irrelevant. It was strickly put up as an attempting to hi jack. It's wrong when the Clintonites do it, and wrong now. It also shows poor priorities. McCain is the enemy. Not Obama or Clinton. Finally, may I suggest you grow up.

A rule that you will never use ever again after having to memorized it. Well, maybe on ce more- if you are taking the bar.

  • Exactly what I was thinking. This will not affect his narrative.

Your take as usual lacks objectivity- who care what mydd's interpretation as you see it is. The point is that it's about McCain and the GOP attack machine, and yet, who do you focus on here in your post? Wrong priorities.

  • on a comment on Speechs, myths and the mess over 6 years ago

I am not a Clinton supporter. Why someone would give you a 2 for essentially missing the point is beyond me. As has been the case for much this cycle, if my issue with Clinton is trust, with Obama it's the inability to address the very issue he's now facing- the GOP.  This diary  points out to you that in your obession over Clinton you miss who actually is the enemy here. I really don't know if anything will get you to understand this at this point- McCain is the enemy. His hands are all over this. You can certainly continue to pretend that this is about Clinton. BUT, you aren't helping Obama, and its not the estimation of others that's at issue- if Obama's ability to identity the right target for attack, there is reason for concern.

That's how I view it too. That he really is able to listen not just to people coming from the far right, but also from the much further left. People talked about unity, and yet ironiocally when he shows it in a demonstrable way, they bark at it because its not from the right.

There are a lot of things my friends, mostly black professionals, will say to me that they would never say to you or a pollster. I believe that there is still a deep well of differnce between what is said in public and what is understood. For one thing, we aren't blind to how this society still treats us. I recount this over at open left- Harvard Medical or some journal like this- wrote up how black s were under prescribed pain medication because doctors generally underdiagnosed the black patients level of pain. This stuff goes deep, and its not always going to show up as easily as with a poll.
